I wonder what Vanessa thinks of the big announcement happening so early, even before she gets to bask in f1 glow. There's going to be a lot of buzz about the next season. Probably a good thing though for the future of their relationship.

If I were Vanessa I would be happy for Rachel. Afterall her "prize" isn't all the media attention, it's a relationship with Nick. I think Nick and Vanessa will welcome a shift of attention away from their season. It gives them a chance to have a real life.

I've followed and liked Nick since 1.0 and that guy loooves attention. He is going to take and hide it well, but I do not think he will openly welcome a shift in attention. His whole "I don't care" mien is a facade, I personally think that it's a defense mechanism he has developed over time.

Yeah, Nick loves attention like most of us love oxygen, IMO. It reminds me of the bustle interview where the interviewer said he would constantly check how many likes he got on instagram and would evaluate why and how to get the most. That's partly why I'm wondering if his Ellen announcement is to somehow hype up the finale/ATFR. Not quite sure how Vanessa will react, but IMO, they all like the initial adoration and attention.

Nick will be fine without all the attention IMO. He is happy that Rachel is getting to be the lead...which his decisions are directly responsible for. That is what he will silently pat himself on the back for.

She will not like it too, imo, and that will be human. They have all the time in the world to build a relationship when the show is over, but when it's on, you want to be center stage...and alone. She already likes tweets that complain about her time with Nick not being shown, that's an indication of what she wants right there!

I actually think he will be fine with it, too. It lets him off the hook for the whole--look how he devastated her. Rachel can't be too devastated and euphoric simultaneously.

I personally think it's a very good thing for Vanessa at the moment. IMO The trolls who are running amok on her SM will get busy fighting if their fav got to be the 'Ette or not. IMO TPTB will hype their 'historic' 'Ette narrative for a month and then Rachel will be off filming. IMO Nissa can then do their press and I personally will fangirl over them.

I don't know that this announcement will actually distract from Nick's and Vanessa's limelight. If it is announced now, it won't require the same amount of time on the AFTR. Nessa will still have all the media rounds post show since Rachel will be filming. If Nick does DWTS, there is more attention. Or they could just choose to focus on their relationship, in which case they won't care either way.
