I hope members reading this quote from the article will remember this:
This has been done in the past. This is not the first time and probably will not be the last. Each time casting is talked about for the lead this same old stuff is refuted. Now it's out there by a cast person in a magazine. Here it is. It happens. It's not the first time. Probably won't be the last.
Confirmed by Arie who finally dished out his :

:shocked!: to know that he did sign his contract already
I had no idea Arie was THAT close: "I mean, [my situation was] almost word for word on that article, same exact deal. I just knew two days prior, but same deal: suit fittings; contracts that I signed, but they were delayed on signings on their end; booked flights. Maybe this is a common practice now to throw off fans — I don’t know."

sosleepy wrote:Am I the only one that felt bad for him on ATFR with Andi? Yeah, he sold her out, but with how she was treating him, ice cold, mean, shut off... She painted him into a corner. I never cared about that, almost kind of cheered him on. Never saw him as a villian for that.
I had the same take. The question is best viewed in in the context of how Andi was treating him.
I didn't think Kaitlyn treated him much better. Once Kaitlyn picked Shawn she seemed almost contemptuous of Nick. She seemed to have a smug quality about her rejection of him. I feel like saying to these women, look, YOU took Nick to F2 so you must have seen something in him. No reason to do a 180. I think if you send someone home at F2 (F3,F4) you owe it to them to be sensitive of their feelings and that there was *something* there between the two of you.

But, he has to keep the older women. Farmer had beautiful early and mid 30s women and all were gone by week three. I can see give up real life to post half naked species Nick doing the same thing. JMO.Duke702 wrote:I hope the girls are not all 10+ years younger than him ... I hope they have a lot of 30+ girls don't really want to see him with a bunch of 25 year olds.
Seabear wrote:I am an anomaly because I was ardently all about Nick on Andi's and Kaitlyn's season's and totally on team Nick until late last year. I am a skeptic now. I believe Nick wants to find his idealized woman....but I don't see him as being in a place in his life where he is really open or ready for that. I see Nick as a bit lost these days. That's my read. I am concerned about how natural can Nick be on his Bachelor gig because he knows all the behind the scenes manipulations? Nick is smart so he won't be easily played but I do think he will be a willing Puppet. I hope Nick gets what he wants from the gig. From my POV....I want a funny, entertaining season that is full of laughs and not OTT trashy. I know this season will be very scripted....but please please bring the laughs.
I enjoy the Viall family so seeing them again will be nice. I find it amusingly ironic that I was all Nick Nick Nick when he was the outcast and would have done cartwheels for him to be the Bachelor last year...but now that it a truism....I am Meh.
JMO
Seaboard, you and I totally agree here. I love Nick's family, but the man with Peter Pan syndrome living via SM in LA, not impressed or interested. JMO.
bluwavz wrote:I loved JPG's season so if Nick's season is anything like it then yay.
I loved JPG, but I think Nick was picked because of just how far he is willing to go to play MF's game. He is no JPG. JMO.
ReneeM wrote:sosleepy wrote:I think more than anything, for it to be real, he needs a STRONG grounded career woman with a good head on her shoulders. Think Whitney, or even Nikki. Someone with stability and without the fame bug. Nick is floating for the last few years in Bachelor make believe land in LA. He's basically fancy free. He could move anywhere, and hopefully to a strong grounded woman's home base. Someone who can screw his head back on straight and get him firmly back into real world. He's an interesting case. After 4 goes at this, he needs to be extricated out of the system, and now that he's The Bachelor, he made it as far as he could posibily go with this $hitshow. Get yo woman, shill yo products, and go back to the real world, Nick.
In a perfect world I would agree. But I don't think Nick ever wants to go back to life before the show. I don't think he wants a 9-5, I think he likes 'modelling' and being somewhat of a celeb and if he picks someone, like you're describing, I'm sure as an individual they'd be nice enough it DEFINITELY won't work out IMO. From what I see, no he doesn't want a full blown terrible individual, but he wants one with some warts, who's guarded and he's one of the select few that get to see who they 'really' are. Another example IMO is someone like Jubilee. I don't think they were attracted to each other but personality wise she's close to the mould of the type of woman he's looking for, with maybe a bit less baggage IMO.
Renee you nailed it. Nick met Whitney and didn't want a woman like her, he wants his framework equivalent. IMO, Nick has no desire to leave LA or go back to a normal, non-famewhore life or job.

IMO Juan Pablo was one of the WORST, if not the worst Bachelor. I don't think its best to always go with what the majority of fans want. If I remember correctly, JPG was the wanted man for TB, and look how that turned out. Awful. Same with Farmer Chris. He was terrible too. I don't get all the fuss about Luke, but to each their own. I'm a fan of Nick and if this does not work out for him this time, I doubt anyone will see him on TV again.

But then when he showed up on Kaitlyn's season I couldn't stand him, and thought it was SOO annoying how he took over the whole season and their were so many episodes dedicated to him and Shawn fighting. And the sleeping with Kaitlyn when so many guys were left was icky/disrespectful imo. It was boring and I got sick of it. I just think he's a fame whore though now. Usually the people who have done this many shows get made fun of. Like what are they going to promote his career as? Professional Bachelor contestant? I saw them saying "software salesman" but he hasn't been doing that in La so they better not say that.
He can't be held responsible for the production side of things and the editing of the show. He's not at fault that the show concentrated on him a lot. I'm wondering to who was it disrespectful that he slept with Kaitlyn? Was he supposed to woo over the other guys or Kaitlyn? He openly admitted to talking with Kaitlyn before her season, he liked her a lot and thought the feelings were mutual. Jmo.

It was Kaitlyn's call to sleep with him, she was the bachelorette who was still dating multiple men at that point. I agree it was disrespectful- but of Kaitlyn to do that in 'her' position on the show, Nick was a suitor who was in love with her and of course wanted to be with her. He was serious about her, it's not like he manipulated her into it, she chose it.
Also this laboured point people keep bringing up about him now being a fame whore, not going back to his job.... yadayada. 1) Who honestly in his position, or Ben's or JoJos, who wouldn't want to leave the day job and make money from being 'yourself' or modelling, or being on TV 2) He was asked to be a model, they scouted him and you know what- he's great at it; you don't just try being a model by taking selfies, he is awesome in photos and attitude 3) If he went back to the day job he would wonder what if I had taken those opportunites when I had them.

^^^
A lot of people grow up in one place, go to college locally, then get a job nearby. Maybe they go on a few winter vacations. That was Nick.
He hadn't experienced much of the world or ventured outside the family cocoon as Chicgo isn't far from the home nest.
Moving anywhere, in this case LA, and creating a new & diverse circle of friends is IMO an adventure that can broaden and enrich.
Nothing wrong with never moving far from home or keeping on the same career path until retirement but IMO there is equally nothing wrong with choosing a path such as Nick has.
Regardless, he and anyone else on this show will entertain us during the season after which their obligation to viewers is done. It's always been that way. Even during the show the lead doesn't listen... he/she picks who they want and disappoints everyone who doesn't agree C'est la vie.

I don't care what Nick does or doesn't do with his life, since I'm not planning on marrying him. I just hope he finds someone who's supportive of whatever it is he wants to do and vice versa. That's the most important thing, being on the same page. I don't think whoever he picks needs to change him, but if they inspire him to change for the better then great.

Exactly, I agree ukGK and NR.
Also ... I'm thinking, so all JMO, Nick's large family isn't living a "high social/income" style ... working dad, stay-at-home mum with 11 kids to raise, that's a lot of mouth to feed ... each kid had to take on responsibility and find their bread on their own, since the family couldn't give them the luxury to explore life, travel without contributing, so it is either you get a job fast and you become independent or you work hard in school, get your scholarship for the college and move out ... and sooner rather than later find yourself a job to return the loan for the schooling.
So I assume Nick did everything in his power to not be the burden in the household income ... and now if he wants to do something he likes to do, if he tries to experience things that he has finally an opportunity to ... why not? ... he is single, without kids, he doesn't live off his family money, he doesn't do anything illegal ... and despite the age of 36 ... he is free to have fun as long as he wants. Hey, Clooney got married after 50 ... who am I to judge.

I dont care what Nick does or does not do with his life either. I just wish he and his smug weasel face would get the hell off my TV screen. And before anyone says it: I've watched TB since S1E1 so I was here first.
