Re: Bachelorette 8 - Media - Thread #3
Hilarious. If you want for women not to be attracted to you because of your family's deep pockets, then why have the hometown date at their 15,000 square foot mansion? Why not have it at a sibling's house? (Especially since a sibling hosted it)Jef Holm: I know for a fact that it's 100% percent our chemistry together -- that's why she's attracted to me. And we have never had one time, never one time on the show actually at all period, ever talked about financial things or money or anything like that.
And Jef - you didnt have to talk about financial things. Emily knew a bit about you from Michelle and Doug. And she knows how to google. Poor Jef.

Well, it could be a big old red herring and one of the other two guys is the F1.
Or, since this is the first time they've ever had the F3 do teleconferences while they still on the show, they're still figuring out how to handle things? Unless the questions are all approved beforehand, it's difficult to micromanage the guys' answers. They can probably give them general ideas about how to answer certain things, but maybe not much more than that.
Like I said, I do think Jef is the f1...and knowing how MF loves to bring drama and shock value to these shows, he better have something more than the Arie/Cassie caually dated 9 years ago thing. MF has a reason for letting the f3 give these interviews before they even are the f3...we just haven't found out the "why" he allowed it yet. That's the curious part to me.
Me, too. I like these interviews because we get a different perspective than hearing Emily repeat her PR script and approved talking points. I do think it's a great new tactic yet it's confusing. I get that the Machine wants to control the message but it's still so early to have someone projecting victory. Remember when they wouldn't film the ATFR until right near the end because they feared leaks?
When you toss in the current edit, it's even more intriguing. All I can come up with is that they are seeding the market in preparation for the ending which might be surprising to the unspoiled ala Jason? Remember, the outcry?
Yes but the unspoiled don't dissect every printed word of these contestants and map it to the spoiler like we do. WE are getting the spoiler validated by Jef but the unspoiled viewer is still doing to think that Arie (as an example) has this one in the bag.
Not saying that this spoiler (in the absence of RSs spoilers for this year) have not reached a pretty large viewing audience, definitely the bloggers have all got a wind of it but it is a really strange strategy for tptb to adopt. Have their F1 give hints in an interview to prepare the viewers for the ending ?
I could be wrong but thats how I see it.

I thought we didn't know where the went for the date.. Not a lot of pics on the HTD's. The only one I remember is the mountian one? Am I missing something. I know the threads move fast. I dont go to the screen shot thread often either. He also mentioned for that question the Emily thought, at one point, he might still live at home..

Why shouldn't he go where he wants to go at that point of his date? Why must he not share that with her? Did he personally say he didn't want women not to want him for his money/deep pockets? If they didn't talk about it to each other up until that point of HTDs, fine. If she googled him and found out ahead of time, fine. But I don't think Emily is at all destitute and just looking for the money. From what I understand, she comes from a family with money, she has money, and Ricki is taken care of.

I don't think it's hilarious. That's still a concern of mine. But he could also be absolutely right that it's completely chemistry. Rich guys can find true chemistry out there, too, even though it's really hard for a lot of people to believe.
Hey, I went to the CEO of People Water's HUGE house and I met Jef. I didn't like Jef for his money and his friends' money. I liked Jef for Jef.
According to this one site, People Water is doing quite well and Jef's net worth is 3 million. Who knows how much Holm senior is worth, but a lot more than that.

He took her to his parents' house in St. George, and supposedly to their ranch, too.

And for all we know, that's partly why he threw that out there in the interview. He asked her if it worked, she basically said yes it had, and that's when he said, yeah, it was a strategy.cindebugg wrote:lavenderred wrote:I'm sorry but this is considered trustworthy behaviour? He told me that it was a strategy to keep Emily guessing and keep her on her toes when it came to his feelings at first. He said that all of the other guys would jump up and get her drinks and fight for time with her, but he took a more laid back approach and he thinks it worked!
I have to agree. We heard him tell Emily that it WASN'T a strategy. So yeah, he pretty much lied to Emily given what we were shown on the last episode.
I'm waiting to see what page it's on where I've gotten so I can't hear my TV correctly. ; )

cv - I was being sarcastic. I'd worry if I were him as well. but my point was that he could easily have made it a non issue. He chose not to. I think it wasnt very protective.canyonvue wrote:tigertiz wrote:Hilarious. Generally and cynically speaking, money is currency for men and looks are currency for women. They become a major issue if there is a lack of them. It reminds me of William telling Ashley that he's not educated, doesn't have money and sells phones and she was all "Oh I don't care at all!" Right. Jef's money doesn't matter to Emily because he clearly has plenty of it, just like JP's education didn't matter since he had plenty of it. JMO.
