Gosh I didn't realize we could post ugly comments on here. New to me plus it's been a year and people are just now making comment's on her voice. I'm glad you didn't hear me talk because I have a real southern accent. It's sometimes kinda hard to follow if you're not from the South. I focus a lot on her beauty and how kind she seems to be. Positivity instead of negativity. Jmo

^ This is the general discussion thread, so any discussion is allowed. As long as it pertains to what the thread is about. I've been talking about her voice for monthsssss. I remember when the first episode of the bachelor aired, I thought she had a really pretty raspy voice in her package, but then every other time she spoke, it was the valley girl voice. I think she may have been sick in the package or something, cause not once have I heard her sound like that again.

I dont have any issues with her voice, but if she does sound different maybe she's encouraged to talk slower on camera? Or she does it without even realizing. In interviews outside of the shows, she's IMO very poised, talks at a normal speed and is articulate in answering interview questions off the fly. This is just one example the day before their show premiered

Lauren continues to impress me that she's a positive woman who focuses on inner beauty and who people really are. Yes, the negativity reveals her insecurities at times but IMO she's human with a huge heart to get to know people before making unfair judgements, especially about shallow aspects as one's voice. Case in point, the relationship between josh and Amanda she won't make judgements until she gets to know him.

This is a general discussion thread so all comments are welcome - good, bad, happy, sad, etc.  If you don't like reading negative and/or comments that are not 100% loving and positive, there is a fan thread for Ben and Lauren.  Visit and/or stay there.

The same applies to anyone else or any couple from the franchise, there are both general discussion threads and fan threads for a reason.

We don't have to all agree, we can agree to disagree and we certainly don't all have to like the same people and/or couples.  We just have to respect our fellow posters.

Now back to Ben and Lauren and their show...

This technically all counts as vocal fry/valley girl voice.

I know what you mean.  She makes it very difficult to get through watching an episode because she's so annoying. I wonder if she'll talk like that when she says her vows.
She's always talked like that (at least in the year that I've been watching her on tv), so 99% sure she'll talk like that in her vows IMO.

I wonder if it will be the same as her little speech right before she went into the fantasy suite with Ben:

"Bennnn, you are like the man of like my dreamsssss."

laugh out loud at least she seems to be a sweet girl.

You're funny Ash!  If they do get married, I wonder how long Ben can put up with that voice.  I know one hour of watching that show is more than enough for me .  Ben and Lauren Happily Ever After - Discussion - *Sleuthing - Spoilers* - Page 67 2498057887 Ben and Lauren Happily Ever After - Discussion - *Sleuthing - Spoilers* - Page 67 2498057887

They've been living together for months now, I'm making a wild guess, that her voice doesn't bother him at all.

Why does she do that on TV? I agree it's more normal in interviews and stuff.

I cringe a little when she says 'oh my gosh!' laugh out loud

Ah well these are small things in the grand scheme IMO. He'll survive given she has maybe a bit more to 'tolerate.'

Yeah, Lauren has wonderful qualities..but she still has a valley girl voice. It doesn't have to be one or the other, or this or that. It just is. All IMO.

@Cocoasneeze Yeah I might even walk out on to a crazier limb and say he either doesn't mind or actually likes it. There is a shoe for every foot they say. Also, he had 28 options and still chose her and her voice. So...

I don't know it has a term to call the way Lauren speaks, vocal fry, I just googled and saw some clips in youtube, yeah, that's exactly how Lauren speaks!

It annoyed me back then, still annoys me now. I would call that pretentious, she always comes across very fake. I know many say she is very sweet and good and all those good qualities, but I tried to look for those in her but all I see is fake. No matter how sweet she pretends to be, her constant frowning, vocal fry and skin depth talking are very revealing.

Absolutely peggy0221.  I love watching The Bachelor and The Bachelorette.  I noticed the vocal fry taking over when Ben was The Bachelor.  When I saw that Ben and Lauren were having their own tv show of course I had to set my DVR to  record it every week.  I just found that the vocal fry was consuming the way Lauren speaks.  Just listening to her talk became so annoying.  I really hope that when the new Bachelor season starts on January 2nd, there will be young women talking normal and no vocal fry!
