Re: NO SPOILERS - ROBBY - Bachelorette 12 - *Sleuthing - NO Spoilers*
I just need to say something: There was so much splicing during Robby's SD dinner portion. They showed Robby talking, then just a facial reaction of Jojo or a facial reaction of Jojo with the side of Robby's face visible and you could tell that the VO didn't match the movement of his jaw!

I feel your pain Shirl! They didn't show hardly any of his cliff jumping date either, or that kiss we saw in the preview. At least they showed a lot of my guys dinner date, but left out most of the good stuff on their hot tub date! Let's fire those editors and take their place!

To borrow @rhondam's recurring question, "Why do you think that they are doing that?" regarding Robby's date.

Re: NO SPOILERS - ROBBY - Bachelorette 12 - *Sleuthing - NO Spoilers*
I think she is a very caring and kind person. You see how she allows the MOT guys to have their moments in the sun - giving GD roses to Wells, JT,Evan, Derek - at their more vulnerable moments. I think that is why she will ask for an extra rose this week - to let JT stay an additional week just because he's a great guy who has an inferiority complex. I think the drying in the blue dress is when she eventually lets JT go. She is a softy with a sensitive heart. That's why I think they edited Robby's date so oddly - they were trying to hide her true emotions from us. Just listen to her words when they embrace during the fireworks. She is falling for Robby. Maybe not as fast or hard as she has fallen for Jordan, but she will see the light before her final rose is handed out. At least that is my hope for her.

Re: NO SPOILERS - ROBBY - Bachelorette 12 - *Sleuthing - NO Spoilers*
^Mia, that's actually a great idea. It's the reason that I capped those Luke filler PIs of Jo in that undesignated location with the fireplace background. Really, the only things that count are the words that we actually see coming out of her mouth. This, though, threw me for a loop with Ben last season b:c in the end, he was shown saying things about JoJo that in other seasons would have meant that she was his F1, esp. since the face ITMs were followed by VOs for Lauren.
In the past, whenever they splice and dice a date, it's because they are trying to piece together a scene that fits the story that they want to tell. What did we learn from their dinner conversation? Did it give us more insight into one or both of the characters? Or did it show us the deepening of the relationship? At the moment, Robby has no conflict to overcome. That's good: Late developing conflicts usually imply longevity. That's also the reason that I'm a little concerned about Chase.
Before the pickup in his storyline, I thought that Robby was out at F3 based on caps. Now I wonder.

In the past, whenever they splice and dice a date, it's because they are trying to piece together a scene that fits the story that they want to tell. What did we learn from their dinner conversation? I learned that due to the sudden death of his friend, Robby decided to take life by the horns. He is a tiny bit nervous but willing too take a leap of faith to go after love. Described during the cliff jump by Jojo as spontaneous and a crazy one. I think he showed up with a (preconceived) notion of who Jojo is and that he saw himself compatible with her, or at least attracted enough in her to come on the show to find out. He saw very quickly that he had (bubble) feelings for her (love) and he is willing to 'go for the gold' (her heart). He said if he hid anything from her, he'd feeling like he was lying--- if sincere, how could a guy like try to deceive her later on when the rumor comes to light? Did it give us more insight into one or both of the characters? I think it showed us more about Robby's character than it did Jojo's, but you did see how much she enjoys him and her words were all very complimentary, no doubts.Or did it show us the deepening of the relationship? IMO Yes! At the moment, Robby has no conflict to overcome. That's good: Late developing conflicts usually imply longevity. Especially when the conflict is blown out of proportion to begin with. That's also the reason that I'm a little concerned about Chase.

Re: NO SPOILERS - ROBBY - Bachelorette 12 - *Sleuthing - NO Spoilers*
I feel like I have a very different interpretation of Robby than many of you. I am aware that there will be an obstacle thrown on the path for him when a rumor is addressed about his having broken off his relationship just prior to the show. I guess I already heard him explain to Jojo that last April after the death of his friend he reassessed his life. He stated that within a 6 month period he quit his job, moved to a different city, and ended a 3.5 year relationship that he was always questioning. He seemed forthcoming with this information and sincere to me. We also heard Jojo tell him at the start of the dinner that he had a quality, an emotional intelligence, that made her trust him. I see the same quality in him. I see him as in tune with his own feelings and also the feelings of others.
He self-described himself as emotional, and I believe that to be true. I think that in order to pursue something as lofty as the Olympics you have to be a passionate person at heart. You could have the athletic skill, but without the passion for the sport, the drive to put it in so much time and work to train, you'd never be able to make that commitment and achieve that level of competition. I think that in order to pursue such a goal, you need to have the soul of a dreamer. You must believe in an ideal and want to be a part of something that is bigger than yourself, if only for a moment in time.
There are lots of practical and logical goals that a 20-something year old could set his sights on - to become an accountant, a pharmacist, a teacher. There are many people who have chosen to go directly into one of those steady, admirable, practical careers (present company included), and there is nothing wrong with that - unless that is not where your heart lies. I am unspoiled, and I haven't read or watched media about Jojo or the men. I don't even know if she's done the media rounds to say "I'm happy with the outcome", "I found love", etc. I have, however, been told by another (spoiled) member simply that Robby is quite accomplished for his age of 27 and is pursuing graduate school for something that I do interpret as a practical and logical career. So, my point is that while Robby has passions and dreams, he's not drifting through life like a plastic bag in the wind. He has work ethic and goals. He has a wonderful balance of qualities to offer some lucky lady.
As for Robby's comments in this past episode and in the previews where he says he considers himself to be a front runner, I don't see that as arrogance. I see that as his knowing the depth of his own feelings for Jojo and also interpreting Jojo's reciprocation of feelings (in this highly unusual reality tv setting) as being equally as strong. Based on how Jojo has been acting with all of the final 4 guys, I'm sure that Luke, Jordan, and Robby all see themselves as the leader of the pack. Chase seems to be the one who is most cautious and unsure of exactly where he stands with Jojo. I don't see Robby gloating in front of the other men. I don't see Robby putting down any of the other men. In fact, he was very articulate and sensitive in the way he said to Chase and JT in the preview for next week: "I have no idea of what you are feeling. I am confident because I know how I am feeling." He didn't beat his chest. He didn't insult the others.
Robby is a guy who is very in touch with his feelings. He knew coming onto the show that Jojo seemed like she would be a good match for him. Throughout the weeks (even though they have not shown us much) their interactions have only solidified that more. He has received some very good feedback from Jojo and his affections have been reciprocated. Therefore, he is confident in his connection with her. Confidence and arrogance are not the same thing. I do not interpret Robby's demeanor as cocky or over-confident.
In competitive sports, there is a lot of psychology involved. One must not panic or have doubts about their own abilities. Positive imagery is when the athlete envisions their event (stroke by stroke, turn by turn, step by step) on their rode to the finish line. I don't think Robby is there simply to win for winning sake. I think he is there to win Jojo's heart because he actually sees himself as able to make a great life with her. He's falling in love with her. I hope it doesn't end badly for him.

Re: NO SPOILERS - ROBBY - Bachelorette 12 - *Sleuthing - NO Spoilers*
I actually like Robby. I don't know what he's like outside on the spoiler side, but he's funny and seems like a great guy. It would of been nice to see more of their time together, instead of some of the other guys that shouldn't have SO much screen time! The edit for me, is saying he doesn't make F1..but of course I think Luke is F1 (against all odds) and nobody believes me either.

It's ok, Laverne, I'll always support you. In fact, I have to admit that I see a glimmer of hope for Luke ending up as F1. I'm not sure how this all is going to play out. Not sure if there is a happy ending or not.

^I agree with this. @MiaHawk and @Lost17, I congratulate both of you for making such convincing arguments for Robby and Luke, respectively. I also commend @kimberlyg and @rhondam for their perspectives on Jordan. About a week or two ago, I had put Robby and Jordan in the designated "bad boy" box and largely written them off. With the rounding out of sides in our forum, I actually have come to like for different reasons all of the F4. Each of the guys possesses admirable qualities and traits. That doesn't mean that I think that they are the best fit for Jo, but I can see their goodness. So thank you all for that. Being able to wear rose-colored glasses with all of the guys by not knowing the "dirt" on them that comes with being spoiled is very refreshing to me.
Robby's story is building, so we'll see where we land with RoJo in two weeks. Mia, I think that you're about to be filled to the brim with Spumoni.
