More than anything, I'm feeling like he was really thoughtful about this process -- open to all the women, and really considering whether they could fit into his life and he into theirs. Once he explained to Chris why he was wavering on Catherine, it actually made me respect his choices more.
Not that we would know from what they've shown us on screen, but they've obviously had discussions about her career goals and ambitions. Sean has talked a lot about wanting a smart woman, but I'm not sure if he ever saw himself ending up with an ambitious one. So it would be a very real and legitimate concern for him (a) whether Catherine was ready to potentially change her life around for a relationship and (b) whether he could see himself with a career girl instead of a potential SAHM. They are always so giddy around each other that I give him a lot of credit for being able to step back from that and really assess their potential future and the sacrifices they may both have to make.
I don't get the sense that he's in la-la land, thinking that the "next steps" beyond the show are going to be a piece of cake, and I like that. I like it a lot. I don't know if I remember seeing a Bachelor give such careful consideration to how the ladies might fit into his life and vice versa. It may not make for the best televised "love story," but it gives me a lot more confidence about the post-show relationship.
I guess I'm weird that way.
I see a man who is finally using his mind and his heart to make a decision. Most bachelors in the past have used the wrong picker . . .

Don't want to spoil it for the west coast so I'll just say that the next Bachelorette went home tonight on the #bachelor @eonline
Oh how does she know and how would MF let her tell if she did. She really gets on my last nerve!!!!
Ali is not known to be a good prognosticator. She thinks every Bachelor/ette experience is EXACTLY the same as her experience.
Weighing in on a couple of topics (I waited until I'd seen the whole episode)....
I still think Sean is not in love, but the one he was really going to miss is Catherine. As gaga as they are around each other, though, they are not ready to commit to one another (though Catherine is darn close).... Sean is thinking she might be the one- he's surprised by the sisters. (The one thing to note is that Sean has said in media that he wants to support her wife in her chosen field, and be the leader in the family. Those are not mutually exclusive statements, though some might suppose they are). This (Catherine chasing her career dreams) is something they have to face- so it's good that it's in the air. An excellent topic of conversation for the Fantasy Suite. We have been told over and over that they go from giddy to serious so they have it in them to have that discussion.
As for how Catherine feels while watching tonight.... I don't see Sean with any closer connection than with Catherine. And she knows then end.... she knows what happened at the RC and in Thailand.... and since. Unlike some of the bachelors who sort of check out after the filming (Brad, Ben), I don't get the impression that Sean is. He comes from a family where the husband and wife know how to work on their marriages- he will not take the woman he loves for granted. So if she has any trouble tonight (and I don't think she's seeing anything she doesn't know about), Sean will be on the other end of the line.

Very thoughtful post. But I would have liked to see some closure about his Catherine doubts. I was waiting for her to ask, "Sean, can I talk to you for a minute."
Her sisters tried to make her seem flighty in relationships and unready to settle down. It must have been enough for Sean, however, and that's all that matters.
Maybe we're not used to seeing a bachelor try and pick his f1 using his large head instead of the small one?

Catherine's sister's both live out of state , and Cat said she is a risk taker and adventurous. I don't think she'd have a problem moving. My issue is why keep Ashlee over Des or Cat?
I guess I just see her as a West Coast girl and especially in the e-commerce/ad world..speaking from personal experience, so many of the big gigs are in Seattle, Cali or NY/Boston.
In any case, I agree with you about AshLee. I don't get why she stayed when it was obvious that he wasn't comfortable and she was already picking out wedding gowns.

Yeah, but he's using his large head too much. I think why he ended up choosing Cat tonight was because the big head said "maybe not", but his heart said, "I don't want to let her go yet". He's got to trust his heart more.

I believe Lindsay said she loved Sean when he was leaving her parent's home.
