Episode 7 - 2/11 - Bachelor 17 - Discussion - Spoilers

Even though I have watched since the beginning, I, too, had such high hopes for Sean's season and feel foolish for giving TPTB credit to do something different. In the press Sean was warning us of what was to come per the PR script but I thought never thought this is what I would be watching. I feel sorry for the ladies involved.

I think Sean is just following the "script"...he even says all the cliched bachelor lines, i.e. "I'm crazy about you". "we have a great connection", "I can see (insert whatever girl he's with name here) as my wife"...etc...etc.
He kisses them all with the same moves and same level of passion, or lack thereof. I just don't see any chemistry with any of them. Even the "From Here to Eternity" kiss in the surf looked overly produced to me. I know I am jaded with this franchise, but this whole thing screams fake to me. If he is all about his faith, I can't imagine what convoluted thinking he came up with to think it's ok for him to ask a virtual stranger to marry him, while making out with a bunch of other women, and he does make out with a lot, within a couple of hours (hope he used a lot a degerming mouthwash).

Hey Bean I'm not saying that Sean should know who he will propose to before HTDs, but a couple of the women shoud have stood out to him by now, imo.

It is possible that production suggested he not identify anyone in particular (except Tierra, who Sean knew was not going to be his wife - as said to CH in the deleted scene- whether he knew that before or after his convo with Shay, he did know if by the time he called for the mini-van). He knew he was being filmed and the worst possible thing would be to identify one or two and then change his mind or say that there were a couple which would then have America looking for the ones he wasn't really into up to f2.

I think this really was his way of saying that he was not in love with anyone yet.... and since he really only wants to fall in love (not have developing relationships but fall in love) with one of the women, he's going to wait until he's sure of the one before he pictures himself proposing.

I'm sure the wonderful Sophienet already posted this somewhere. It features Catherine's father Carey's side, and what he has to say about Catherine's revelation.

I still dont feel too good about this. The producers probably promised her the moon, the stars and a rose for her to share this publicly. They producers can play them (the women) like marionettes to do their bidding.

I actually think that the whole story shows that healing can occur in even the most dire circumstances. They are careful with each other. Catherine's explanation was complete enough, yet she was clear that her father is in her life. The story was told simply and it was difficult for her. But the usual conversation in the date before HTD is "who's going to be there" or "is there anything I need to know" or "anything I need to be worried about". I know when I need to have an uncomfortable conversation, I don't want it to come up after the fact. And, if you're going to have an uncomfortable moment it's better to be in control of that moment instead of dreading it or avoiding it- which leads to suspicion.

Wow, this forum moves quickly! I've been reading like crazy to try to catch up and that's just in ONE thread!

First, about Tierra, I can't imagine how Sean would say to her, 'I've been crazy about you from the beginning.' It should have been more like 'YOU'VE been crazy since the beginning.'

And if she truly wanted to stay in the game, Tierra should have been able to pull it all together and say, 'Me?! Little ole me? You want me to go and meet your sister?' That would have had to have been a big ego boost to her and a sign she was 'high on Sean's priority.'

But, no, she continued with crying face, drumming her heels, and waiting for him to come back after his think. So I think you all are right that Tierra decided to leave prior to and the producers set this up to be dramatic.

No, I don't think Tierra cared a bit about Sean. I think Tierra cares about Tierra and always wants to win.

I also wondered about the spot on her forehead. Anyone else notice? It looked like a rather large round scar. Or maybe a divot. Maybe a car accident. Or someone binging her one on the head for being such a pain!

I do understand why Sean was attracted to her. She's little and cute and she does just beam up at someone she's trying to impress. But the series of sympathy attempts had to get a little old.

If the producers were really trying to make this dramatic, I wish either Sister Shay had a chance at her and totally showed up her evil side and then chewed her up. Or, that Sean had overheard some of her worst antics with the other girls and sent her home on the spot.

It would be interesting to know what ~ if anything ~ is real on this show and what the producers have set up.

Good post, Scarlet! I just rewatched the episode with my hubby and I had the same feeling about her not fighting to stay. She basically just let him dump her after he told he wanted her to meet her sister.

She must have decided to leave before it all happened. Saw that she wasn't 'winning' and since she didn't care about Sean anyway, decided to cut her losses.

When Shay was on Kidd Kraddick today she said if she HAD met Tierra it wouldn't have mattered how charming she was, she still would have told Sean to let her go.

Just wondering, did anyone notice that on the group date, when they stopped to see the "donkey" the girls called him Ben. :laughingoutlou
