This is a good point. Last year, they saw a bump in ABC's ratings for the Indy 500 and many said that it was because of Helio's appearances on DWTS. So, if Arie were the Bachelor, I would think they could expect some bump in viewership if he were driving in the race. I still think the hang-up with Arie, if he isn't named the Bachelor, might be because he went "rogue" on them. First, if rumors are true, during the LCD when he supposedly walked out and had to be lured back. And also, when he snuck off to Charlotte to deliver the journal, which was completely a breach of contract.

I am curious about what the news is in terms of who he's meeting with today, who he's partnering up with business wise, etc. It seems from his tour and then the fb game last night that it could be muscle milk, but I'm wondering what the professional and personal news that he mentioned after his trip to LA a couple of weeks ago for the fundraiswer was related to. After that event, that tweet, his new twitter bio, etc it screamed TB to me. So, if he's not it, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that he was at least led to believe or under the impression that it was going to be him for a time and then all of a sudden it wasn't (his tweet last week about being positive no matter what - paraphrasing). If they REALLY haven't told the person who it's going to be, they are really risking it. Both Sean and Arie seemed to have booked things during filming that while they could get out of, it certainly gives the impression they aren't sitting around waiting for MF to call. Good for them.

Although anyone can back out of plans or events, I think if Arie is really going to be racing soon, he's more than likely not going to give up that chance, with a lot of sponsers, training, executives, money, traveling, etc, for TB. Unless they are going to work his schedule and commitments into his contract, he's a smart guy and worked way to hard to get a ride to throw it away for reality TV. He's not stupid.

It could be that they really do want Arie but he's not been able to commit to it while working out sponsers and rides. Thus, no decision. If they really only wanted Sean, I would think that could have been finalized and signed a long time ago.

I'm pretty sure that he's meeting with Pickett Racing/Muscle Milk Racing. They took him to the Raiders game last night. He visited the Muscle Milk offices in San Fran. Pickett Racing his headquartered just outside San Fran. Right now, they have a team for the American LeMans Series. According to Arie Sr., Arie Jr. will be driving in the ALMS Petit LeMans race in Atlanta in mid-October with Townsend Bell (an IndyCar/ALMS driver). Bell is not on the Pickett Racing team, he has another sponsor. Arie mentioned that he hoped to be in a couple of races. I suspect he might drive in the Baltimore race next week, probably in the ALMS event with takes place a few days before the Indy event. So, for next year, he might be driving full time in ALMS (10 races) or he may be doing both Indy and ALMS (Townsend Bell and Simon Pagenaud, both Indy drivers, do both). Except for the Petit LeMans, this is just my speculation, but it makes sense.

So, for next year, he might be driving full time in ALMS (10 races) or he may be doing both Indy and ALMS (Townsend Bell and Simon Pagenaud, both Indy drivers, do both).

I didnt know you could do both.
Ben was filming promos in San Fransisco on August 22 and people saw it and tweeted. That's how we found out. I think US Weekly had a story about it in late August too.

Apparently they have a quasi official relationship with the show. (Yup - dont need to touch that with a ten foot pole.......)

They are running really late this year. I would love to know why. Maybe they've had to send Lochte's STD testing out for a retest. I'm sorry. That was mean. But after his comments about making sure he had no girlfriend cramp his style at the London Olympics, I think he deserves it.

Exactly! If the latest news means that Arie has decided to make other plans, good for him. I don't think Sean is dynamic enough to carry the show, which may mean lost viewers and lower ratings, but that's too bad for Fleiss. Arie is better off going in his own direction.

Yep! If they wanted Sean they have him anytime. Sean, IMO, is just a hotter version of Ben, boring and not leading man character. Not interested in another Courtney type season so would hope they can be lucky enough to grab Arie! Lochte would be entertaining for all the wrong reasons, but dang I would be glued to the tv! Hugesmile

Okay. We've been assuming that the delay is in who to pick for the next Bachelor.

But ratings have been down, and do we even know for sure that the show has been picked up again?

That's certainly a conceivable cause for delay. "Don't start filmng yet, Mike, because we don't know if we're going to have a slot for the show next spring."

I think this was researched a while ago. Both the Bachelor and Bachelorette have been picked up again as of this point.

Actually the ratings were up from the previous season of the Bachelorette. Don't know about the ratings for the Bachelor but both were renewed.

I think this was researched a while ago. Both the Bachelor and Bachelorette have been picked up again as of this point.

Reality shows are some of the cheapest to produce for television. Though the Bachelor goes to all sorts of exotic locations, most of those are provided free of charge or at low cost for credits and product placement. And if the ratings do go down and the ad revenues drop, they can simply lower production costs, pay their lead less, spend less on wardrobe, etc, etc. and thereby charge the network less for the show. That's why it's been on the air so long. And if ABC would drop it, I'd bet it would be picked up by Lifetime or USA or even Bravo. It's their demographic.
