IMHO: Kaitlyn and Shawn can split their time between US and Canada because they don't seem to have "real jobs." Vanessa's profession means she needs to be in one place for the entire school year. As for Nick, really can't figure out what he's doing for a living these days outside of Bach and DWTS. They will have to put down roots somewhere.

In the last part of their date sitting on the couch, we never see both of their faces at the same time. I swear the look on Nick's face when she tells him she loves him has been switched the video and the sound don't go together when the shot is on him and she is talking. He doesn't react at all when she tells him she loves him - they must have rearranged that video.

^^^exactly. Which is why I think nick should be willing to give a bit more on this than Vanessa. If he were ben h with his own home and a job, or Jason with a son, etc etc, things would be very different, IMO.
I'm actually hoping RS ' negative opinion of nick might be an added incentive for nick to prove him wrong re nick's willingness to compromise on this issue...

I thought Nick did react, there were tears in his eyes. Not that there aren't half the time, but I thought he looked deeply moved, so much so that he couldn't say anything even if he wanted to. JMO.

I don't think just because one has a socially defined typical job that that alone should be reason for the other moving. Whomever earns the higher income (and has higher earning income potential, whomever wants to potentially be the breadwinner, if one wants children and possibly stay home, etc) and whatever is the long term strategy for the future (what makes sense for the couple in the long term, so years down the road) are what I could see as the deciding factors for Nick and Vanessa if they are thinking long term. There's a lot of unknowns still but whatever they decide as a couple together is what's best for them is what matters most, IMO.

What they are willing to compromise on. Are they too similar as personalities. None of their discussions were Bach fluff and show speak. They're out of the bubble, while in the bubble. Amazing!
One of the sm complaints about Vanessa has been 'What show did she think she signed up for?!' And IMO that's a positive when it's been meant as a negative. She's not going to settle for being no appreciated, even though she met Nick on this show. And that's great. She doesn't want to be a default choice, when nothing else is left, she wants to be the first and only choice. That's brilliant, IMO.

This makes me think now if rachel was just to get the lawsuit off their back.
I knew from the beginning that the producers probably told nick to keep rachel and jasmine on for a long time, it only made sense.

This! It is not about who will make the sacrifice, it is about deciding together how they see their immediate and long term future, near term and long term priorities, and then collaboratively working towards that.
Need to do something productive and stop hanging out in this forum (after Nick's season)

We know Vanessa's first degree is in public policy. We see from her IG that she collaborated with Pi2 to create a vid for the Galilleo musical (Pi2 also had IG story vids of them editing more vids) and that she is working on a charitable initiate as per her photoshoot with Julia. Those are examples of blending her 2 degrees to do advocacy work. Obviously she too has professional flexibly.
It's not a sacrifice IMO to build a life with the person you love. It's a transition from singlehood to romantic partnership. If you don't marry the girl/boy next door you have more variables that need to be discussed. Normal stuff.

ITA! IMO if Vanessa and Nick decide to move to New York for example, they can discuss and decide together how often they'll try to visit her family, when they'll visit his family etc. It's not about one having to sacrifice and compromise, but both working and deciding together how they'll find a happy balance they both enjoy and are comfortable with. IMO neither one has a 'my way or the high way' mentality, both are open to work together and find that happy balance. JMO.

@cmarci93 The lawsuit was settled or dropped a while ago. Despite that, I have no doubt that this was still something that continued being brought up. Also, the fact that one of the new bosses at ABC is an African American woman has been speculated to have had something to do with it.
