Honestly, I agree with RS on this one - the season is made or broken based on the cast not the lead. This is particularly true of the Bach as opposed to the Bachette. There's usually a standout in the cast each season who provides the primary entertainment value, and oftentimes the lead (and even the F1) play the supporting role. Melissa/Stephanie, Chantal/Michelle, Courtney/Kacie, all seemed to be the stars of their seasons, way more so than the lead.

With Arie's expressive personality, we might have had a Bach-ette style lead, ala Ali/Ash/Emily, where the storyline is really about them.

With Roberto or Sean, I expect the same results - I'll enjoy the season if I enjoy the cast.

I'm reallly puzzled why you would think someone was trying to run off everyone that doesn't bow to JEM by the title of this thread. It sounded to me that the discussion in here would be who could the next bachelor be other than Arie since he is not doing it for whatever reason. It has nothing to do with JEM.

I think Sean was the only guy in the running who was agreeing to the role without restrictions or resistance. That doesn't make him necessarily MF's #1 choice. In fact, I think he was third in line behind Roberto & Arie. And if Lochte was ever seriously in the running (VERY DOUBTFUL), Sean would've been fourth in line.

But Sean is the guy who will be the next Bachelor. And MF will make it seem like he's a great choice, regardless of where he fell in the recruiting process. That's his job.

While I agree the thread title can come across negatively, it was written right after the news article where Arie announced he would not be TB. As a statement of fact, it is accurate. I think the implied tone was just careless use of language, not intended.

Seriously, I wanted to suggest a different thread title but it was already 3 pages in by the time I saw it.

Uuggh? Not sure I get this...anyway, I'm quite OK with Sean, can't wait to see how he will handle the whole process! He has one of the most loveable family I ever saw on that show!

NOT a fan of Sean, and the last time I hoped the contestants would carry the show due to a dull lead (Ben) I was severely disappointed.

We'll see, but I'm predicting a dud of a season.

I thought the same thing about Emily; she turned out to be sassier than I imagined. Let's check back half way thru, if it's Sean and compare notes!
