I do think they were interested in getting Roberto simply because he's a) a known quantity and b) the pending lawsuit. Given that it now seems as though Roberto is not interested I believe they are going back to their original choice of Arie (perhaps he's balking a bit because they left him hanging when Roberto entered the picture).

There was also some speculation that the delay might have to do with managing him being TB in addition to his racing career, which he seems to be resurrecting. Issues like his sponsors maybe having to view TB contract, trying to get certain concessions (for instance if he stays in the October race), etc. It might have gotten a little more complicated than a standard offer.

But Roberto filling the racial diversity gap is lame.. (not you- but MF). I think to fill that gap they need to go african american. Surely they can find some big hunky fella. :Smiley:

So glad you brought this up! This morning, I think it was on the Today Show, they showed the new Old Spice commercial with that hunky black guy. The commercial itself was a riot, but I could not help thinking what a great bachelor a great all around black man would be. I would enjoy that, alot.

Didn't see that- but yes I would enjoy it. Now if they did something stupid like have a african american bach and a majority of white women, they would be in for a world of pain... media wise..

ITA especially of his final 3 were white or the final two were black and white. All kinds of drama if he didn't stay true to his roots and choose the black girl. I don't see how this owuldn't be a world of pain!

I still believe that Arie has been tptb choice for the next Bachelor all along so, I'm thinking that the girls who have been cast were done so with him in mind.

I hope there's a good balance between the "characters" Fleiss likes to include and some quality girls. And I suspect there are going to be some high adrenaline dates!

There had better be quality girls for Arie. They certainly went out of their way for Emily, I hope they have the same consideration for Arie. And then yes throw in a few headcases for fun and entertainment.
Lochte- Ben Stiller should do a Lochte bachelor parody. Actually it could be an incredibly funny season- if you took it that way and didn't get serious about it.
I am thinking Neil Lane needs a Lochte so he doesn't have to keep forking out money for these rings. JASH is coming up to the keeping the ring deadline. And then you have the maybes ben/court, JEM..

According to CH, the lead sets the tone for the behavior of the rest of the cast to some degree. If Ben's girls were extra competitive, aggressive and catty, it's because Ben's attitude on the show was (or at least started out as) that of a party guy, and the girls responded accordingly. Brad was much more buttoned up, and shenanigans were NOT rewarded, and the ladies behaved themselves more. In CH's opinion.

So if true, then how the women act will be in part influenced by Arie, and how he conducts himself.

Maybe that's true, I haven't thought of it that way, but still I think that if they cast trashy women, they will act trashy no matter what. The nasty behavior will come out I guess!!

That's the one thing that worries me for this coming season... I really wish the best for these 3 guys!!

That is probably true. But I still think MF is underestimating how fans many would embrace watching a black bachelor or bachelorette as the lead.

I would love the diversity, but as far as sleuthing goes, I could seriously see if the F2 were racially different seeing the machine photoshopping complexions. I'm surprised they haven't done hair color yet.

This is very true and I think it's one of the reasons they are having a hard time considering it. If the boards have been contentious this season I can't even imagine what they would be like during a season like that. I personally don't care one way or the other but there are many who have very strong feelings regarding mixed races that it could be a bomb going off. The only season where it almost worked was during Matt's season - but that was pretty much a set-up season all along anyway. I don't remember much controversy but then I wasn't on the boards much and the girl didn't make it to htd's.

Now, I've got people coming in after dinner and I have to do some stuff around the house. If you see me posting again today, tell me to 'get lost' and I promise not to be offended.

Hmmm... Does that mean we will see the women throwing Arie against the wall? The poor guy is going to be manhandled. He will choose no one and head to Tibet for some escape...
