Re: Bachelorette 8 - Media - Thread #3
Quite a different picture the actual transcript painted from the couple of paragraph, paraphrased article posted earlier today. Relationships go both ways, even ones that begin in a setting like this. I think Jef showed a lot of self-respect both for himself, and for Emily. Every guy or gal that comes on these shows should feel in a genuine way that they are equally deserving of being sought after.canyonvue wrote:luluvega wrote:cupcakes wrote:Here you go:
I think it was kind of cool to make her wait, because like I said, all the other guys were just like chasing her and right out there in front, and I was the one guy who was just like, "You're going to have to fight for me too! I don't want to be the only guy who's pursuing you here. I want you to pursue me and I want it to be like a mutual thing, and if we develop feelings for or a relationship with each other, then I want it to be both ways."
I very much got this impression in the beginning and I know others did too as I recall it being discussed. And frankly I like it. Yes, the lead is there to be chased but at the same time s/he should be showing the bach/ettes that the interest is mutual.
Oh and look. The REPORTER is the one that used the word strategy. Ain't that funny?
Thank you cupcakes!
I did, too. He had a little self respect.

And Jef - you didnt have to talk about financial things. Emily knew a bit about you from Michelle and Doug. And she knows how to google. Poor Jef.
Generally and cynically speaking, money is currency for men and looks are currency for women. They become a major issue if there is a lack of them. It reminds me of William telling Ashley that he's not educated, doesn't have money and sells phones and she was all "Oh I don't care at all!" Right. Jef's money doesn't matter to Emily because he clearly has plenty of it, just like JP's education didn't matter since he had plenty of it. JMO.
True.

IMO the good guys are the ones who go into the experience open and honest and don't play any games.
The ones like Arie that can so quickly fall in love??

He probably took her there because it was his home at one time , too. Maybe he grew up there.canyonvue wrote:tigertiz wrote:Hilarious. I don't think it's hilarious. That's still a concern of mine. But he could also be absolutely right that it's completely chemistry. Rich guys can find true chemistry out there, too, even though it's really hard for a lot of people to believe.
Hey, I went to the CEO of People Water's HUGE house and I met Jef. I didn't like Jef for his money and his friends' money. I liked Jef for Jef.
According to this one site, People Water is doing quite well and Jef's net worth is 3 million. Who knows how much Holm senior is worth, but a lot more than that.

I guess I'm not getting where this is going. So I'll ask, do you think Jef shouldn't have taken her there because there's a perception she's a gold digger or just in it for the money? or is it about after the show, and if he and Emily don't work out, the next long line of women waiting in line to have a shot to be with him and his money?tigertiz wrote:cv - I was being sarcastic. I don't know where he took her, but he took her to a place with a beautiful romantic setting...if that was on his parents' private ranch, I can understand that. I'm really trying to get people's different perspectives to my own.

So these interviews are new this year...I don't even know if they're worth it or not... more ppl tuning in because they've read this? not even sure....They gave out the Final 3 ahead of time even though they're still 6 guys at this point in time on the show...I don't think TPTB will go so far to have Chris do an interview either... For my part, nice to hear that all the guys seems to be doing well...

Why shouldn't he go where he wants to go at that point of his date? Why must he not share that with her? Did he personally say he didn't want women not to want him for his money/deep pockets? If they didn't talk about it to each other up until that point of HTDs, fine. If she googled him and found out ahead of time, fine. But I don't think Emily is at all destitute and just looking for the money. From what I understand, she comes from a family with money, she has money, and Ricki is taken care of.
It is my impression from what I've read, heard BACH people say in interviews. etc. that Emily does not have to worry about money. I think the Hendricks do help with Ricki but Emily comes from money, her dad owns a coal mining company. As Krisily Kennedy said in a recent interview, Emily already has the shoes, the clothes, etc. and is not a goldigger. I think the money thing is a not an issue unless you want to say she doesn't want someone she has to support. Sounds like that is more the case. Anyway that is the impression I get.
BTW, the HTD was hosted at the ranch not the mansion.

Also, no "like"s which kind of makes me sad!
All the "likes" were replaced by "cool" this time. Count 'um!

And then in the interview it didn't quite play out the way the article casually said. I think Jef's approach was a good one...a well thought out manner in which to handle being there, get comfortable being there and begin that friendship he says he wants with a future wife. I bet it's really funny to sit back and watch everyone else try to outdo themselves, fall all over themselves and quietly take it all in. And then when Emily does seek him out, they have a good time getting to know each other.LoveDovez wrote:Piper61 wrote:It's such an aggregious lie, right? Not so much. I don't think he "lied", it was a moment they talked and joked about. And for all we know, that's partly why he threw that out there in the interview. He asked her if it worked, she basically said yes it had, and that's when he said, yeah, it was a strategy.cindebugg wrote:lavenderred wrote:I'm sorry but this is considered trustworthy behaviour? It sounds pretty dishonest to me.Jef said that his and Emily's relationship took a while to develop because it started as a friendship first. He told me that it was a strategy to keep Emily guessing and keep her on her toes when it came to his feelings at first. He said that all of the other guys would jump up and get her drinks and fight for time with her, but he took a more laid back approach and he thinks it worked!
I have to agree. We heard him tell Emily that it WASN'T a strategy. So yeah, he pretty much lied to Emily given what we were shown on the last episode.
I'm waiting to see what page it's on where I've gotten so I can't hear my TV correctly. ; )
