But legally, does Corrine have no shred of responsibility for her own behavior? If not, that is great news to all alcoholics out there (I have wondered if Corrine may have issues with drinking on Nick's season- just speculation on my part).

The insinuation in Amy's tweets appears to be that the producer sued on behalf of one or both of the contestants based on the incident, but that wouldn't be a viable lawsuit.  The contestant would have to sue on his/her/their own.

Yeah, I'd think the person would sue both the producer and the show. But I can also see the person just suing the producer if (a) it was someone they trusted and they feel like the producer betrayed their trust (we know how friendly and manipulative producers can be), or (b) they don't want to burn their bridges with the franchise.

I do think it's possible that there was some miscommunication and it's not even a third-party complaint. I still think it's odd that they would stop production altogether; I'd think that if it weren't that serious, they would just keep filming while the show's lawyers work something out. Is the show legally obligated stop production if a complaint is filed? Or are TPTB choosing to stop to save their asses? If so, it seems a bit drastic.

Well... if no one was hurt and everyone is ok... I'm just left being kind of annoyed. There goes my August/September trash tv fun.

Also I feel badly for Carly and Evan. That sucks.

I think Corinne sued/threatened to sue coz she didn't want it aired. They were shown the tapes and IMO for probably protecting herself, the producer filed a third-party complaint. That's the only thing which is making sense to me right now if that poster/tweet is to be believed.

But that still doesn't get a "third party complaint." Because Corinne would be suing production. A producer can't sue on behalf of Corinne or DeMario or anyone else in the cast. Either the lawsuit is wrongly styled (in which case it will be tossed) or (most likely) it's a "hostile work environment" lawsuit based on allegations that production was making the producer enable a situation that may or may not have constituted sexual assault in some way (because both parties were wasted and potentially not able to consent). That would be why WB would have to shut everything down to conduct an investigation. And that's EVEN if both of the parties believed that everything was consensual. Because it would be more about what production did/didn't do in response to the situation as opposed to the two drunk parties.

Here goes the aspirations for all future cast memebers potentially.

If BIP is cancelled permanently, all they have to look forward to is the main show without holding out for the spinoff. So sad.

I wish I could say I am surprised by all this but sadly I am not. This show has always been wack IMO but it's turned into something else in the past few years with amped up drama/SM opportunity like never before. I won't be surprised if it all starts imploding and this is the tip of the ice-berg.

I don't see Carly&Evan cancelling their wedding.  Time will tell if it is televised.  It could air in connection to Rachel's season, as a Sunday (any day) Special - 1 hr., air on the other channel that does HEA, or not air at all.

I predict major damage control though. This is a blight on the franchise.

They still have Winter Games! Unless the whole franchise goes belly up.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the show is suspended not canceled.

"We have suspended production and we are conducting a thorough investigation of these allegations. Once the investigation is complete, we will take appropriate responsive action.”

What a mess! They obviously have it all on tape, whatever happened, but what a freekin mess. I'm not even going to speculate, because we know so little. Just what a mess.

People who behave in a manner that they are above the law, and say and do whatever they want, usually end up in a situation where they have no control and panic. If the story is the way it's been told, I can see Corrine doing whatever it takes to make her look like she is innocent in whatever antics she was involved in. The ones that need to take responsibility are the ones that drank the alcohol or whatever they consumed that was available and behaved irrational IMHO. Because at the end of the day they didn't have to drink to a state where they didn't know what they were doing then cry wolf.

My prediction:  they put in an alcohol policy for "Winter Games" and all of the franchise shows from now on.  No more open bar, no more unlimited drinking.  BIP already had issues with Chad last year and Chris B. the year before with the drinking.  They've had a lot of issues on the main show with drinking (including the fact that Meredith, Mary, and Charlie O'Connell all had alcohol problems).  

They can still get plenty of drama with no drinking.  JPG's season was full of drama and there was no drinking since he didn't want it.

ETA: GA, my guess is that the allegations have more to do with production than Corinne/DeMario. Whatever they did was secondary to what production did or didn't do. They got drunk and hooked up, which is what the show likes. The problem is that a producer likely felt that production was doing something wrong during the situation (either not stopping it, or something else along those lines).
