For those thinking that we'll know a lot if Sean's family is at DTWS tomorrow night- if they are, yes it shows support. But if not, it could easily be normal logistics things - getting away from jobs, family, school, etc. It would be a nice time for them to see Catherine though, and support her, so hope it works out for at least some of the family to be there. Question, have there been any interviews with her family (mom, sisters)? It used to be the local papers would do interviews but when both live in very large cities it's not quite the same.

dw_a_mom wrote:As several long time posters had mentioned in the moment, there were several things during the season that didn't seem to fit. It looks like the ending wrapped the story up pretty well and offered a likely explanation for the weirdness, but maybe there is another layer. Stuff happens during filming that for whatever reason TPTB don't want to include in the story and, so, everyone involved is forced into silence. Sometimes that stuff detracts from the relationship we see, sometimes it really has no effect on it at all. Only time will tell. Things eventually creep out. But, yes, it won't surprise me to hear down the road something that makes us all go "oh, THAT might explain weirdness X!"

I do know that in the way the US is right now, it is really difficult to cross political lines in a relationship. The level of negative assumption and distrust is at an all time high. The show doesn't air any of those discussions, but we know they must happen. And if Catherine is on the other side of that fence from Sean's family, that might not sit well with all of them, in which case that could be an explanation. But it is pretty pointless to speculate, since we don't know these people. On my TV screen, I liked them all. I hope everyone is and will be happy. If there is something else to the story, I'll hear it when I hear it.

I doubt it's a big deal. I live very near to his family and I have friends on both sides of the spectrum. Politics don't come up as much as you'd think.

Let's think about the other side of it. I wonder what they thought about Lindsay after watching the season? Shay mentioned she seems young. I found Lindsay's voice to be annoying and I wasn't the only one of my friends so they may not have been as interested in Sean picking her as people think. giggling

After all they have had four months to get used to that. He has said in several interviews that the first person he called after the offer was Catherine and if she would not have been on board he would have turned it down. Maybe he didn't ask them or seek their advice and they are not happy. In her interview after the finale, his sister was fairly perky talking about the finale and the proposal but when the discussion turned to DWTS nd the wedding her demeanor completely changed. I think she is very used to being the center of his world and now he has someone else that is helping him make decisions. I remember when she posted the picture of his best three girls, her and the dogs. I thought that was her just holding on to her old status with him. I thought at the time is was a bit inappropriate given the fact he had a fiancé. It will be very interesting to see if they are there on Monday. Very telling if they are not.

Very strange indeed! And why would she want to be her brother's best girl? She's already her husband's best girl, isn't she. Or among her father's "best" girls. But her brother?? It would have been sweet if the photo was of her daughter and his dogs ... but of her (???????).

Good to know.

Just give me something that looks like a real love story to help me escape into my own version of fantasy for a while. And maybe against the odds one of those stories will actually survive real life. Nothing wrong with a little hope, right?

To be fair, Shay tweeted this on Feb 23rd. The FD episode (so the top 3 real girls) was shown on Feb 25. I think this is the same sarcastic sense of humor that Sean has -- she was teasing her followers.

ETA: Why not include her daughter instead of herself? Perhaps she was in preschool when Shay thought of it.

I totally agree. My husband and I have been together nearly 21 years and have never voted for the same president and maybe just a few times the same senator or governor for our state. But we tend to share similar viewpoints on social issues, which is important for both of us. Even our children are split with my son seeming to be more conservative than either one of us and my daughter more liberal. Go figure. But, we all get along great, love each other dearly and encourage independent thinking - just as long as we keep the respect.

Ah ... so now my hand needs to be slapped for being too quick to judge.

That's the problem with social media; what one person sees as clearly a joke, other people have a different take. Shay must have gotten a lot of criticism for that and maybe that's why she's pulling back.

MVMom39forever, I just want to be clear that I wasn't slapping your hand...only wanted to offer a different perspective. bestbud!

IMO, I think that's why Shay has pulled back. I think she's gotten a lot of backlash...but, of course, I don't know this for sure. Just a hunch.

They are the same and not the same, with the not the sames being the very visible pieces, and ones that I tend to think can be pretty important. So I don't know what to look for in the way of tell-tale signs. As much as I loved Meredith and Ian, for example, I saw something right off that nagged at me; I just choose to ignore it because it was more fun, and Ian was the kind of guy I'd always crushed on (but wisely, for me, didn't marry). With Andy and Tessa I saw the issues Tessa was having right off, even though the romantic in me wanted to believe she'd work through it. But Sean and Catherine ... I just have no clue what to look for. He lights up, yes, but we all know that what they feel today, as sincere as it might be, isn't enough. OK, it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, since we'll all cheer if they make it and go "oh well" if they don't, but the student of human nature and relationship dynamics in me is curious.

I completely agree with you. It'll be interesting to see what happens after DWTS (i've only watched the show once but I don't think he'll make it very far, he's not a very good dancer). In post show interviews after DWTS was announced, he talk about being open to future opportunities that were good for the both of them, so we'll see what that means.

Jake wasn't very good- he was the fifth person to be eliminated out of the 12 although I also didn't think Curt Warner was very good and he was eliminated 8th. Sometimes it depends on the size of your fanbase

No worries from me! I was slapping my own hand. I try not to be too judgemental in life and yet I was being just that with Shay.

Really, all that I want to do is enjoy SeanCat and not over analyze or question their every move (or lack of moves) or their friends/families every move or the moves of Peta or whatever. It's exhausting and too often proven to be a waste of time & energy.

I like what I hear & read & see about SeanCat. They make me smile. I am hoping this one lasts.

I saw this somewhere and I thought it fits Sean and Catherine.
