Bachelorette 13 - Rachel Lindsay - Episode 2 - *Sleuthing Spoilers*

I mentioned this yesterday but I noticed the camera panned to Bryan a few times when Peter got the date card, he didn't look happy imo and I am wondering if maybe there will be some tension there eventually.. Or if it was just about being upset about not getting the first 1on1..

At this point, I think it's too early to tell if it was because of Peter or due to not getting the 1 on 1. I'm leaning towards not getting the 1 on 1 because IMO Bryan already thinks he's the frontrunner. At least his behavior on Ellen alludes to that.

Did Rachel say on Nick's season that she has never dated a white guy? Or am I wrong? I know Nick talked about it with her but I can't remember. I'm surprised by who Rachel seems to be going after, and who her "type" seems to be.

No she said she never brought a white guy home to meet her parents but she did date white guys

of the men on the show I think Peter came in knowing about her and liking her from Nick's season...he kept alluding to her connections with Wisconsin, that he's had a convo with his dad about her from watching her etc. IMO that's investment. Then he was the guy who was shown giving the most compliments about her beauty and looks from night 1. 

 He's also at the moment the one guy that's truly getting to know Rachel the person and not Rachel the bachelorette. Given he had the most time. The other guys so far are focused on Rachel the bachelorette and wooing her IMO. Sharlene captured it precisely for me -- there was nothing fake or put on about Peter's interest in Rachel - it's very real, organic and passionate. He's not yet effusive about what he says about her and imo that's simply natural and makes him saying those things later much more believable imo.

IMO he doesn't mince his words or go OTT with words so far which is strange for this show because there's a risk of guys knowing what to say to the lead to make her feel good about them. Peter does none of that and I think that's what really sets him apart at the moment. The way their relationship is developing is soo believable to me.

I think Bryan is what Rachel had in her as her ideal guy( older, has successful career, chemistry, banter and he is also a take charge kinda guy which she had repeatedly said attracts her hence the sweep ff the feet kiss). I think Peter is the nice surprise she wasnt expecting to fall for, afterall he is a laid back guy. CH said Rachel likes to plan things and be in control and it must have been familiar to like Bryan and go with all the feelings he was evoking in her as her ideal guy.
But I think every time she spends with Peter pulls her from Bryan. She said it was a struggle and she kept going back and forth but she fell in love with her man just as America will. She must have had no control and given up control to allow her feelings for Peter to take over. A voice over "i am justgoing to let myself fall" must be when she realised she wasnt going to try to control anything anymore.
I believe she is really into Bryan right now and also Peter. I cant wait to see how it all plays out and isnt that what she wants us all to see? Watch how it all plays out she says.....IMO

I have renewed respect for Peter, and Rachel, for bringing up the fact that he had relationship therapy. There is such a stigma around needing and seeking therapy, that you have to appreciate the confidence it takes for anyone to talk about it, on national television!

The trurh is, if a guy brings that up on a first date, I'm not sure he'll get a second one. My go to instinct will be to conclude that there must be something wrong with him. I've always seen Rachel as a honest person, and I'm glad she made Peter comfortable enough to be that transparent with her.

If two accomplished, seemingly put-together people admit to going to relationship therapy, IMO that is the perfect endorsement for relationship therapy.

And if they end with a successful relationship?! What an awesome public plug.

@julychild I really appreciated both their courage to admit that to each other and Rachel's appreciation of it...she was positively giddy at seeing that he works to be self-aware... I really loved how that sets the stage for two imperfect people who need to work on themselves to do well in their relationship...I found the implicit admission of imperfection vulnerable, endearing and a foundation for something so deep and mature like we've never seen on this show before (a show fully focused on infatuation love imo)
