The Bachelor 20 - Ben Higgins - Episode 9 - Discussion - *Sleuthing - Spoilers*

IMO TPBP are propping BenJo and downplaying BenLo a lot to build up this 'in love with two women' sl more intense than it really is. I do think BenJo have a strong connection, but the very heavy pro Jo editing is making me go hmmm. No itm from Ben about how he feels about Lauren. Switching Lauren/JoJo dates for JoJo to air last. JoJo's ex appearing whom she lets go of for Ben. CH trying to make us forget Lauren's even on the show on his blog. The early airing of the 'in love with 2 women'. Almost all the BenLo hype is from their interaction, how Ben acts so smitten with her.

Episode 9 will be very heavy on BenJo I suspect, her date getting aired last being the last think on the viewers minds.

I think all you describe is pretty common editing for F2. I always keep in mind that they want F2 to believe she's F1 (overconfident) and F1 to fear she's F2 (holding something back) - in this way they get a heartbroken F2 and a gleefully surprised F1. And they try to keep the lead open so they can get credible footage with F2 instead of him just shutting down. To varying degrees, all this happens; IMO sometimes it's pretty believable and other times it's pretty obviously fake. There's a lot of manipulation that goes on behind the scenes to try and pull this off.

But he's already confessed his love the night before looking very vulnerable, and probably several times during the night as well. To me it looked like the last reassuring ILY before they parted ways that morning, like "Don't worry about the RC, because I do love you". He didn't sound defensive to me, just calm and confident in what he was saying. JMO.

Oh yeah, I completely agree. IMO all this just clearly points out that JoJo is the F2.

I don't disagree with how they typically position the story at the end but I don't see JoJo as overconfident in this case. The presser says she's anxious after her awful HTD and one of the clips show her as teary eyed with a tearful sounding voice. I see her as somewhat reserved.

Whereas, the other two come across as more confident and beaming in their shots. Lauren does express reservations but not in an overly worrisome way.

I believe they had to show this when they did (after Ep 5 aired) because Olivia was soon to be gone (Ep 6) and without her as a distraction, it was next to impossible to hide Ben and Lauren's connection from the viewer. To show it early was their way of keeping the viewer coming back to see how Ben being 'in love with two women' happens when he already seems so smitten with Lauren as opposed to not tuning in at all because the viewers can obviously see how it all ends IMO.

I don't think it was all that early. I originally assumed that preview was for the finale as such felt early but now that its two weeks prior to the finale on the FDs it doesn't feel like that came out so early. IMHO

More torn than ever, Ben acknowledges that he is in love with two incredible women, and he has professed his love to both.

The way it is worded, Ben "acknowledges" he is in love with two women, leads me to believe we will only see him say ILY (twice) to Lauren, and he'll confess in ITM he also said an ILY to JoJo off screen or the mics picked it up when they were in FS.
