Ben needs to NOT propose again. It would just be silly, meaningless, and like he's making promises he can't keep by doing it over and over (though, I thought it was silly the second time he did it too.) IMO.

Just curious... do you really think Ben does this renaissance thing outside the show? IMO, when I saw that clip from the show I saw it as a set up for a storyline on the show.
I still say that this whole HEA thing is a storyline that Ben and Lauren are playing out under the guise of a "reality show" but it is not their actual reality. I just see so many things on the show that I can't fathom them actually doing on a day-to-day real life basis. If this was their reality, why hasn't he been shown working? Why aren't their long time friends and family more involved? Instead it is a show that is showing off other Bach alum and supposedly setting up the journey to the wedding. Even Fleiss has admitted that he is out to produce a good television show with no reality in it.
Neither Ben nor Lauren are perfect and they probably do have issues but I just don't think they are as bad as the show is making them out to be. I still say there will be that televised and paid for wedding in the next few months....
Again, all IMHO.

Trista and Ryan had a 3 episode "special" showing all the prep leading up to the wedding with the wedding being the last episode. It even included manufactured drama. I just watched them a couple weeks ago from the ABC website. Fleiss pulled the same things in their 3 shows that he is doing to Ben and Lauren now. He's just got more time to insert the drama since it is a 9 episode show.

I thought the most real part of the show was when they were talking about Ben's fears at the session (other than having it with the other 4). I get that Ben is having cold feet but not the stated reason. I would think they'd know a lot about each other by this time in their relationship.
I have to say I'm more on Lauren's side in this. Ben should have opened up about his fears long before he got to this point but maybe this was played up for the show. I do think a lot of this was producer driven. The drive to get to know one another better was in good part an advertisement for Fiat. I doubt the wedding was actually called off. It was probably never going to be that soon but this makes for more televised angst.

Don't forget that during the Vegas Bach trips, a producer was recorded going over the script of Ben 'surprising' Lauren in Vegas. Most of this is staged.
Not saying tie couple is perfect.... I know they have things to work out but IMO that makes them more relatable. Everybody gets annoyed with their partner. Ben said it was hard at times being around Lauren 24/7 for filming because he doesn't even like being around himself that much. Real relationships take work, and I appreciate their honesty that it hasn't always been easy but theyre determined to make it work because they love each other.

FMG2015 wrote:I still am reminded of the difference between what is said on the show and what Is said in interviews. There's very little reality in reality tv. The only real part of this episode I feel is the emotions during that session. I call BS on the scene where he actually called it off in a tux and wedding dress. Manufactured drama with the road trip, & visit to Chris. Unless they went back to the mansion twice, Ben took over Lauren's snapchat that day and they were being playful and affectionate in the mansion. Lauren pretended to steal a clock. In the fan thread we all just assumed they were there for Ben to give nick advice before moving in. They are shown to go to this random couple counseling yet they actually enrolled in couple counseling at their church so they can work on communicating better. On the show Ben acted as if he had never thought about who he would want as groomsmen but then in an interview with the knot he said he's had the list of names in his phone for a long time so he doesn't forget who's always been there for him.
IMO, there seems to be a disconnect and I think the producers are behind this... Steering and manipulating the 'storyline' the way the want. BenLo are their puppets. Of course they have to obey what they say. They realize they need to play nice to get their paycheck. I do think because of this Lauren and Ben have had to work through issues they didn't realize would occur because of the tv life/real life differences. I do believe it has been a learning experience for them as a couple and they seem dedicated to make it work. I see the love they have for each other in the way they look at each other.
Thanks for all this. I remember bits and pieces just from reading threads but wasn't sure of the time frame. This explains it in detail.

Yeah, but that's essentially what this show is, only 8 episodes. So when the wedding time comes, it'll most likely be a 2 hour special, like the franchise weddings in recent years. IMO.havadrpepper wrote:Lennoxcolinrolland wrote:^ 2 epsiodes? Haven't the wedding specials been only 2 hours?

I agree. People wanted something to talk about - grocery shopping and toilet bowl replacing isn't drama. Now we have it!
Obvi it isn't ideal to fake it but they do have a show to produce I guess. Much like MBC, Wife Swap, Couples Therapy, etc they exaggerate some of the storylines and the couple plays along and fakes it a bit. Comes with the paycheque.

Even that conversation with Chris Harrison about "calling it off." They didn't really say definitively calling off the wedding or not happening any more.
This is all part of the production. The drama comes with the paycheck. I remember Trista said that the televised wedding they signed up to helped in giving them a financial foundation. I think Ben and Lauren got that advise from Trista and Ryan because they spent time with them earlier in their relationship. I'd say it's a smart thing that they have done.

That is why I found so dumb . Why would Ben will say that their wedding is off for the sake of drama as you said above . Really stupid to me . I know they are making a reality show and creating drama is equal to good ratings . But come on . You don't have to do that as a man . That is not right especially the woman you are marrying . Jmo.
"challenges are what makes life interesting, overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.real love is when you are completely committed to someone even when they are being completely unlovable.a strong marriage requires two people who chose to love each other even on those days when they struggle to like each other.a great marriage doesn't happen when the perfect couple gets together. It happens when an imperfect couple gets together and learn to enjoy each other's differences."

If that is the storyline and the eventual script is going to end on a happy note, that is what you do. Plain and simple, IMO.
When you sign contracts for money certain things might be stipulated. Sometimes it could be doing something or saying something or showing something in an unfavorable light. This is often what "reality" tv does.
