These dates so far have been sucky!! LOL Did they cut the budget in half this season or what? : )
Couldn't agree with you more, LoveDovez! And don't you think the girls were disappointed when they got to the end of the RC last night and Sean didn't announce that they were travelling anywhere?!? Has there been another season where they stayed in LA so long? And then they send them to two cold spots (though both look beautiful and I am looking forward to those locations).
Something is wonky with the editing this season, too. Last night's episode (IMO) sucked. It was chop, chop, choppy like a monkey did the editing. Actually a monkey might have done a better job. Perhaps some prehistoric, rusty ginsu knives were employed.
Yawn is not very good at "acting" and maybe that is part of it. The kiss scene/date was awful. He looked more uncomfortable than Emily O did climbing the Golden Gate bridge during Ben's season. I wish we could have gotten a microphone regarding the beating of his heart. I bet his heart rate was over 120.
The splice and dice during the volley ball date was awful. I think I counted at least 4 splices of ITM's from other dates/episodes planted--mostly of Desiree.
Even though AshLee's date with the tweens was a sweet date, it was not a date. So much of that date was cut up with other threads--the fall, the date shared with the girls, AshLee's back story(I wonder how much alone time she actually got with Yawn) and then what was going on back at the mansion. Chop, chop, chop.
Kacie's meltdown--chop, chop. When Yawn made his "crazy" comment it looked like it came out of left field. It appeared to me very producer driven. KC given cues and prods what to do and Yawn given cues and prods of what to respond, none of it flowed, again perhaps because Yawn responds best when natural and spontaneous rather than prompted what to do/how to act.
No good deed goes unpunished.

This probably should be in the edit thread but I think it was this thread that people were talking about AshLee and how quickly she fell- ie the whole crying ITM....it wasn't filming after their date. Her nailpolish is light pink when she's hugging Sean after he gives her the rose and is bright pink in her crying ITM.

I hear you, Kash. As much as I adore Lesley right now, I don't see the same sparkle as that with Dez or even, god forbid, Tierra.
What do you think is the explanation for the wonky edit this season? I feel like it's been wonky since Brad's season.

I wonder if the person doing some of the video/audio editing is not the same as in the recent past or even necessarily the last epi. They might be utilizing someone different for different epis or even seasons.
I am close to someone who does this as his profession and is moving professionally up the ladder. I torture him to learn about the technicalities.
What he has told me repeatedly: This particular show uses "in house" people only for their editing services. This keeps confidentiality intact, as much as possible. I know this because I have asked him over and over if there is a chance he could ever work for this show. :giggle: So unless MF hires him and I doubt he would switch jobs for MF--it is a big NO.
Confidentiality contracts are signed and workers are fired when contracts are found breached. He has witnessed this with other shows he has worked.
Editing is extremely detailed, intricate work. Think going over frame by frame digitally over and over. So what is left in is deliberate. And what appears choppy to the viewer--is generally considered worse by those doing the editing work(because they are pro's and want a smooth flow), but this is the film that they have to work with to produce the desired storyboard.
Last night had too many storyboard threads going for one episode, IMO.
3 dates, a cocktail party, a rc, a fall, the KC drama, the backstory on AshLee, backstory on charity, plus all the continued character developments to move the storyboard forward...so to me there was way too much in a hours worth of actual film. The only reason I can think of is--there is too much time to fill and not enough meat. They could have entirely skipped that fall...I doubt this was the first time a cast person has fallen down those steps. I can think of several, both filmed for the story and not. Excuse the pun. More hotdoggin than porterhouse.

I have such trouble believing Cat is F1 because they're not showing her at all. Lesley makes sense as the F1 most. Des is too dramatic and Lindsay is too hidden. Maybe Ashlee is in the running too but that's it.
Big: You know, Manhattan has a lot of beautiful women.
Carrie: What an amazing observation!
Big: But the thing is, after awhile, you just wanna be with the one who makes you laugh.

I agree. The edit is so choppy that it doesn't follow any particular pattern either. I still can't believe she doesn't get her first 1 on 1 until episode 6 that's usually when the token 1 on 1 dates happen such as Travis and Ryan on Em's season, even John. It was pretty obvious they got the dates because they were the only ones who hadn't but you could tell they weren't going anywhere. There were the obvious front runner's who got their second 1 on 1 dates. It just doesn't seem like its right.
Another example would be Corrie from Jake's Season. Looking back at the last few seasons (Ben and Brad). 1-on-1 dates in the two weeks before hometowns were 2nd 1-on-1 dates.
Is there a possibility she gets a 1 on 1 date before the Ice Castle Date?

Wow you hit the nail on the head, Kasha. I thought the episode was horribly edited, too. They would be in one scene and next thing I knew they were in another that had nothing to do with the first one and made no sense at all. Maybe we should hire that monkey for them. : )
I too totally agree about the Kacie and Sean thing. It didn't flow normally. Seemed like they said things in between what we heard that they didn't show us.. I really wish Kacie hadn't gone on there again BUT I did catch something when I was watching it back because the first time there were too many here for me to hear really well. When Kacie was talking in her itm before she started crying and got up she said " I told you all it would be hard coming back the second time" OK now why would she have called and asked to come on the show if she knew it was gonna be that hard? I smell a rat and his name is MF.

Ooooh, good point! That might be an explanation: that Sean sorta went into that date with a make-or-break mentality, and she blows him away on the heels of a LOT of drama with his front runners. Or she's on his radar now but the other girls need tending to first. I'm inclined to think the latter; otherwise what is Cat referring to when she says in the igloo: "I wouldn't have it any other way"? I thought she was maybe responding to Sean apologizing for making her wait forever for a date. I'd love a surprise, but I'm gonna wait until episode 6 to see what shakes out before I doubt the spoiler. Changed woman!

Re: Episode 3 - 1/21 - Bachelor 17 - Discussion - Spoilers
While I'm on this thread ( if my dog will be still long enough for me to type) I wanted to say something that has bothered me since last night. Esp after watching the show over again. I was WAY TOO harsh in my postings about AshLee and I'm truly very sorry. AshLee isn't the only one that has spoken about falling in love with Sean. Sarah did on her first date and Leslie said it last night.
What I saw after watching it in private so that I heard all that was said I see a different AshLee. We have to remember these ladies know that they have very limited time on here and everything happens a lot faster than it normally would in real time. I know I tend to forget that at times..
I loved the fact that after going thru the hell she has in her life she still said over and over that she is lucky. Plus the editing put some of her later screencaps/itm's in there to make her look a certain way and that wasn't fair, but then this is MF we're talking about. : (.
She may come off as looking a little needy on here, but I can say that whoever gets her as a wife will be one lucky man and I can't say that about too many of these ladies. She will give her whole heart and soul into making somebody happy.
In reading about her in REAL life I realized she is a wonderful person and I feel like crap doing a snap judgement on her esp when I said I was going to try not to do that this season and be aware that a lot of these girl's family and friends reads these forums and I realize they can make them look anyway they want to with this stupid editing they're doing this season.
So to AshLee, her family, friends, her fans and to those of you on here, I'm truly sorry for the things I said last night and would give anything if I had waited until I really could hear/watch the show. I know the saying goes that they all signed up for it, but that doesn't mean I have to be so mean and negative about any of them because what we're seeing isn't necessarily how they really are in real life. Thanks for reading this....

Editing is very poor - the "cameras" shy away from Catherine every time they get close. Someone should do a video of their hug at the rose ceremony though - there's been a lot more interaction than shown. You can see from other hugs that the type he gave Catherine meant something.

I said just about the same thing in another thread. In addition to the RC hug, I also noticed their hug on the beach when he was welcoming all of the girls. When he was hugging Kristy, Catherine was right behind her (Kristy) and it looked like Sean was looking at Catherine rather than focusing on Kristy judging by the look on Catherine's face. Conversely, when he was hugging Catherine, Leslie was behind Catherine but it appeared to me that Sean had turned his face away from her and seemed to be more focused on Catherine - and the hug seemed to be a fully embracing one. I understand that I could be grasping at straws here to find the connection since we have been shown so little but I don't think so.
I also noticed in the description for episode 6 the phrase used is a "romantic ice castle" plays an important role (paraphrasing) in a "sensual date" so perhaps this is where he starts really seeing Catherine as sexy.

So I'm not going to say much yet since I haven't seen the whole episode but I do want to ask if anyone noticed a "look" between Sean and Catherine at the volley ball tourney. I plan to watch when I get home so I'll figure out exactly when it happened and post but it is bugging me right now!!
