Bachelorette 14 - Becca Kufrin - Media SM - Discussion - *Sleuthing Spoilers* #5

What does any of this have to do with politics   ? What does a grown man liking a post bullying teenagers who survived a traumatic event have to with politics? I don't consider LGBTQ rights or respecting women a political issue either, & immigration may fall under politics but liking a post about throwing a child back over "the wall" isn't political and it isn't funny imo. It's about decency and so far I find Garrett lacking significantly tbh and no one else has to agree with me but I'll continue to state my opinions within the rules.

And, those of us who believe in not judging others without knowing them can state their opinions within the rules.  People make mistakes, if he is truly sorry for what he did, he deserves a second chance.

I look at it like this - it’s one thing to have different political views. I have loved ones I don’t agree with when it comes to politics and that’s okay.

What I question is if your loved one was killed in a horrific school shooting, would you be okay with someone calling it fake? If your loved one was gay, would you be okay with people mocking them and being homophobic? If your loved one was overweight, would you be okay with them being mocked? These questions aren’t directed at anyone in particular. It’s more so just hypothetical questions. It’s just about human decency and respect, which Garrett isn’t showing IMO.

A person that thinks like that is not going to change his views and beliefs for nobody, he was probably raised like that or along the way developed those values / ideas. Becca will forgive him ( love is blind) and in a year or couple or years is going to be over. You can hide who you are.

I will not judge his views even if i differ. My ex husband was like that, that is why we divorce. I married young(20) and i didnt ask the right questions( I was ignorant) but you live you learn as alanis morrisette song

Immigration reform is a political issue. Joking about throwing a child who had literal zero say in the matter across the wall is not.

Gay marriage is a political issue. Mocking children who are gay is not.

Women's equality is a potlical issue. Mocking women who are fat is not.

Guns' rights is a political issue. Dismissing the suffering and tragic murders of *children* is not.

Maybe he'll change. I think that if the guy is pushing 30 and still believes that a school shooting was a really well acted scene is probably not going to do a 180, but, hey, crazier things have happened. Once that happens, we can talk. At this point the guy had done nothing to show he's sorry or regrets his beliefs, just tries to delete his actions from the world every time he's caught. I can only judge him on what he's done, not some hypothetical of what he one day might do. IMO.

if only i could be a fly on becca and garretts wall! what was he thinking look at the end of the day if Becca is happy i am happy but if Garrett has blindsided her with anything(like his beliefs) he may need to go in hiding......is it too soon to say poor becca? man i just wish this season would start airing already i need to see this guy in action and why she chose him...jmo

Hi I never post here but I think the below is important to think about before a person is skewered on the internet....
All we know is Garrett recently or some time ago liked some alt right leaning humor posts, of extremely bad taste. I'm sure he'll see the wrath of that via social media/media picking it up etc.

BUT I'd hate to think it's possible to characterize a person as a good or bad human being by a few likes on Instagram. We don't know the extent of his political leanings, we don't know his true character, we don't really know who he is at all. I don't think Instagram defines that.

Lastly, Garrett was a nobody a few months ago and with the freedom to like any random (good or bad) pictures on Instagram with no repercussions. I know that doesn't excuse him, but I don't think the guy understands the magnitude of his online image - and goodness I hope he recognizes now.
I hope he will learn from his mistakes, clear the air if necessary, and as his fiance RJK will put him in line (both image wise and politically)

One more time: this forum does NOT discuss politics.
Many past cast have been spoken about(posted about) in scathing terms or the opposite due to values, beliefs or actions.
This is a discussion thread. I would advise anyone not sure about the rules to review them.
We can and will discuss cast within those rules as we have past seasons.
We will not violate those rules by castigating and/or shaming members for their opinions.
