Rachel Lindsay - Bachelor 21 - *Sleuthing Spoilers* - #2

Rachel seems like a very "my way or the highway" person to me and the girls stepped in line with their leader because they themselves said on WTA (their own words) they want her "leftovers".

IMO, Rachel does come across as leader of the mean girl squad and to me is very "scratch my back and I will scratch yours"... "get on my good side and you can have my leftovers"... "get on my bad side and you're not worthy of my leftovers"

IMO, I'll wait and reserve judgement until Rachel's season starts to give my "thoughts" on what she will/might/could/meant in a scenario that hasn't happened as yet. Logging out until then

She mentioned somewhere in an article/interview that was discussed here that she thought she was going to "win". Nobody else was preventing that but Vanessa, and shockingly...not...that is the person she is still having issues with. Her own words...don't like her. If it's all about competition, Raven made it to F2 ahead of her & yet Raven was and still is one of her closest friends. There wasn't an article about her saying she thought she was going to win, Christen said it on after buzz and that could have been paraphrasing, or using it the same way a lot of people call the show a competition for sometimes lack of a better word. In her glamour interview [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] there were actually two sections that stood out to me that it wasn't just a 'competition' for her IMO.

Glamour: Will we see your dad on The Bachelorette? We are dying to meet Mr. Lindsay.

Rachel: [Laughs] Did you know Nick met my dad? He met my dad off camera.

Glamour: Really?!

Rachel: Yeah, which is what I loved because it was a real-life experience. It wasn’t, "Hey, we’re doing this for TV," it was, "Hey, I really want to talk to you about a future with your daughter." So, yeah, Nick met my dad off-camera.

Glamour: Looking back, are you glad Nick wasn’t end game for you?

Sorry, but no way do I think that Rachel thought Raven was in any way competition for her...particularly after watching the show. Christen? said on some interview that she told Vanessa that if she stays, Nick will pick her. I believe that was really early on. If one of the MOT women saw that, that early, so did Rachel. So, yes, despite Raven being F2, Rachel could still afford to be magnanimous and continue to be friends...and one of the reasons the posse keeps harping on Raven having the best relationship with Nick when all it is is a very shallow relationship.

Personally, I don't think it's team this or team that for me. Nor should it be a competition. IMO. TB or 'Ette being the "prize" or "golden ring" was never my thought unless that person is the one for you/me. That person is not going to be the one for 25+ people. I don't think life works that way or the show.
Rachel happens to be a WOC. IMO --so what? She still has to play the same politically correct game all the other leads have had to play. Will she be judged for every little kindness or faux pas. Yes. That is unfortunately how the magnifying glass works once you sign your pound of flesh away.
There are lots of alphas in this world. You still have to learn how to navigate nicely in the long run. It's easy to navigate with the betas that's not really challenging. IMO

Ok then genuine question, why is she friends with Danielle, Taylor, and Christen? All girls who are friends with Vanessa, I can't definitively remember anything Taylor's said about V but both have had such great things to say about Vanessa. I would think if you're correct about her, that she would see that as going against her. I'm not trying to get you to justify your opinion or anything, I'm just curious how you perceive that.

Everyone has the right to wait until the season airs to comment on Rachel, and there are those commenting on what they have seen so far. There's nothing wrong with have a healthy discussion both ways, positive or negative.

What my opinion is today, may change later on. I like to speculate and discuss what we've seen or read so far about the next lead.

I dislike a few people in this world and if someone asks me point blank I might choose to reveal my perspective.

Regarding the holier than thou point. She said "his loss" and "yes they are" about the men being lucky to have her. I don't see why this is being seen as 'Rachel believing she is better than other women/people' vs. 'Rachel being aware of her worth as a woman and wanting to have the respect and value that she deserves' - including a man who chooses her. "His loss" is a comment my girlfriends and I would say all the time when a guy decides to not put the effort in that we feel we deserve including breaking up with one of us I see that comment as a very "girl talk" thing to say and a way Rachel was trying to relate to other women who've been rejected... Overall, both those comments imo are Rachel's dry humor...I don't see her takeing herself very seriously and these comments are said in a sassy but humorous way rather than in a serious mode. In addition, both these comments are said in the presence of or with reference to a man who rejected her and therefore broke her heart which might make her question her own worth. I actually really appreciated how she was affirming her value despite the rejection both of these times. Context matters and I do think Rachel would not and has not said these comments outside of the context of Nick rejecting her.

Regarding her struggles as a career woman looking for love - I 100% empathize with her -- while it might seem like humble-bragging it's actually a very sad truth particularly in specific cultures where men have more dominant roles where an empowered career woman is a threat and the guys would find her intimidating and therefore not desirable. She outlined this issue in her interview and concluded she hopes that will allow people to relate to her.

Regarding the "leader of the pack" bit - I see no tangible proof that she is making other women gang up and ostracize other people or even band together and act in a joint way. People choose to act how they would and I see no proof of Rachel having any kind of influence over how other women in the house behave/d.

I haven't seen anyone say Rachel is the worst person ever, far from it. She clearly has her flaws though IMO, despite the OTT praise from most people. And just because someone says they don't like drama, it doesn't mean they aren't involved in any. In my experience, it's usually the ones who have to say it who end up in the middle of it time and time again. Not saying Rachel is a drama queen or anything, just pointing out that what people say isn't always what they do in reality. If Rachel still hasn't let go of something that happened months ago, then that tells me something whether I like it or not. I still wish her the best though and hope she'll make a great Bachelorette, since I like watching leads I can root for. I just won't be totally surprised if she ends up more like Andi than say JoJo. Hopefully not! JMO.

Because to me it's not and never has been about Vanessa.
It's about Rachel and her behavior.

I think they are all using each other, with her being the leader --  thus the definition of mean girl squad IMO.

Rachel's dislike towards Vanessa was never about Nick IMO, It seems like they were cool until Vanessa allegedly started badmouthing the other girls behind their backs which led Rachel to distance herself. I honestly see nothing wrong with saying look I am uncomfortable being friends with you because of your behaviour. JMO

I remember her telling Sarah that "she hate girl chats" and that Sarah stay out of the Corrine/Taylor drama that was happening in Wisconsin

Idc about who teams either. I don't like Becca and when I thought she was unfairly criticized, I said so. I don't dislike lauren but I'm not a fan either and when I feel she's unfairly criticized I say so too. I thought the criticism of her IG live was fair, I wasn't bothered by it but I didn't think she should have done it. But her glamour interview I think the criticism was unfounded, same with that ellen comment. There's been comments about her personality that I disagree with and like i'm allowed to do here, I stated my opinion.
