The Bachelor 20 - Ben Higgins - Episode 9 - Discussion - *Sleuthing - Spoilers*

Seems like it's going to be a cray cray ATFR. Ben will have to spend a lot of time explaining telling two women he loved them, then choosing F1 and F1 is going to have to explain how she got past him telling another woman he loved her. And if there was a F2 blindside,the confrontation over that.

An ATFR with very little time for showcasing the happy couple.

I think it could be pretty typical. 1/2 the time spent with the final 2 and then the other 1/2 with the final 1. Even if they are talking about how she got over him saying I love you to the final 2 she is still sitting next to him, hopefully holding his hand and smiling and her answer only has to be as long as she chooses.

^^^ It has been said that the real falling in love happens after filming. So to that, Ben and Lauren (presuming she is, as I believe, f1) have had since mid- November together. One thing that I think about Ben is that he lets folks know how he feels, and wants them to express his feelings, too (not always typical of a male). IMO he fessed up right away to Lauren- we may not ever see it, but I think he probably did. Because if he didn't, the moment they started airing previews of saying ILY to more than one, he and f1 would have had a hard time, not sending cute little Disney tweets on Valentine's Day- it would probably be more like radio silence. As I recall, Ben's reaction to them airing that preview was "I didn't think that would happen so soon" (paraphrase)- he wanted a little more time, I think, before having to weather the storm- a long lasting storm. Question is: will it end up being anti-climatic after all the weeks of having the story out there. IMO tptb are milking it to build rating amongst all those wanting to see a train wreck.

That's just the way it's been since inception.

That foreshadows Jojo saying something to the effect that things mean nothing till he gets down on one knee to propose. = Her blindsiding .

Where does the dinner portion of the FD usually happen? Is it on the same property as the suite?

I get it. It went off in my head light a lightbulb yesterday. But that is a false belief. As I said in another thread, in normal social circumstances, none of us would fart and then talk about it commonplace situations like it was an item on the menu. Yet this is normal in a Mel Brooks movie.
Liken this show to a Mel Brooks movie. You are not going to get normal under the best of circumstances. So it makes it difficult to put ourselves in the situations the show highlights, as it's totally false and outrageous. This is how I look at it and is JMOAA>

OK - here's my thought process. This is as I recall things:

Lauren's HTD was spotted filming in Portland on 11/3 (per RS with pictures to prove it). The next steps would be to fly to LA to film the RC in the mansion in the evening. The earliest that could have taken place was 11/4 because of travel time and waiting for sunset. So - RC on 11/4.

The next step was to fly to Jamaica - earliest possible was 11/5. Now once in Jamaica the next step is to begin filming FDs. FD takes 2 days to film - day 1 is the daytime portion and evening portion, followed by the overnight. But day 2 is an off day to recover from day 1. The earliest possible FD would have been 11/6 but we having sightings of the raft date filming on 11/7 which means no FD was filmed on 11/6 because they can't go back to back. So 11/6 was a day off and the first FD was Caila's filmed on 11/7 and 11/8 was a day of rest.

The next filming date was the helicopter date with spotting of filming on 11/9 which fits the 2 day schedule. We know (from the episode description) that the helicopter date was JoJo so that was the second date.

With no time between 11/3 and 11/10 to do more than film two FD and no time for a 3rd, the 3rd FD had to have filmed after Calia's on the 7th and JoJo's on the 9th which means Lauren's was last - even though they will air it so that it looks like JoJo's was last.

If Lauren is last, do you think he'll tell her about his blunder?

Why does he continue to perpetuate the two ILYs with his parents later on if it was only an unfortunate slip of the tongue?

I'm referring to the preview where he's saying, I made a mistake and I don't know how this happened. I shared that vid here yesterday . I guess if I rephrase it it'll be, do you think he'll tell his F1 about the other ily? Or just tell after the FRC?

What I've come to read and see from all the sleuthing, it wasn't. He really fell for both ladies, and he picked the one he simply just couldn't let go of. IMO everything else ('what have I done' etc) is him trying to save face and again please people.

I am a bit confused why he's having his parents so involved, though.

**edited** This show is NOT real life under normal circumstances. Even worse case scenario and Ben really "fell in (Bachelor bubble) love" with JoJo, and told her, and was super confused... It doesn't spell doom for Ben and Lauren necessarily. It's how they are handling it now, in real life. Let's take a look at some past success couples and what they dealt with during filming:

Des: Chris wouldn't have even been her pick if Brooks stayed! She told the cameras and Brooks over and over she was in love with him and he was the one! Chris and Des have now been married a year!

Ashley: she slept with Ben F. (Ewwwww). And she let him propose. She's been married to JP for a few years + kid!

Jason: he told someone else he LOVED her and slept with her AND friggen PICKED her. Now he's married to Molly for like 6 years + a kid.

It's about how they are handling it now. If Ben is upfront with Lauren about everything, if she is even a smidge understanding about the odd circumstances they were in and realizes he wasn't even really hers until FRC day, and they have good communication, they should be fine.

I don't hate Ben. I think he's doing a great job being in the moment, being kind, and all around being a good Bachelor. He shouldn't have told another woman he loves her, but I can see how this could happen. I feel bad for him.
