Ben Higgins - Bachelor 20 - Discussion

I can admit Ben would rather come out and say things are okay when they aren't. If I was him, having a relationship in the public eye, I would say/do the same thing. IMO, as soon as a grain of doubt has been planted, people jump on that and creates drama/gossip.

The engaged pair from Bachelor season 20 may not officially be done, but “a breakup has been coming for awhile,” says a source. “They don’t get along. She’s told people recently how hard it is. He’s a great guy, but they should split.”
So the article doesn't say it's directly from Lauren's friends but IMO, it kind of implies it. She starts talking negatively about her relationship with people, those people don't stay quiet. Those people talk to other people, so on and so forth. That's the impression I got from the article. She should probably watch out who she tells things to. Unless this is all started from Lauren herself. That's also possible.

In the grand scheme of things, Ben's "sins" are really minor compared to his bachnation peers IMO, but I just cannot stand this guy. Ugh.

@hannah.e. It's also possible it could be Shaelin hearing from the grapevine. She was the first one to run to the tabloids when Ben was cast on K's season. It's all hearsay, it could be anyone. Nothing points me to Lauren or her friends.

I wouldn't automatically assume it was Lauren or her friends.

What I do take issue with is Ben's direct quote telling the media not to believe fake news. Meanwhile, at the time he was probably preparing for his podcast debut and just waiting for the go ahead split announcement because clearly they were done at that point.

what connection does Shaelin have to Lauren friends to hear she was talking about her relationship with Ben? How could it possibly go from Lauren's friends (or friends of friends) to Shaelin talking to US Weekly??

IMO, I don't think they were done done at that point. It was a low point for sure. A few weeks later Ben went to Honduras while Lauren was in LA to model that week Lauren commented on his pictures saying she missed him and snapped a picture saying she was excited to come home to him. Then when she went to Colombia she posted that super sappy caption saying she was excited to see him. Then a few days later it was his birthday and she seemed happy/excited about that too. Things seemed to be doing better IMO, and then somewhere in there things went downhill again.

Well Shaelin is following Lauren's ex for whatever reason on ig, so she seems to be wildly connected to all things around Ben. Why the heck does she follow Lauren's ex? I find that so creepy, tbh.

But her praising him on his ig is exactly what he needs, IMO, to be praised for everything he does, preferably publicly, with the added self praise he does too. I just wonder how long can anyone manage to coddle and OTT praise an adult man over every single thing he does, and then talk him down of his hissy fit, when he hast to compromise. Jmo

Wasn't she spotted at some bar that Ben was at? I can't recall the details, but I do remember seeing a s/cap or SM or something. IMO she's got issues, from what I've heard. I could see her latching on to him so she can be the popular one since he's a "celebrity", after she dumped his butt and had no use for him.

I won't be critical of Shaelin, so she did a couple of interviews in the past. Her account was/is private. And it doesn't appear she has ill feelings towards Ben if she's following him and writing positive comments on his pictures. As for the ex's following each other, idk I think it's a unique situation. Wasn't Lauren with that Sean guy for a couple years? Then they break up and a few months later she goes on TV, gets engaged and now is a public figure.
