Good point now that his season has been over for over a month and Des' season starts pretty quickly. Maybe it's something to consider for this coming season though? Perhaps trying it out to see how it works. Can't hurt to try. We tried out the fan threads thing after this season and it seems some have issue, so trying another plan of action maybe what's needed.

I don't really understand the problem. It makes sense to me that fans of Sean & Catherine have more interest in talking & reading about them and therefore have more threads. It's not like others can't go there if they want to read what's going on. I understand that not everyone likes them & wants to be able to criticize or snark but not sure why this isn't sufficient.

I've been on both sides myself. Things will quiet down here when Desiree's season starts. It looks like there's a lot of posting going on there already.

I appreciate hearing all the suggestions on ways to make this work for those who are diehard fans and those who want to sleuth and discuss.

I know that Love and San want all to feel welcome and have stated continually that this is not a fansite.

However, my experience is that most of the people posting on the fan threads are not willing to listen to or allow anyone to have a difference in opinion. I personally don't dare to post most of my thoughts because I know it will upset the apple cart and cause a great deal of grief to Love and San. And I won't do that to them.

My hope is that we can find a way to make this work for everyone. :campfire:

I can see that albean, but I think it's more about turning this site around and losing the fangirl image that this site is getting. Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I think fans should get to post what they want to also, but it's about the principle about freedom of speech that many of us are concerned about. I'm with umngirl, and think that Des's season is where we all make a conscious effort to restore this site to it's original format.

just want to point something out ... look at all the join dates of those who want to discuss this situation and try to work something out. We all have one thing in common, even if we have differing views, we're Bach Fans, we'll be here season after season regardless of who the lead or contestants are. We love this site and it's founders, and I think it's worth fighting for, so to speak.

You can be a fan without being a "fangirl". I think there's a lot thrown out there against fans but from where I sit it goes both ways. Personally I don't care if someone snarks about someone I like. Sometimes they go too far and I may defend but usually I skip posts I don't like. I don't mind the fan threads because I can ignore the ones I don't care about and go to the ones I do. Soon Sean & Catherine's will be like Ashley & JP's threads.

I really think it's up to LM & San to decide about the board. I just keep posting. :Smiley:

Moving over from the fan forum regarding Cat's tweet about shoes during tonight's news...

@landrje.. Everyone in my family was watching the news tonight. I post on Bachchat too and we have a topic for it and followed the news throughout the day. I don't think there has been 4 days of constant news. We waited all day for what happened tonight, so her tweet seemed off to me. I said disappointed, not appalled. One thing I appreciated tonight was the great spirit of american citizens coming together to help others and authorities find these guys. The farthest thing from my mind was shoes. But like I said, I found it off, odd, disappointing. I am not going to dismiss her over it. She's young.

This thread the past couple days has been great. I like the discourse and the way everyone is trying to find ways to make this work. Too many posts I agree with parts so I won't quote any. One thing albean said that I really agree with. "You can be a fan without being a "fangirl"." I think we are all fans of the bach. Otherwise we wouldn't be here. I hope this discussion style can be carried to the other threads and we can as NV and umngirl stated, make a conscious effort to restore the site to its beginnings. We all appreciate what San and Love_Me do to keep this site up and running. Thanks ladies! tyvm

I just hope they don't do away with at least one fan type thread for the couple. I personally like to have a thread to go to when I don't like the current theme of discussion in the non-fan threads.

I also appreciate the non-fan threads for when I am not a fan of the couple. So, it goes both ways.

I agree with albean too, and I never once said that I didn't think that fans shouldn't be here or shouldn't have a place to post. The opposite in fact as I've supported them in many previous posts. I'm trying to distinguish the fan from the fangirl, from which, there is a marked difference. A fan is somebody who likes the lead and/or his F1 or one of the contestants and wishes them well and wants to know all about them etc. A fangirl is all that plus they don't want to hear anything negative about said people and will chastise, critisize, insult and attack anybody who dares not like their favoured one. IMO this is the problem that we're dealing with on this site the last 2 seasons.

YUP, that's it in a nutshell.....Em's season was the worse and the aftermath of Sean's season is turning into the same thing.....We left the FORT because of this same thing, I would hate for this site to become what we dislike so about the other.....

I've been reading through this thread today and just wanted to throw in support for what you and many others are saying. I was never a huge poster but last season's toxicity killed most of my desire to do so. The irony is that the JEM doubters were proven right more often than not. My starting point with both JEM and Seancat was basically neutral. My opinion of both couples has gotten more negative as I've gotten to "know" them better, not because my choice didn't "win". The opposite has been true of Ashley, where my neutral opinion has turned completely positive because of her post show behavior. Let's face it, we're all here because we're fans of the show, no matter how hard that might be to admit in public! So I imagine most of us do hope for the couples' success, at least initially.

For me this board has been a fun escape and, in the past, a place to catch a laugh or two. But I've stopped myself from posting 100 times because it just hasn't felt worth it. Need an example? That peck on the lips that Seancat exchanged at the airport....where were Sean's arms...hands? That's the kiss you get when your wife of 10 years picks you up from the commuter train! I wanted to comment on the photo then and there and then thought...nah....totally not worth the aggravation!

Anyway, Loveme and San are the best mods ever High clap

and I give you enormous credit for trying to make this site work for everyone.
