Ben Higgins - Lauren Bushnell - Bachelor 20 - Discussion

I'm not necessarily a fan of any of the couples though I do prefer some more than others. I like this couple and I was satisfied with what we were shown of them. They remind me of what Bremily could've been had they not had all the emotional issues and baggage and if Emily had been remotely into Brad. I'm a complete sucker for the relationships where the male lead is pursuing his F1 and is in awe of her. I can't help it. For me whether or not I like a couple has a lot to with what I prefer in a relationship. I know I don't care for the relationship dynamics of K/S, J/M or T/R. It doesn't mean there's anything wrong with those couples and I actually think they're all well-suited, it's just they're not my style as Ben's mom would say.

IMO, a lot of people (generally speaking) might have a much different opinion of this couple if more of their relationship filmed during the show was shown.  But if that had happened there wouldn't have been a need for a show because everyone would have known what the ending would be!

Well, even post-show stuff (interviews and appearances) leaves me dry. So, no, it's not just the edited version of BenLo that leaves me feeling "blah" about them. TETO.

AC I get you. I also am not a fan because their love story did not inspire me. the "You are my person" line felt so corny (weak at best). I for one never fan girl over any of the couples after the show ends, needless to say I don't wish any of these relationship to fail.

Total different strokes! I liked the show version of BenLo, but the post show and interview version is gold for me!! Seriously gold. I love their vibe in interviews. They are both so poised and well spoken, take turns and play off each other and are just such a team and a great compliment to one and other.

Today they are doing a cooking class, Lauren's bday present to Ben. I'm truly loving them post show about 5x more than the show. To each their own, right?

Edit can only hide so much, I was a Nick fan and could still tell that Kaitlyn was all into Shawn. Same with Des, the edit was all about her Brooks obsession, but they couldn't hide the amazing natural chemistry she and Chris had.

Some people just prefer the story they see with F2 better. I am Blu's opposite, I watched Brad and wanted to slap him to get over Emily, the fake Dolly Parton. I wanted JPG with Nikki, even though they edited him as better with Clare. I wanted Andi to do something different and pick Nick instead of perfect Josh.

I truly think the couples we like just appeal to something in us. I like relationships of equals, not necessarily those who are the same but two people who IMO make each other better. Since I skipped this season, I have no idea if I would have been for BenLo, BenJo or Ben and Caila. Probably not Caila as all recaps I read made it seem like Ben didn't really get her, since I really like Caila, that probably adds to my Ben blahs.

I like that not everyone is on board with the same couples, it makes it interesting. If Ben and Lauren make it, then maybe like Des and Chris I will grow to love them. Better than how I feel about some others of the married five who I actively dislike more and more as time goes on. All JMO

^^^All of the producers talk to the show's couples. Some are more attached to some, different friendships, tastes, etc. Ben and lauren are definitely not "special" in that regard. Some find them boring and I can understand that. They won't appeal to all. I am glad this discussion thread exists to express all kind of opinions on the couple. Some posters choose fan threads for only their favorite couple..;) To each their own and keep the opinions coming..good and bad. jmo

I tend to like couples the most during the season and then just wish them well after. I think B/L are a very cute couple so hope for the best. I don't find any of the couples all that compelling (other than my faves, Chris & Peyton) but they'd probably be my favorites of the show's final couples right now. It's all subjective anyway.

With that being said, I haven't tuned in to any BenLo SM because they don't really inspire me to do so. I just don't get the warm fuzzies for this couple like I have other Bach couples of the past. It's just different strokes, I guess. 
I don't doubt Lauren has genuine feelings for Ben...but there is something about her that says "calculating" to me. The real test for them will be a year or so from now and the media quiets down. For Ben's sake, I hope they last...but I still have some niggles of doubt as to whether Lauren really does love the simple life regular 'ole Ben from Indiana. If she were to have met Ben outside of the bubble, in the bar or bookstore for instance, I don't think she would've been that interested, personally, imo.

I was the opposite. I was spoiled going in and really found Jojo prettier in her contestant photo than Lauren. So, I immediately had negative feelings towards Lauren thinking like "why would Ben pick her than Jojo?" Then I watched Benlo's first moment out of the limo and found it really cute. They seemed both genuinely nervous and it was adorable. Jojo's limo entrance not so much because I always found those with gimmicks incredibly annoying. When she came out with a unicorn head, I thought it was really corny. Right off the bat, I kind of felt she's exerting too much effort and found her to be the one "calculating."

When Benlo had their first date and they started talking about the simple things in life, I was hooked into BenLo's train. People may find them boring because of that simplicity. Lauren talking about her dad's yard is so incredibly simple that I can see her being very into a simple guy like Ben. I've rewatched that dinner conversation so many times because I loved Ben's reaction when Lauren started talking about liking simple things in life. There was that immediate recognition that Lauren is so much like him and he immediately wanted her to really get to know him.

Jojo's 3 dates or so with Ben, all she talked about was being guarded and her past. Her HTD was about her past. It was like she's stuck in her past and true enough she came running back to her past right after the show. I also found her monkey hugs incredibly annoying. It's like look "I'm such a really fun girl" blah blah blah. I actually find her immature and therefore good luck on her show.

I wasn't spoiled until after I watched the premiere. Lauren's first interactions with Ben really stood out to me as feeling very normal and natural. All of Jo felt kind of forced and calculated. I think her storyline and arch was ramped up by producers and manipulated because Ben and Lauren were just so completely obvious. That, and Jo's extroverted "fun loving" personality screams Bachelorette, so they had to start pumping her for the next lead anyway. So to me, JoJo felt calculated the whole way through, and Ben and Lauren just incredibly natural.

Are they boring for some? Maybe. But I think for a real life relationship, that's a good thing. Chris and Des are super boring, but SUPER comfortable and compatible. Ditto Ashley and JP. Ben and Lauren give off that same vibe to me, and I love it for its normalcy.
