I thought the purpose of this thread was so we could:

1) Express my/our disappointment it's NOT Arie - because I'm VERY disappointed...... :Frown:
2) Exchange thoughts on WHY it isn't going to be Arie: Was it his choice? Or WHY did TPTB chose someone else?
3) Who WILL the next Bach be?

What on earth do Emily & Jef have to do w/it?

I have to admit I was looking forward to a season of Arie or Roberto. I prefer the dark handsome types to the blond all-American types. All three are clearly great guys and I would love for any of them to find love.

Unfortunately, the record is not as good for the Bach and the B'ette. Following Brad and Ben as Bach's, I would like to seea lead that could carry more of the show, than just leaving it to the girls. I think arie and Roberto could have done that.

I really like Sean, but as others have pointed out, we saw the edited Sean as fairly white bread. Never really saw him too much in ITM's when explaining different scenes with the guys. Even in deleted scenes, which were pretty funny this year, I only remember him in the muscle measuring one and highland games. Does that mean he sat back and watched rather than engaging? I don't know. I admit his tweets have given me hope there is personality and a sense of humor there. Perhaps it will come out front and center as I believe Emily's did.

I don't think he was first or second choice. I think R was first, when that didn't work or the public opinion was shouting Arie, I think TPTB moves on to Arie and for all reasons racing, readiness to move on, tabloid fodder etc. In the end arie chose racing. If that makes him happy and the right move for hi at this time, then I support him 100%.

As for Sean, I look forward to seeing the less edited version of Sean the lead, v Sean the contender. It could be full of happy surprises!

I'm more offended by recent posts that some members have written on this forum than by the title of this thread. Talk about double standards. Geesh.

I think any of the top 3 contenders (Roberto, Sean or Arie) would have made great Bachelors. Whoever it is I will watch, but as goodgal and gurlbrit said, I prefer the Bachelorette seasons over the Bachelor ones. The female leads usually take the show more seriously and see it as a quest for love rather than as a meat market.

I don't really get this 'default' Bachelor. Wouldn't that be if someone signed and then backed out for whatever reason?

I can't say if he was first, second or third choice, but CH and the crowd certainly seemed enthusiastic about the idea of having him as a TB candidate at the MTA.

Yeah I'm afraid the Sean fans may need to find a safe haven and strap on their seat belts. He's already being referred to as a default. Someone needs to retire that word.

yumyum.....totally agree with everything you just said. I definitely enjoy The Bachelorette more than The Bachelor because I like you think the women who are The Bachelorette take it more seriously and it's not all about "who's the hottest"......they dig a little deeper for some substance and a connection. I just don't understand why people don't just embrace the guy that is picked and let it go. What's all the "fussing" about? You can still like Arie and like the other two also. I liked all of Emily's final 3 guys I just came down to who was best for Emily and it was Jef......not Arie......not Sean.

In my opinion there is no default. Unless of course the Bachelor begins production, begins filming, meets his ladies then trips over the accent table of doom and accidently burns his hands in the circular art deco fire-pit (a la Survivor) and has to be airlifted out by Kalon's rented chopper.

They call in the last-minute pinch hitter, who is THEN the identifiable default.

Until that happens, the Bachelor is the Bachelor. Meant to be...
