Re: Bachelor 23 - Colton Underwood - General Discussion - *Sleuthing Spoilers*
Yep, I completely see that they are ALWAYS going to prefer the docile, malleable ( read: easy to manipulate) contestants to make sure they have as much control as possible for the sake of their sick storyline or having fake drama filled episode to get the ratings.
As I said, I’m kind of relieved ( had said that back much earlier) that both Jason and Blake are not chosen. Hopefully, they stay AWAY as much as possible from BN ( within the terms of their remaining contracts), and have wonderful opportunities come their way no matter what.

I don’t agree with that at all because first of all ... they’re ALL easy to manipulate ... Jason and Blake would have done what tptb wanted them to do ... that’s MFs super power ... so that’s a non factor IMHOAstrobach wrote:Yep, I completely see that they are ALWAYS going to prefer the docile, malleable ( read: easy to manipulate) contestants to make sure they have as much control as possible for the sake of their sick storyline or having fake drama filled episode to get the ratings.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that a favourite dodged a bullet when they didn’t get the lead .... I’d be counting out the money like John does on BIP intro...

Yeah...the only lead who really stood up to the producers was Juan Pablo. Other than him, they all go along with whatever the producers want.
I think it's better for fans not to see their favorite in the lead position, because it inevitably leads to them being knocked off the pedestal, but for the contestant? I still think most of them would give anything and everything to be the lead. These people love the fame and money, even the ones that seem normal. Practically every contestant who has finished final four (not including leads and winners) has done BIP/WG, so I'm sure no one is disappearing from the Bachelor world anytime soon anyways.
IMO.

I don’t think it was going to be Blake at all but it doesn’t matter now since they picked Colton. They must have had something in mind for this season that he fit. We don’t have to agree with it or be happy about it but they call the shots.

I hope TPTB mix it up a bit this season and invite Sacha Barron Cohen to advise Colton

Lol, if they do show up, it would be to ask Colton “hey dude, how the F are you the bachelor?”

"yeah...the only lead who really stood up to the producers was Juan Pablo. Other than him, they all go along with whatever the producers want. "
OTOH, I think they choose the lead who is naive and malleable and goes along. If they have an inkling a candidate for next lead may have an independent mind, than they don't go with that person. So to say that those not chosen would also be easy to manipulate is IMO incorrect; that's WHY they didn't get chosen.
IMO one reason F2's rarely get chosen, I think, is because they know a lot of what goes on at the end, in the last week. The egregious manipulations and breaking of hearts and stuff behind the scenes that we viewers will never know about but can guess at. So that F2 (and F3 sometimes) can ask more questions as they are being courted for next lead, to ensure that type of thing won't happen on their season, and those questions they ask or terms they may demand gets them striked out. Just my opinion of course.
The best part about this show is this forum!! That may be the only reason I watch !

Astrobach wrote:Thanks @Joy15 maybe not definitive but pretty close to what I thought. Which is that it’s seems very rare that they go to the F4 for the Bach. So, the scenario that Blake was probably set to be it but somehow held his own ‘ more’ than expected , and maybe Jason as well, it went down the line to Colton, just a theory of course as we see their weird logic now, but still, I cannot believe they purposely passed up on these two jewels of guys with the firm intention to have Colton. I guess we may never fully know. God knows, Colton did EVERYTHING they wanted and more to get the gig. To hear him say he wants to find his wife by the end of the Bach. is SO ludicrous, and shows even more ( as if we needed it) how immature and insecure he is. I feel bad for him, it’s almost delusional at this point.
I agree with everything you said except for that last sentence. I don't feel bad for him at all. He got the gig that he wanted and now he will have to deal with the aftermath. Personally, I hope they throw the book at him. Not sure if I will even bother to watch, but if I do it will be one of those seasons where I half watch and FF through much and hate on the rest. I may have to check in just to see if they followed my script.

I think I will be able to watch this season with detachment and wonderment that they got Colton to follow whatever whacky script/theme/story line they throw at him. Since I will have no involvement in C's "journey" it will be an opportunity to spend more time on the snark side of this forum.

Re: Bachelor 23 - Colton Underwood - General Discussion - *Sleuthing Spoilers*
I'm starting to think the producers really like Jason and Blake and didn't have a heart to mess with them.
Blake is too fragile and has a tender loving heart and Jason has a real profession, he's a corporate banker and he won't be able to deal with client companies if his image is tarnished by this show.
They have to choose someone who literally has nothing to lose as he is unemployed, incredibly phony, doesn't know how to truly connect with a woman, doesn't know anything about a woman as he waits for instructions from the host minutes before rose ceremony, only dates women who are "it girls" according to Raven, refers to himself as a "decent human being" and gives us his charity that he names after himself to prove that he is, he cries about his virginity every chance he gets, announces that he doesn't wear underwear (im picturing skidmarks on white pants ewwe) list goes on... guy is a walking reality cartoon character, goldmine for tbtp as viewers want to make memes, tweet about it and hatewatch it.
Everytime TBTP listens to the fans, it ends up a total disaster for them -- Juan Pablo, Peter .. so yeah we are being punished.
