IA with you. I also had the impression that Nick and Vanessa were probably not happy to share a big part of THEIR ATFR with a Rachel.

I agree that something was up with Nick and Vanessa during the ATFR, I almost got a Juan Pablo vibe going, like there was some animosity between Nick/Vanessa and the producers. This ATFR was so different from those in the past, IMO, it was almost like a screw you to the couple. Normally the bachelor is sitting out with CH and his F1 is introduced and makes a grand entrance, this time it was Nick that came out, Vanessa didn't get that spotlight. They didn't replay their proposal either. I also think they got short changed with the ending and not having their families come up on stage and congratulate them like they've done in the past. Was Nicks family even there? Could be another indication that thing might not be on par with the couple and the producers??

There was just such a contrast between the ATFR and every post show interview thats out there. Of course as always, JMO

JMO--Nick's family has indulged TPTB 3 times now. They probably figured enough is enough. The couple apparently has the support of his family from the GMA video.
Vanessa's family came out for Sunday family dinner? That was my take on their support. I didn't look for them in the audience so don't know if they were or were not at ATFR.

IMO I don't think she's a realist imho she is an idealist who's having to modify expectations consistently. Nick said something about how we're having to learn ourselves - I definitely think that Vanessa is not very self-aware and being in a relationship with Nick is making her starkly aware of her behavior. IMHO she's extremely high maintenance and it will be a LOT of hard work for Nick. Sounds like he's up for the challenge so all the luck to them.

I haven't chimed in on any of this, but if I did, @emusha , I couldn't have said it any better than you just did. ITA.

V is an idealist. But she is not an optimistic/glass is half full idealist. Instead, she is dissatisfied/glass is half empty idealist. She is going to have to modify her ideals somewhat in order to compromise for the good of this relationship. Same thing with Nick. He is going to need to modify his ideals somewhat, too. If they can do that, they have a chance. If not, well, they will go the route of 50% of the couples in society. JMHO.
