AC, great thoughts! I'm thinking that this season is following Ashley's season's script/storyboard. Often, I think about another sleuther's statement that they leave things in the edit of the final couple to comment on their belief in the couple. When I think about that, I see them showing us the reason that Ben and Lauren will work.

Like you, though, I'm a little concerned that we're going to get blindsided as viewers if Ben does a 180 at the end of the season (pure speculation). By this time in Des' season, it seemed so obvious that it was only Brooks for her, which is mimicked this season by Ben with Lauren. Then all of that fell apart really hard and really fast. I just sense, though, that JoJo is too aware of the reality of both Lauren and Ben's feelings for each other, and she's hedging with him for that reason plus others.

Though Jo has rising conflict, I see Lauren's edit as a repeat of JP's. Yes, he was jealous, but he and Ashley kept overcoming these little obstacles that the show kept throwing in their path to distract from the very real relationship that was forming, IMO. We'll see!

IMO when the show gives us rising conflict it can be either because we will see that conflict resolved, or because it's the reason why that relationship doesn't work at the end. Ashley and JP always found a way to solve each others problems no matter what the show threw at them (most of which was smoke screen / producer crafted).

I sort of keep finding my mind drift back to what are the key protagonists in this seasons little drama looking for? What does JoJo want in her life? What does Lauren want in her life? What does Ben want in his life? Where do these wants match and where do they miss? I think where they match is the final pairing.

Lucas, I think that you and I are on the same page in our interpretations of things! We're just using different language. For me, the clue, as I've written in the past, is conflict resolution. The F2--maybe even the F3--girls/guys have a conflict as part of their storyline. The lead also has one. The timing of both the lead's and the F2 girls' conflict resolution usually points to the F1 in that the F1 and the lead resolve each other's conflicts.

I like that part of your post where you reword that idea using "matching needs and wants (paraphrase)." Relationally speaking, you are right on the money. We're looking for conflict resolution and the best match, IMO.

Such a great season to watch!

JoJo, Becca and Ben all said the word "blindside." We have already seen Becca get blindsided, now it's JoJo AND Ben's turn. We know how JoJo will be blindsided in the end, but how will Ben be blindsided? Thoughts?

Becca wasn't really blindsided though, IMO. Ben didn't give her the validation she wanted, and then let her go. That'd be a blindside, IMO.

Well, she thought she was blindsided. My point is these three people said the word, so it's foreshadowing. Still trying to figure out how Ben gets blindsided. I mean, he's been set up for the fall since the beginning. "PERFECT Ben." Not so perfect in the end.

I don't really like that either Becca or Jojo asked not to be blindsided because they should know that Ben can't promise that and Ben should never have told Jojo he wouldn't. As far as the editing goes, Ben is going to have to "blindside" Jojo when he doesn't pick her. That's probably the only reason they left it in as foreshadowing. I don't see any indication that Ben will be blindsided himself.

My biggest doubt about having Jojo as a possible lead is her HTD. It seems to be too OTT with her brothers and the ex (whether he actually appears or not) and smells more like an audition to me. Hopefully it will be more normal than it appeared on the preview.

Maybe he is blindsided by the woman he promised he wouldn't blindside. In my opinion he is not expecting to meet Jo Jo's 38 year old ex-boyfriend and have her brothers be so negative.

ITA! It gave me manipulative vibes, JoJo and Becca knew he can't really give heads up when he's sending someone home.

Her family's/brothers' reality tv connections and the appearing ex and extra harsh way of confronting Ben just SCREAM set up and them being aware how to 'play' these shows. IMO.

The essence of the show is choosing one woman out of 25(or however many).
Both women are aware of this and aware that they are led to believe they are that woman.
What they do with that is their choice. How they deal with it is their choice.
The lead is simply doing what he is supposed to do.  That is why the continual theme of "leap of faith" or "unable to to let go to the experience" is always forefront.
The whole idea of "blindside" to me is slightly ridiculous because that possibility that you are not the one always remains--Brad 1.0.

"Don't blindside me" could have meant different things to JoJo. Maybe she wouldn't be as upset if he just let her go, but telling her he loved her and possibly having sex with her? That is harsh IMO. He didn't have to tell her he loved her. He took it to another level IMO. At least skeezy Andi didn't tell Nick she loved him. She still had that card to use against him when he outed her, but Ben doesn't. Could it have been genuine when he told her he loved her? Absolutely, but I still think he knew he was picking Lauren.

In regards to the preview, I think they clear up the ex thing fairly quickly because on the same couch, we see them talking about her ex and then we also see Ben smiling pretty big telling JoJo he's nervous presumably to meet her family and there's also a snippet of them kissing on that couch. I'll hold my judgement when it comes to the brothers until I see it.
