Anything for ratings. Nothing would surprise me.
I mean sooner or later one of these folks has got to be either famewhorish enough or incredibly dumb and easily manipulated enough to do it. MF will get what he wants one day!
Hey maybe Arie is so excited for this finale because he and Lauren are getting married at the ATFR? That will prove all us naysayers wrong!
Forget a proposal at the ATFR. I've raised my standards since last night. I want to see a wedding now!

IMO a problem is that there's only so many different ways the show has come up with to make every season "the most dramatic ever" - beating out previous seasons by a nose in a photo finish. At one time the "in love with two women" was dramatic when simply being said in an ITM. But as viewers got desensitized and bored with that it migrated to the lead actually saying ILY to two women and now that almost seems to be a "given" (IMO). MF also salivated over the chance to film a breakup (Jason's season) but now we are seeing that story line once again repeated. When I see rinse / wash / repeat cycles I start seeing those stories as less organic and more scripted. JMHO

Could the realization that she was on a dating show have made the ex jealous and decide to commit? I think I've seen that story before ...Amethyst wrote:I think like many, I'm curious about Becca's relationship with her ex-boyfriend. I confess, I am curious about Becca's "on again off again seven-year relationship" with coach guy too. To my mind, it does not sound like it has been a relationship in the true sense, for years - at least, not to Becca from the way she talked about his visits and also that he got her through a bad time. I also don't believe that in all that time she has lived the life of a monk!! Anyone feel free to educate, but unless the breaks are five seconds long, they both would have had other relationships in between their breaks. If you factor in that they were not even in the same State sometimes, the chances of there being other relationships increases exponentially. IMO, this was nothing more than a constant regression back to the familiar, I am sure there is a better slang for it . At some point, someone, had to see that this was going nowhere and I assume that was Becca. ITA with @Lucas15, waving another man in front of coach guy or Arie is like a red flag in front of a Bull - It definitely brings out the competitiveness. But this only explains coach guy trying to get Becca back. What made Arie take leave of his senses though, if he was that into LB? I am still stuck there.

Perhaps winning was more important to Arie. Or the deleted scene in another thread from Italy shows Arie very comfortable and affectionate with Becca.
JMO, Lauren may have been Emily 2.0, but Becca was still something. Arie can minimize it all he wants now, but he did have feelings toward Becca.
And as for not seeing it on screen, the editors maybe now helping Arie’s Lauren story and reducing the Becca affection on purpose. Who knows?
As for Becca’s ex, she had some pretty serious crap happening in her life, if the comfort of someone who cared helped. I will not blame her. As for other people, the five years around my sister’s death and father’s accident took so much energy from me, I was abstinent by lack of energy to do anything about it. Sometimes, that just is not the biggest priority in the world. JMO.

I have a question .... when and where does Becca’s ex propose to her? When did Arie find out about it? This could have a bearing on a proposal and swithcheroo

I did quite a bit of investigating on Becca's ex and laid out what I found in another post here.. In a nutshell, his jobs have taken him to other states in the last 5 years. It is my opinion that the relationship was a college thing and when they graduated and started their careers it became more of the on-and-off relationship. They quite possibly only saw each other when he was back in Minnesota and like you said it was "familiar".

Becca and Arie are very natural together. There’s an ease and a comfort. I think the edit even changed after the switch so we’re not really getting Arie and Becca’s lovestory. But I think there was one. And I think he thought Becca made the most sense, until he got back home and realized she didn’t. That he kept thinking of Lauren. But to be honest I don’t think his feelings for Lauren were way astronomically bigger. He was torn. He made the wrong call. It is what it is. I respect him for being true to his feelings. I don’t respect how he handed it.

I think he shows up at F3 sometime during the fantasy dates.

This bothers me as well. I cannot imagine how he got off work to go. It wasn't hard for me to find out where he was working at that time and I really cannot imagine his employer allowing him to leave his job for a cameo on a reality tv show.
All I can think about is jet lag both flying into Peru and back to the states. The exes coming back is such a hyped up way to produce drama. Maybe it will work one day with someone .
Depending on where in the US the ex flew from there may not be any jet lag...or very little.
My question is if they knew Arie was leaning the other way...did they have Lauren's ex on stand bye?
You could be the juiciest, most ripe peach, but there is still going to be someone who doesn't like peaches.

Could the ex proposing and her turning him down, be the catalyst that prompts Arie to choose Becca over Lauren? Does he feel obligated to propose to her after she turned down a proposal for him? Not saying it was a pity proposal at the time, but just a swaying factor, especially after feel very conflicted between the two?
