Oh, I think he's going to be eye candy for alot of people!! I can't wait to see what happened and how the viewers respond. Actually in real life, Arie is more what I lean towards but I just don't think long term, he and Emily are a good fit and I so wanted it to be a success! I do think the camera loves Ryan. I can't wait until pre HTDs while season is airing. I will not pick who I think her F1 is until then.

I am a little surprised that he wasn't shown AT ALL in the first preview! It was so short though so he'll probably be shown alot in other ones coming. :Smiley: Hopefully.

Sounds, crazy but I'll say it again. I'm not sure that it wasn't Ryan's decision. When MF said sometimes a rose is not always a rose, could Ryan be one that said no during the RC in other words decided this process wasn't for him? TPTB had to have been disappointed he left so early cause he's eye candy if nothing else.

The rose is not a rose comment wasn't during a RC day. It was said on a date day mid week.

They may still be trying to leave some mystery to who gets the 1st 1-on-1 date for unspoiled viewers. He will probably be shown when the longer previews come out, as well as alot afte rthe premiere episode.

I'm getting so confused. Wasn't Ryan gone after the London date? Or he made it to Croatia and not Prague? Did he leave then with Kalon?

The first 1:1 date historically highlights a front-runner as of the M&G. Whether that first date goes to someone that the lead really likes or TPTB want as the next lead remains to be seen; either way, that person typically makes it rather far: usually F3 or F4. William is an exception (I think that there's another one in there too.) That this frontrunner drops out--whatever causes his elimination whether by self or Emily's choice--probably surprised TPTB. I even wonder if one of the F4 gained that spot unexpectedly, and which of them is there in lieu of Ryan. In the past, we know that Kacie, Ashley, and Frank were most likely the F2 but were dropped or dropped out at F4/F3. We also know that William and Jake-and some think Ryan Park--were intended for F4, but either the guy did "wrong" by the lead or the lead never took to the guy. With all that background info, it seems like Ryan's situation poses an interesting editing question to the show. He will figure as one of the significant characters of this season, right, since every first 1:1 date person is a big part of that season?

The more important question, though, is if TPTB decide to minimize Ryan's storyline entirely. They could do what they did to William in The Bachelor Pad. I don't think it's been confirmed when he left. RS speculated that it was at the England RC but offered the caveat that Ryan might have gone to Croatia if Emily took more than the usual number of guys. I think it has been established that he was definitely not in Prague.

Someone questioned on one of the threads why the "good ones" - nice looking, good character, etc. are still single on the Bachelor.

It brought to my memory Meredith's F2 Matt who was the fan favorite over the swash-buckling, adventure, wandering, but hot Ian who had trouble telling her he would commit.

Matt, on the other hand, had no trouble telling her he what he would give to her. In a poll, 80 something percent chose Matt. Meredith, of course, chose Ian.

Within a couple of years, we saw online pictures of Matt's engagement and maybe wedding to a gorgeous tall (looked like a model type girl) who sounded like she had the same kind of Christian belifs that he did.

Maybe all it took was the exposure from the Bachelor. Who knows?

I thought RS said that Ryan definitely didn't make it to Prague, unless Emily took more than the 6 guys he knew to be there. I don't recall him specifying whether Ryan was eliminated in England or Croatia at all, although maybe I'm mistaken.

I definitely suspect that the producers expected Ryan to get to at least F4 when they cast him, and gave him the first 1 on 1, but as has already been mentioned, something happened to change that. Either Emily didn't take to him, he didn't take to Emily, it was mutual, or they had some kind of falling out (or obstacle they couldn't overcome). The only 2 times the first 1 on 1 date guy didn't make F4 were William and Jake, and it's pretty much a given that they were both expected to by producers at the start of filming.
