So, if he's holding Des, she must have on something different, perhaps at a different time that same day, or a different day all together. Or he is holding a piece of patio furniture or accompaniment.

Yes, and he has a tendency to run his fingers through his hair (out of nervousness, I think), so that could change the way it looks also.

I agree but running his fingers throughout his hair does not make it wet....
