I'm not saying it's a joke or not something to want to take seriously into the real world.Ladybug82 wrote:While we here may not take the engagement seriously, more of a will you date me in the real world, we can not say the the ones getting engaged didn't take it seriously.
Jojo and Jordan, Rachel and Bryan and Kaitlyn and Shawn all have taken it pretty seriously, IMO. They've dated and worked out life together without rushing to get to marriage since they did everything so fast to start with. And they may want another private proposal just for them down the road, but they are engaged.
So all relationships and engagements on this show are not taken as a joke.
JMO
What I am saying is IMO not to be likened to what many engagements are, a commitment to get married within a limited future time frame(a year? 18 months?) vs a commitment to date and get to know each other and then hopefully maybe lead to marriage down the road. That's all I'm saying.
I may like Mario Cart and want to learn to drive or drive a race car after playing it, but I can't take my playing this game as reasoning for thinking I am a good candidate for Nascar. Same IMO with the shows engagement.
It's great it has worked for some. That's great. The best example I can think of is Des and Chris, for reasons similar to her ending and the thought of many that she chose a default and it would never last. She mentioned on a recent podcast that viewers were never shown the true story and she was very frustrated.
For many it has not worked, whether it has been months or days.
All I'm saying is I will be interested in seeing how it plays out.

Re: Bachelor 22 - Arie Luyendyk Jr - Episodes - Feb 19th - *Sleuthing - Spoilers*
I think that a lot of people are angry at the fact that Arie and Becca broke up so quickly and he got with Lauren so quickly. Obviously I don’t think people expect Arie to stick it out with Becca until the finale if he wasn’t feeling it was going to work. People would have rathered them break up and for the remainder of the airing of the show, Arie stay single until at least after the airing of the finale and ATFR show. Then date Lauren away from cameras. (However, can you imagine Arie letting producers know about the break up and how he wanted to date Lauren? In no way would they have passed up the opportunity to show this and let it all wait until after the show finished airing!) IMO
What is confusing is the why’s. Why did they break up so quickly? Why did he immediately start dating Lauren? Why did they film the break up? All I can think of is it is all ratings gold. But even then, I am just guessing. It will be interesting just to see what they choose to show us and how it all happens. JMO

@sanlee088 I think that “confusion” of why and how opens up discussions of Arie’s past . Some see a correlation of past behaviors , some don’t . It’s not like Arie hasn’t left a few breadcrumbs that might give insight into his thought process or patterns.
Some want to cut him a break now, some wait for a future time . Arie has been a bit polarizing to say the least.
I do think Arie will give monogamy a shot with Lauren partly to prove his critics wrong . After all we’ve learned he didn’t like his rep being called into question by Krystal , why not BN. Whether he succeeds or fails is up to him . However, if his past has any basis, there can be questions . It has been an interesting conversation to me. Coming to this Forum, I feel like I was baptized with fire . What a season to get interested . Jmo

@Stone_Hedge he has been part of BN for a long time--over 5 yrs? So if he had a reputation of being a giggalo I don't remember it being hashed over and over. IDK. I don't think that dragon is going to rear it's ugly head. Just me.

While he has been part of BN for that long....he has been on the far, far, far periphery. We talked about his reputation at length when he was cast for Emily's season and then when he was dating Courtney and when her book came out naming him as the best sex she has ever had. Since he hasn't really been on our tv during that time, interest waned...except for a few die hard fans and the brief blip when he almost became the Bachelor last time. Unlike you, I suspect it will become a hot topic again....when he dumps/cheats on Lauren.

Re: Bachelor 22 - Arie Luyendyk Jr - Episodes - Feb 19th - *Sleuthing - Spoilers*
Honestly, I don't think Arie is that different than any other bachelor who's been in his position (with the exception of Sean and his personal beliefs), which is why not one bachelor is married to the woman they proposed to. Of course Jason changed his mind and is now married to Molly. I don't care how many girlfriends any of them have had, or will have. None of them are different really. It seems convenient to rake Arie over the proverbial coals, but in reality I could care less what he does or doesn't do with his life decisions.
If any of them end up getting married on this show, that's a bonus, and that's what we hope for. If not, I don't care. I'm just here for the entertainment!

IA
It's all about the why's for me!
@Kashathediva IA Arie had a fan thread here for a long time. It wasn't that long ago I filed it into archives. He had 31 regular threads as well.

IMO he is different and he isn't. They all have a past, but some we hear more about than others. Arie is one we have heard a lot about, plus he is older than most so he has had more time to build a reputation.
My issue with Arie is strictly with regards to the show. I don't buy his looking to settle down, get himself a wife and have babies. Now, I don't think any of them are really on the show for that purpose, but it just seems as if he is just trying to cram that down my throat. I always have an issue when someone tries to force feed me some BS. The more they push, the less I believe.
Like you, I really don't care. The onus is on the women themselves about what they will allow and what they won't. His reputation proceeds him. If they are just in it for the sex...power to them. If they think they can be the one that will change him...good luck. Either way, don't whine when things don't go your way. However, since he is on this show, I do look at his pattern of behaviour to try to figure out how things may work out. In this case, my issue isn't so much how many women he has slept with, it's more how he has moved on from one to the next ... or seemingly in this case ... lined up the next one, before he is finished with the current one ... or several. He clearly has a pattern...on the show and off...and I don't see it changing for Lauren. Of course, it seems she has a pattern of her own, so they could be a match made in heaven, but I won't hold my breath.

Re: Bachelor 22 - Arie Luyendyk Jr - Episodes - Feb 19th - *Sleuthing - Spoilers*
@Nibbles22 This is how I see it.
I don't know. I haven't heard anything more salacious regarding Arie than any of the other men. I must be missing something minus the RS stuff.
He dated Sydney who he chose not to take to his brother's wedding or exchange an ILY. He dated that other woman on and off (friends with benefits) for years. Single people date.
As far as the show is concerned, there are more cast that come on the show for "the wrong reasons" than for the "right reasons". That's a given. I am not here to say what his reasonings are. IMO all the leads say that. I can't remember a lead including, Jesse Palmer, that has said I'm here to get as much sex as I can and travel and aid my professional life and he gave his F1 a plane ticket to visit.
I don't place one sex more responsible than the other. IMO they basically all are there for reasons other than finding the one to a certain degree. That's ok. It's what's become the show.
In this particular case, I keep coming back to the fact of several variables: the lead, the F1, F2 and an ex that showed up at the very end. I am curious how all these things played out.
I found it highly unusual for SHV which is normally kept secret and usually between the couple and intimate was kind of like a group date 4wheeling and then let out of the bag. Almost sanctioned IMO. IDK is it possible that initial F1 was more torn than realized? IDK. Does her ex play into anything post show? IDK. Lots of questions I have.

I wonder if he'll propose to Lauren on the ATFR? Because that would be hilarious.

I don't think he'll propose. I see a Jason Mesnick ATFR part 2 IMHO.
@Kashathediva good point on the 4wheeling. Why would they sneak around with a group of people when we know SHV's are strictly the two of them. What did they all do after 4wheeling? Go back to a safe house for a bbq? Everyone went home and Arie and Becca checked into a hotel? Makes no sense to me.
