Re: Bachelor New Zealand - Jordan Mauger - Season 2 - Episode Discussion - *Sleuthing* - *Spoilers*
Jordan IMO hasn't come across as doing anything shady with the girls.
Compared to the U.S. series, the NZ series is PG-13 rated IMO.
Like Jen said, it's the nature of the show for the lead to mislead the contestants. But in Jordan's case he is actually spending time with the girls he is interested in. And lMO some of those girls on the show appeared to be on just for the travel & fun, and I don't blame them for it especially if they didn't feel the connection with Jordan.
I wouldn't advise anyone I know to do the show but I don't understand what these girls are talking about with regards to being blindsided, JMO.

Hmmm... I wonder if any of this (girls not seeming as happy) has to do with what was sleuthed (Scout or Stuff article?) about there being a problem with the contestants and filming? Because there definitely is not the same vibe as last year. Maybe editing is reflecting this rather than editing creating this?
From the get-go it seems like Jordan was maybe not the show's first choice (Mike the host alluded to such) and problems with filming and contestants being mentioned as well as the response overall (the girls, media, past contestants, etc) is not liking Jordan as much or rather, not "connecting" with him as lead as much? (maybe a reflection of what the girls felt in the house?).
I think it may just be the affects of coming off of Art's season where he and Matilda are NZ's sweethearts and pretty much universally loved. The Spinoff themselves have stated they don't care for Jordan and even Ceri in her one interview on TV3 site was asked who is her celebrity crush and she said "Art Green".
Then again, in addition to the afterglow of trying to match Art's season, Mike said this year there is more competition to win Jordan or just "win" but I don't see that at all - more like they just want a free trip. Perhaps there has been a bit of dysfunction and it's reflected in the edit because there are quite a few girls saying they felt nothing for Jordan and then there's Jordan saying he isn't sure the girls there are interested in him? Perhaps that's why Jordan said in this past episode he wanted to see who approached him? I suspect he may have got wind that quite a few of the girls weren't interested in him?
For his sake, I hope Jordan doesn't have to choose someone who is interested in him more than he is in her? That would suck :/

This is written by Duncan Grieves a NZ Herald Reporter..."So far, the returns are very much diminished. Despite the flasher mansion it feels a poorer relation on almost every front. The dates are hard work.. but all feel like they wear their budgetary constraints too prominently. The Bachelorettes are a more timid lot, and prone to the kind of in-fighting which proves some of the shows more humourless critics infuriatingly close to right," he wrote. "Cumulatively it means that if this season were a rose, rather the thorny and fully blooming version of 2015, this one would be drooping limply in the vase, its petals scattered and listless at is base." The question now is how will Mediaworks regenerate interest in their show? - nzherald.co.nz]"
Just noticed another piece in the NZ Herald stating that ratings have dropped significantly with many taking to Twitter etc complaining that the show is boring. Will find the link.

"Are Kiwis over The Bachelor? Ratings have hit an all-time low as this week's episodes saw fewer viewers tune in to the reality romance.
Last night 223,000 New Zealanders tuned into The Bachelor NZ on TV3. Of those, 130,000 were aged 18 to 49, while just 111,000 viewers were aged 25-54.
Ratings in the 24-54 demographic hit an all-time low last night, dropping from 135,000 the previous night. That's down from the season peak of 192,0000 viewers that tuned in for episode two.
Disgruntled viewers took to Twitter this week to complain about the lack of action on the show.
One person tweeted; "Was Art as intolerably boring to watch as Jordan is?".

Now that I think about it... wasn't this year the first year that US Bach show was aired somewhat concurrently while airing in the US? I wonder if that has had an impact at all on viewing?
Any thoughts on this from resident Kiwis?

@AllAboutLove I am not sure, interesting though. I really enjoy reading your posts. Has there been a drop in ratings in the US ? I bet the Ben Higgins season was very popular.
I am feeling a bit sorry for Jordan. Do you think the producers are encouraging him to make decisions or choices that are detrimental to his own well being ? There seems to be an undercurrent of unrest, discontentment.... something. I noted that in her latest interview (SPY) I think, will double check the source. Danielle said that she felt sure Storm would win due to their connection, kissing etc. Do you think some of the girls think that this is a forgone conclusion ? and have just kind of given up and are going to enjoy their stay.
I really like Ceri though I agree with the others she is likely to be F4. i looked on the TV3 homepage, Bachelor NZ and they have the latest photos of the contestants mingling together, some on the group date etc I can not see one of Ceri except at the airport. Could some else check and give their opinion.

Re: Bachelor New Zealand - Jordan Mauger - Season 2 - Episode Discussion - *Sleuthing* - *Spoilers*
@Karina I think the ratings for the US season were high as they usually are (millions of viewers) but was wondering if maybe viewing the US show (where it has a much bigger budget and more seasons total) may have made viewers see this season as more boring if that is what is being said? It may be the focus on the Naz drama early on and not as much connections with Jordan shown so lack of interest makes it more difficult? It's hard because if there's no drama it is seen as boring but when it is drama it is boring so hard for the show to win in its second season? I think maybe Art's season did because there was humor with the drama (Chrystal) and also lots of humor with Matilda and Dani and other girls too as well as the connection being more obvious so that may play into it?
I feel bad for Jordan too - IA there definitely seems to be a feeling of unrest or discontentment with the girls. That he kept saying he wasn't sure the girls were there for him or for the free trip/fun ride makes me wonder if he had had enough? He kept bringing up that the girls need to approach him and let him know how they feel about him but I wonder if that backfired with the girls he hadn't had a date with so they were less likely to approach? With Storm it seems he approached her and she would let him know how she felt so there was no issue on that front. IA that maybe the girls knew it was Storm if she is indeed F1. That could play into it...

@AllAboutLove thanks for sharing. I agree the focus on the Naz drama has backfired. I asked some young mums at the school I help out at... most of them are losing interest in the show and cited the Naz focus as a reason. They like Jordan but some said he did not really let his guard down. I recall one of the contestants saying that Jordan only let his guard down with Fleur and Storm but I can not recall who it was.

Re: Bachelor New Zealand - Jordan Mauger - Season 2 - Episode Discussion - *Sleuthing* - *Spoilers*
@Karina great info, thanks for sharing It's always great to hear what viewers are thinking and I can see why Naz can be part of that reason for losing interest. Her "hit list" comments just fall flat and aren't funny or snarky so they don't really add anything to the show it seems? More of a forced villain role?
I am really hopeful though that the season will turn around. There's 12 episodes still left (20 episodes total including live AFTR/WTA) so it's not even halfway through the season yet. Fingers crossed that the show can get behind Jordan and once the girls are down to maybe F6 or F4 the lovestory will be shown.

Great posts! @Karina @AllAboutLove
IA - no one I have spoken to about the show was impressed with the Naz and her hit list edit they have delivered.
Kiwis in general are known worldwide to be very friendly and welcoming. Naz was not a good representative of who we are and how we conduct ourselves and none of the viewers liked that.
I think that maybe TPTB were trying to put a different spin on this season - maybe jazz it up with a bit more drama - and its fallen flat because it doesn't sync with how we like to be portrayed (easy going and tolerant) and it has lost its Kiwi uniqueness.
