There's some precedence here that might be worth considering. In 2003 the show sued Bob Guiney over a recording contract he secured while he was under an exclusive contract (this is basically the same thing as if Tyler would secure modeling work while still under his contract). The show basically lost that lawsuit on a couple of key issues:

1 - Guiney did not appear as a recording artist on the show - he appeared as simply a private citizen and therefore the exclusivity clause was unenforceable because:
2 - The exclusivity clause does not (cannot) prevent someone from engaging in their profession.
3 - And specifically for Tyler, he did not receive financial consideration for his time on the show (Guiney had) and thus was not an employee of the show.

So Tyler could freely pursue his established profession as a model (which he was) with no interference from the show or his contract with them. IIRC he's already got two dates to model for a CA based clothing company, and I'd be rather completely surprised if he doesn't get more and bigger things in the days / weeks to come. And IMO there would be a valid argument that since he was not appearing on the show as a dancer, but has some dance training, he could do DWTS even if TPTB didn't want him to - as long as ABC wanted him to.

I've lurked for years and posted before, but not for a while. I've been lurking the last few weeks because I can't turn away from a sh!tshow. So excuse me for jumping in to your conversation, but...

I think ABC would want him MORE given the Gigi news. Especially if it was Tyler and Hannah. Built in story line and tabloid fodder during the season, and Gigi is much bigger than anyone on this franchise. I don't see why that would scare them off.

I also don't think they will forgo Tyler for blowing off Hannah if he is in running for the next lead. TPTB care about money and ratings and I don't believe this has significantly damaged his popularity. If anything it keeps the spotlight on him. And if he's dating around with a legit super model before filming, that probably just up's his 'it' factor. Again, built in story line...fell in love with Hannah and got his heart broken, dated a supermodel for a minute, now he's ready to find his forever with a bunch of girls that will be drunkenly insecure because his ex is a super model so can he really love regular old me. The story board writes itself.

Finally, go Tyler! I bet 90% of the population would take your chance with dating a super model for a minute if you aren't deeply in love already. And if his life plan is to model for a few years to make bank, but not build a long term career in entertainment, I'd go with Gigi over TB. Being linked to her can help him do what he might want to do right now...not p!ssing off ABC is a longer term entertainment play. He might not care about that.

The seemingly last-minute interviews from Hannah and CH yesterday were interesting to me. Perhaps they were both part of the press junket for BIP, but it felt more intentional, IMO. Give Hannah the platform to set the record straight again about her status. She did a good job of laughing things off a bit, but her body language, eyes looked a little hurt.

Just my two cents, but everyone saying that the DWTS announcement postponement might be a clue could be on to something. In the past, their announcements shift dates when a celeb drops out, or they haven't filled spots in the cast.

It's probably a good thing that Hannah mentioned wanting to be on DWTS when interviewed by Lauren Zima. They want people on the show who want to be there, and the audience responds very well to those cast. If Hannah becomes a crossover between the two shows, they're going to be most interested in Hannah's story with or without Tyler. She has a built-in following and some sympathy after the Bette.

I think she is living her life and he is doing the same. If anything happens, it will happen. At the end of the day, we don't know how much contact they have or if any. What was discuss when they hung out. So I can't speculate. We will see...

I tend to agree with this.  When you look at some of the more recent past contestants, they are trying to draw more viewers from the millennial age group.  Bring on the hot contestant from TB that was a heartbroken F2 and is now hanging out with a "supermodel".  I can see ABC trying this... especially if they can get GiGi in the audience on premiere night.

I don't think Tyler was EVER on their radar for the next lead.  IMO it has been Peter's all along. I think Tyler came out of left field and his popularity is something I don't think they expected at all. He had a good enough story but even in post filming interviews he was not mentioned as someone the fans would love... that was Jed!

The interviews were a part of the larger press for the TCAs. CH is always there it seems and many times the current or more recent lead is there for press. The topics in the interviews may have changed slightly with the Gigi news but I’m betting CH and Hannah were already scheduled to be interviewed.

I think the only thing that Chris H. has been doing after the finale was trying to manage expectations. The fans (myself included) went nuts after Tyler was photographed leaving Hannah's apartment in the morning with an overnight bag. IMO what CH is saying is that Hannah and Tyler are friends, they both have some residual feelings for each other, and will likely keep in touch. He's not wrong that Tyler was Hannah's 2nd or 3rd choice. IMO Tyler and Hannah are *both* not ready to dive right back into the water with each other.

As for Gigi, I don't blame her for dating Tyler. He's the "it" guy of the moment, he's handsome, educated, and personable, and his head is on straight. As for Tyler, Gigi is close at hand, beautiful, successful, and in the same industry. Why ever not? I really like the fact that they went on a group date bowling with their friends. There is something really wholesome about that.

I'm sure that the Bachelor producers are keeping an eye on the situation. They have two or three top contenders, and probably a few more men in mind as well. Tyler may or may not be their top choice at the moment. If Tyler takes himself out of the running by choice or by chance, the show will have another man ready to go. They always do. If the show's producers could move on after not securing Peter Krause for the lead (who was also wildly popular,) they can certainly move on if Tyler decides otherwise.

I think my only concern is that Tyler minds his PR. Given his good reputation, he doesn't want to be seen as being a hound dog. CH was right, all Tyler has to do is look at what is happening to Blake on Paradise to see what can happen with that. Ben H. also gave him some good advice to not let his sudden popularity go to his head.

I posted in the DWTS Cast thread some history on the last several fall season announcements.  In the last 3 seasons, there has only been 1 early announcement of a celebrity and that was only 2 days early.  They have announced their pros earlier than that though.

IMO, the announcement could have been to coincide with the BIP premiere if it was Tyler.  But the mass shootings over the weekend changed everything.  Evidently ABC chose to concentrate on that (I don't watch GMA).  So, in my mind, the need for the early announcement has gone away if it was to be a tie-in to the premiere of another ABC show.  I don't think we will see anything until the end of the month... when rehearsals will start and movement of people will be noticed.  For instance, Tyler... is he spending more time or even all his time in LA.

Hannah is already there so not as easy to track.
