Trying to make it out tonight to see @BenFlajnik. Great to hear how crazy he is about @bugrobertson. Makes me think about the possibilities

Re: The Bachelor 17 - Speculation/Spoilers - Discussion
I posted this in Sean's thread, but since we're still speculating about the next guy to be named, thought I'd post it here for yall to see. I don't think its been posted yet...if it has, I apologize for the duplicate! Note, still committed to the lemonade stand. Not that he couldn't back out and Graham understand the bach would trump the lemonade stand commitment...but thought it was interesting after he spent the weekend with Graham, he's still in. Would think if he had signed he might have told Graham he couldn't do it.

IMHO all 3 guys are great, and Arie's tweet sure sounds intriguing...but boy, when I log on here each time, my eyes are drawn right to Roberto's pic....

From an interview Sean did about the RealBeanz scavenger hunt...
The rumor mill is going crazy about you being the next Bachelor. If it was offered to you, would you do it?
If I were to be asked, I would have to think long and hard about it. My main concern is that the whole process was emotionally and physically taxing. Do I want to subject myself to that again? I don’t know. At the same time, I was pretty cynical going into The Bachelorette, but a few weeks into it I realized, ‘Wow, this can actually work.” So I do believe in the process. I do think it can work.
If you were chosen, what would you bring to table?
I’m a guy who knows what I want. There are three main qualities I’m looking for in a woman. She has to be sweet, she has to have a good heart and be genuine. She has to be smart. And she needs to be funny. I’m looking for someone quick-witted who can keep me on my toes and, just you know, have a good time.
How would you feel if it went to Roberto [Martinez] or Arie [Luyendyk Jr.] instead?
I don’t actually know Roberto, but everyone I talk to says he’s a super nice guy. And I know Arie very well. Arie’s a great guy, he’s a sweetheart. But he’s very different from me. He’s a European race car driver, I’m more the all-American type. But I think either of them would make great Bachelors.

I posted my displeasure with this quote on the other thread and I'm going to post it here. Yes, Sean, point out how "different" and "foreign" Arie is. Make sure you tell everyone that his parents are immigrants and that they barely speak English. And then let everyone know that you're the "real" American and by virtue of that, you're much better than any foreigner could ever be. Never mind that Arie has lived in this country for more years than you've been alive. He's still "different." What an absolute dick Sean is. I am officially through with him.

I was thru with him after the Emily O'Brien tweet (I don't care if it was some kind of joke...it was disrespectful to tweet to the world) but the above quote is the final nail in his coffin for me. I think it was a diss on Roberto being Hispanic, too. Disappointing.

First of all, I'd like to say that I am most definitely NOT trying to tell anyone how they should feel. However, I wanted to say that I believe you may have misinterpreted Sean's comment or are reading more into it than is written. Sean is an upstanding guy with many friends (and ex-girlfriends) of varying races, backgrounds, even nationalities. I don't think he meant to degrade Arie in ANY way at all, and as far as I can tell, he never actually used the words "immigrant" or "foreign" in reference to Arie or his family. By virtue of simple fact, yes, Arie is a European race car driver, and correct me if I'm wrong, but that isn't exactly a derogatory term. I believe Sean was simply saying that they would produce very different shows with completely different audience draws.

I'm right there with you. I thought it was a dumb comment to say the least. I realize that he's campaigning for himself, but this is not the most intelligent way of trying to sell yourself. What does being a European race car driver have to do with anything?
I don't know...if he keeps up with the dumb comments then the verbal diarrhea is going to reach Ry guy proportions.

How is it a fact that Arie is European? Arie has been in the U.S. longer than Sean has been alive. He came to the US when he was two, has lived in the U.S. virtually his entire life, gone to school here, worked here. His parents might be European, but he's as American as I am. Two years as a toddler living in the Netherlands does not make him European. And as far as producing different shows, I don't see how their nationalities would make any difference, since they're both American. So why did Sean bring it up? Because I think he believes that being "all-American" (and not a bit foreign) gives him an advantage over a European and a Latino. Would it have been appropriate for Sean to say that he was different from Roberto because Roberto is a Hispanic insurance agent? Sorry, nothing you can say is going to change my now confirmed opinion that Sean is a dick.

I agree laurie8481
Tho I am team Arie all the way, I believe Sean to be a good guy & just meant just that they are 2 different types of guys.

Re: The Bachelor 17 - Speculation/Spoilers - Discussion
Besides being a pig about women and now a jerk about Arie, Sean's also showing his bachelor ignorance. Jesse Palmer is Canadian, Matt is British and Lorenzo has Italian ancestry that was played up during his season. So it's a non-issue that Arie was born in the Netherlands and grew up in America.
