I don't know, but I remember that in his pre-show Bachelorette Q&A on the abc.com site, he said NYC was his favorite city to visit. If Cat wants to ultimately be in NYC, will Sean move there?

However, I was kind of taken aback at how frank her sisters were about Catherine and her dating habits, i.e. that it sounded like she had relationships that she enters into quickly and ends just as quickly and called her a moody person. Like they were trying to warn him away or something instead of grilling Sean (in a nicer way than Des' brother) about his background and lifestyle. Maybe they were testing his reactions to what they were saying? I found that segment to be odd. It appears Sean found it odd, too, as he says in his blog today:..meeting Catherine's family was pretty intimidating! They seemed skeptical about me and I'm not sure they believed that this could work. Her sisters also told me that Catherine had a strong desire to pursue a career in New York and that she may not be ready to settle down. I found it strange that they were telling me this, yet Catherine had never mentioned it. I'm all for supporting her dreams, but I wished she'd shared those dreams with me. I left Seattle knowing that I had a desire to be with Catherine, but just wasn't sure if our lives aligned.
Yet when you read CH blog - his spin isSean left Seattle feeling great about Catherine but not exactly feeling great about the family’s feelings towards him. That would obviously weigh heavily on his final decision during the rose ceremony.
I agree with you, Becca. I was also surprised that they left in Cat's "curses" if they even were said. The moody quote, including that Cat swings from being really "up" to then being really "focused", was a concern for me. Why are they leaving these things in the show???? I think Sean would want consistency but maybe the adrenaline junkie in him likes the euphoria of their relationship.
If Cat wants to ultimately be in NYC, will Sean move there? If I were Sean, I'd have paused too, wondering if the lives could blend.
If Sean takes DWTS, it would make sense rather than having either of them moving to the other.
I still think that Des was his best fit. I do expect choppy waters for them until the end, including his family preferring Lindsay.
I came away from last night's episode feeling just like you did...that Des was the best fit for Sean. I think that her brother ruined the evening for her by insulting Sean's character, and there just was no way that Sean wanted to bring a fractured relationship into his life, especially with his potential wife's OWN brother. Family unity is too important to him. Des may very well end up being my favorite woman of this season. She has it all, is the total package in my eyes.

Truthfully, I don't know exactly what Catherine hopes to do in New York, but a lot of opportunities will now come her way that might not have before. So New York may not need to be her landing place. What it does show is that she is open to leaving Seattle.
If you check Sean's twitter, there is a link to his publicist/agent, a pretty high-powered agency, in New York. I firmly believe Sean wants to reside in Dallas, but clearly he's open to pursuing opportunities that come his way- he's a smart man.

I think the brother insulted Sean's character and obviously that would be a sore point. But I was impressed that he told Sean and Des that he just wasn't seeing it between Des and Sean. He was being honest and probably could tell Sean wasn't really into Des and that it was just going to be a matter of time. Whether this is all scripted - ie Des long ago suspected she wasn't the one - and the brother's comments were an easy explanation for her leaving, I don't know.

I find the highlighted interesting since Sean has chosen to not have sex until marriage. Somehow I don't see Catherine waiting too long to have sex. jmo

Catherine's sister's both live out of state , and Cat said she is a risk taker and adventurous. I don't think she'd have a problem moving. My issue is why keep Ashlee over Des or Cat?
I guess I just see her as a West Coast girl and especially in the e-commerce/ad world..speaking from personal experience, so many of the big gigs are in Seattle, Cali or NY/Boston.
In any case, I agree with you about AshLee. I don't get why she stayed when it was obvious that he wasn't comfortable and she was already picking out wedding gowns.
Since I am too much of a realist when it comes to this show, I totally agree with what you said here. Honestly, the fact that all of the women other than Ashley live on the West coast seems problematic to me for a lasting relationship with anyone that he would have chosen. And to me Catherine seems to be the biggest risk as compared to either Des or Lindsay. I could see Lindsay more easily moving to Dallas than the other two, who seem to be more ensconced in their lives and in their hometowns that Lindsay would be.
I too don't understand Sean taking AshLee to the F3 over Des. I was shocked when one of AshLee's parents asked Sean not to lead her on and break her heart in the end if he had no intention of choosing her, and Sean basically told them that he wouldn't break her heart. I don't think that AshLee ever stood a chance of being his F1, so that was a promise that he could not keep. And I am sure that he regrets saying that now.

I have question. Didn't we see a SC of Sean's hand on Des' buttocks during her HTD???? Or was it during Lindsay HTD??? I know it wasn't Cat. Does anyone remember seeing this?????

Re: Episode 8 (HTD's) - 2/18 - Bachelor 17 - Discussion - Spoilers
I came away with the the following:
1. Catherine was his top choice. What threw him for a loop was the fact that she wanted to move to NYC and she did not mention something so important to him. He lost confidence/was confused in what they had then. What else was she not telling him? It was interesting that his first phrase about Catherine in his blog, is that he never wants to say goodnight to her. Maybe he will not have to.
2. Dez - According to Sean her brother was great in the beginning. He was on board with the relationship. I believe after watching Dez and Sean interact, it became obvious that Sean was no where close to falling in love with Dez. The brother did say that, just not as eloquently.
3. Lindsay/Ashlee - I am not sure what to make of these relationships. One he has fun with, the other not so much. Both families are the type of families that mesh with his. Still both did not display any deep feelings from Sean. Sean kept saying "I am crazy about you, you can be my wife, and you can be my best friend", but still he does not have the glow as with Catherine.

Re: Episode 8 (HTD's) - 2/18 - Bachelor 17 - Discussion - Spoilers
My first post of the season.
On Sean: he seems a sincere guy, surprisingly natural and funny in the few unscripted moments we are allowed to see (on the bed with Tierra in Canada, out takes with Lindsay) and otherwise wooden in his "produced" segments. (They need to give him a few new stock phrases!) I also believe Sean is looking to spend his life with a woman, which makes for more believable TV - and distinguishes him from at least two previous Bachelors. But I digress...
Religion: it obviously plays a big role in this season. Sean doesn't need a lot of time to make a decision - he needs to feel God's leading. So if God knocks on his head in Thailand and says, "Hey, Sean, put down the 100% egg whites and go propose to Catherine!" Sean is going to listen to that message. To date (i.e. on show time), Sean looks like a man who has not yet heard God's leading. That's because Mike Fleiss is waiting until the ninth hour to pipe Morgan Freeman's voice into his shower, telling him to pick the only remaining contestant with a vocal register that doesn't resemble a dog whistle. Again, I digress...
On Des: I disbelieve anyone who says he made his F1 decision last night. No man, but especially not Sean, is going to make a proposal decision without having (1) off-camera time to talk about important topics not suitable for public consumption; and (2) time with his family. Period. She's a lovely girl and her brother should lay off the 'roids. I wish her well.
On Catherine: I see why he picks her - he acts demonstrably different with her than the others - but the producers amply showed the obstacles this couple will face in the real world. Will they be the yin to each other's yang, or will the differences be too much? My religious, meat-eating Republican brother, for what it's worth, married a vegetarian Democrat with a nose stud. They're very happy. And she now loves steak :) But she never had to alter her career dreams, or her voting preferences, or her city of residence. They had enough in common to make the differences between them feel like the spice that keeps life exciting. I'm not betting on a SeanCat wedding, but who knows? Morgan Freeman could convince me to do almost anything.
One last note: my non-spoiled hubby had the correct F2 from Montana on - he said there was a huge dip in chemistry between them and the next two (which he also nailed, though in reverse order). Right now he has Lindsay as F1, but said if not, she's his pick for Bachette. I'm so proud.

Right! the thing I think Sean is worried about with Catherine, is she there for him. It looks like someone put the sisters up to that. Seems like the whole season has been acting to me. Sean had definitely been playing his role, not saying he doesn't care about the women but the only time he's just being himself is with Catherine. I truely believe Desiree is vieing for the bachelorette, that was too much begging at the end, especially when she didn't give him that much interest during the whole show. I would like to see her as the bachette.

Excellent post, Sushifan!!!!
Faith/prayer HAS finally emerged into airtime- and the acknowledgement that it's been part of Bachelor Sean all along the way. He'd had faith discussions with all the women at this point... but it was interesting that Catherine hadn't mentioned New York.... it will be part of their discussion in Thailand, you can be sure. What I take from the thought of her moving to New York is that she is more flexible about residence than many give her credit for. She will have opportunities after the Bachelor that are beyond her wildest dreams, and opportunities she's likely to be able to pursue from a home base- anywhere she chooses.

I noticed the cross being highlighted in Catherine's Mother's house. Shows us they are a christian family.
