Congratulations Ashley on getting a pediatric residency!! It's awesome hearing that news confirmed. She's worked hard for that.

Very cool to hear that Ashley & JP will be moving so they both have reasonable commutes to work. I don't think it'll be too hard to find a place that'll result in an hour or so commute for both of them. It'll probably mean commuting by NJ Transit to Manhattan for JP, and NJ Transit/SEPTA commuting to Philly for Ashley. Yeah, maybe it's a little early for them to settle into the suburban life but there are some nice places in NJ that'll afford them good local entertainment/food options and they won't be far from the Manhattan scene.

Adorable interview with Ashley & JP too. It's nice seeing their chemistry's still there and how they still laugh together.

Seems like everything's moving forward for the couple! I'm really happy for them.

I think it says a lot about them especially JP that they were able to compromise and come up with a solution to make them both satisfied. That's what serious couples do.

Don't get me wrong, I think if they get married it will not be in two years. It will be within a year. It's just hearing them say they started planning but had no date yet seemed strange. Being to stickler for planning myself, that is always the first step for me.

I've worked in Manhattan, Jersey, CT, and now in MA. Depending on the location of their home a 2 hour commute is not uncommon. My husband travels an hour and a half one way to work now. Philly to Manhattan is roughly about 2 hours (approx.). Not too far.

Thanks cfck2222 and Thomigal. Doesn't seem so bad. At first coming from the west it seemed such a long distance trying to go to work from three different states.

Just to give you a more concrete idea, if they move to somewhere near the Princeton Junction train station in West Windsor, New Jersey then that'd give Ashley about an hour 20 minute commute into Philadelphia's 30 Street Station and it'd give JP about an hour commute into New York Penn Station in midtown Manhattan.

Funny story. As a born and bred NYer, I always thought in terms of hours and minutes when it came to commuting. Now living in MA and driving, it's more miles. Don't know why that is, it just is...

Congrats to Ashley! The pediatric dentistry programs are so competitive!!! U Penn says in their website, they only have 2 new positions every year!!!!
