This is certainly a step up for him! At least people are going in knowing Arie and not with any expectation of a man looking to settle down. JMO.

I agree. Right now, TPTB are working in overdrive to try and convince viewers why Arie is a good choice, and as a whole people don't buy  their reasoning that he's "ready to settle down."

If Arie broke up with this Sydney 2 days prior to being announced as TB, then nobody can claim he's there for the "right reasons." Unfortunately, I think this process is going to be very difficult for Arie.

Maybe most viewers don't buy it, but I bought it when I heard Arie say it on GMA.  I didn't detect any fake banter or forced words when he talked with Strahan live about his friends, peers and younger brother finding their life partner and having families and him really wanting that too. 

Call me naive, but his desire to settle down sounded genuine imo.

I agree and think most 35 year old single men are likely dating someone unless they just came off the previous season, IMO. Most men just don't stay single, period. Doesn't mean they've found the one they want to marry or, that they're in love. They're just not alone...mostly because they don't have to be. JMO

I think Arie is more believable to be ready to settle down than the other choice. I didn't buy the other rumored lead option to be close to settling at all.

I think Arie is about as believable as every other male lead who has said they were ready to settle down. He's as believable as CS, and JP, and Nick. JMO. That doesn't mean he won't make a good lead. And it doesn't mean he won't actually find his person and settle down....stranger things have happened.

I'm with those that have said I just want a good lead that makes good tv. I have no expectations about whether this will end in a real happily ever after or in a 3 month relationship post-show. I'm pretty sure that Arie can deliver on that. But I'm taking his 'journey' as seriously as I took CS, JP, and Nick. JMOAA.

Arie knows what he wants. If he didn't find it yet the old fashioned way of dating, fine, maybe it wasn't to be yet. If he wants to be the bachelor to find the one, fine, so be it. One way or another it was his choice to go through the process and I wish him luck.
Choosing to be on the show is what they all have in common. What motivate them to be on the show is the difference.

My point being people have already made up their mind on him one way or another.  I personally liked him during Emily's season, and felt really bad for him. However, post-show he campaigned a lot to become TB, and is alleged to be a serial cheater. I don't care if he sleeps around, but it does bother me that we're supposed to believe he wants to settle down after 5 years of sleeping around and cheating on the girls he's supposed to be in relationships with.

IMO, he's not in this to find a wife, he's had ample opportunity to do that outside this franchise and chose to not to that, but rather to be a player.  I don't fault him for wanting to do the show, it's a great experience, but I don't for one second believe he's sincere about finding a wife through that experience.

I have asked this several times. What proof is there that Arie is a serial cheater. There are far too many asumptions lately in some of the threads. Our rules haven't changed, provide proof of the accusations or posts will be deleted.

Having followed Arie pretty closely since Emily's season, and knowing others who follow him even more closely, I haven't seen any proof of him being a "serial cheater." I guess there are different definitions for "sleeping around" but he certainly doesn't meet my definition of that. My goodness, he's a single man in his thirties--I wouldn't expect him to be home every night by himself.

He said on GMA that he's ready to settle down. I'll choose to believe him rather than a bunch of internet gossips, including RS. Maybe he'll find his person, maybe not. But I do expect good TV.

Did Arie even campaign to be TB, then, now, ever... did I miss something??

Umm, yes. And he recruited some of Bachelor Nation friends so as well. It was really evident back before Chris Soules's season which is when I believe he was last seriously considered for the job.
