Re: Bachelor New Zealand - Jordan Mauger - Season 2 - Episode Discussion - *Sleuthing* - *Spoilers*
My take on this season is:
- average bachelor look
- more mature and next door bachelorettes (more real, less drama queen)
- low budget for the dates
This mixed all together and you get a dating tv show that has no drama, no out of this world dates...
Besides Claudia and Naz, we did not have much action in the "mansion" (which is also an ordinary house totally not glamor).
All the girls are on the defensive and say pretty much the same thing: he is a nice guy but I need to know more or spend more time to see if something may happen between us. Good guy yes, prince charming definitely not.
just ordinary people cast for an ordinary show. IMO
And that is why the audience is not interested much. With art green the guy was younger, he was the first and he was lovable. Then we had Dani and Maltilda and all of them got HUGE fans. They were also younger.
This show looks more mature, more what we would expect in real life and that is that. People do not want day to day ordinary bachelor. They want to hate and love and Jordan does not bring this and the bachelorettes as well.
Do not get me wrong. They are all lovely (with the exception of naz and claudia who were of course cast to be the villains). But at the end of the day, nobody cares with who Jordan will end. We just wish him well because Fleur, Storm, Rebecca whomever end with him, they are all nice ladies.
So I wonder... if Jordan was not the initial choice... considering the women's personalities. I wonder who would have made them become different, more enthusiastic, more "in love"? ... I am not sure anyone would have really change them. They picked nice ordinary ladies and I think they did good for Jordan. I cannot imagine girls like in the french bachelor 21ish nor the over the top american drama queens. Poor Jordan, he would have run away and be still running right now. So overall, I think bachelor and women is a good match but totally boring for us, viewers...

Just noticed another piece in the NZ Herald stating that ratings have dropped significantly with many taking to Twitter etc complaining that the show is boring. Will find the link.

@HEA what an astute summary of the show thus far. I agree entirely HEA there is an element of the mundane o the show. As you say Matilda, Dani, Poppy were sparkly, interesting personalities and though all the girls this season are lovely they all seem unsure of really allowing their personalities to shine and do not seem to want to stand out of the crowd. They seem to gain support from each other as most of the women who have left the show have stated that bar Naz and Claudia the women are wonderful.
I am waiting with anticipation for the women to celebrate this journey and take more risks rather than giving presents, playing truth games, etc.

It is my belief that every bachelorette going in this franchise expect to meet a successful gorgeous guy. The kind of guy they will hardly meet in real world. The kind of guy that is almost out of their league. They also want some over the top dates and group dates... overall they want to be spoiled.
What do they get with Jordan? None of that.
So in their shoes, I would have acted the same way. Go with the wind and see where this sails me. It does not mean that he is ugly or mean or anything like that. Just average all the way: average mansion, in a rainy Hawaii (rainy season is cheap season) and ordinary group dates
So I get the non enthusiastic attitude. It was like going on vacation expecting 5 stars hotel and having bungalows instead or expecting a big diamond and get a tiny white sapphire instead
ps: Jordan is probably a very nice and sweet man. i have nothing against him. I am just totally indifferent toward him.
... in my opinion

@AllAboutLove are you watching?
Naz has the single date. Most of the girls are surprised. They don't see that he's that into her.
The go on a seaplane and fly over Pearl Harbour. Great date - lucky girl

Ceri, Alicia, Rebecca and storm talking about Naz. Ceri doesn't think that Naz will kiss him.

Rose and jack moment - quick and very cheesy!
This date is actually going better than I thought- but still don't think he's into her

I don't know it feels like Naz and Jordan are acting?
Feels forced on both their sides like they are just saying and doing a script.
Getting flashbacks to Chrystal's date based on the scripted feel.

Glad you are watching. One of my kids has nicked off with my laptop so having to post on my iPad which not easy.
What do you think of the date so far?
I think that Naz has toned down her bad attitude over the last few episodes

On both their parts it feels like Naz and Jordan (and the show) are trying to make this into something it is not. If that's the case then I think it's to get Naz further along the show just so the "controversial" girl stays on the show longer. It's boring already, imo.
