Re: The Bachelorette Australia - Sam Frost - Season 1 - Social Media - Media - #2 *Spoilers - Sleuthing*
It's not about being better or good at anything. We are all good at it all. If there were no screencaps or no spoilers or social media I would be riding the "Richie is F1" train all the way. I would be posting right now how I see it with Richie and he is best match and how can he not be F1. So I completely understand.
There's Sam's love story and then there is my/viewers love story that I/we get to watch.
Sometimes those two things are the same and sometimes they are different.
Some will see this with Sasha and thus see Sam's love story too (since he is F1 as I know, not b/c of sleuthing but know from inside info I know he is) and others will see a love story with Michael or Alex or Richie.
I have seen a love story with Richie and Sam. But not all love stories end happy or with that person being F1. Some love stories end in heartbreak or rejection. For Richie, that is what I see. A love story that was unrequited love and ended in heartbreak and rejection.
So while I could focus on the love part pre-heartbreak and before he gets dumped off the show, for me personally, I am just tired already and emotionally preparing for the heartbreak.
Tired because it already happened with Heather and I have yet to cheer for a male contestant who actually gets to F1 (it's never happened for me that my male favorite is F1).
So yes, I know it is silly to get emotionally invested but I get emotionally invested in movies and books and art and so on. And I learn so much about myself and life and love by doing so, so to me it is never a "waste" of time.
I like to live my life emotionally attached rather than detached and then bounce back like I always do. It makes for a more fulfilling way of living to me personally and I live by Kahlil Gibran's words

I completely agree AAL. If it wasn't for the screencaps I would be still on the Richie train...up until last week, where Sam made it perfectly clear where her heart was not. I will probably watch this Wednesday to see this storm in a teacup curveball. I do think now that for Sam this was about redemption, about being in control, about moving forward. What I'm not to sure of is whether this is Sam's forever relationship. I'm my opinion this is a healing relationship. Which is a shame because I think this is a forever relationship for all of the F3. JMO

One of the things I love most about this forum is that there are so many points of view and everyone's opinion is valid even if you don't agree with it. Sometimes you think something is so clear and others don't see at all! And posters ask questions and bring up discussions you would have never thought of. I love it!
I personally have seen Sam and Sasha's love story from the very beginning and as much as I adore Richie (he's my own favourite) I just haven't seen the same connection with them. Great friendship - yes. Romantic sparks - no.
I think that Sam admires the maturity and sensitivity of Michael (I certainly do) and thinks he's super sexy (again me too!) but I think she'll decide to go with Sasha who little more light hearted and not so serious.

I'm going to comment on these two posts because there's nothing left for me to sleuth personally. So forgive the commentary, it is only a reflection of my own thoughts and what I know about Sam since last year following her very closely all this time. To save on having to have a long post, I put it in the hidden box to click on.
So all of this which leads me to say... Sam has chosen the one she sees herself with. And whether that is lasting or not who knows. But I do think that she has as good a shot as anyone else. So far, like them or not, all the other Bachelors from Aussie are still with their chosen person (even if not F1 in Blake's case). The lack of pressure to not get engaged I think makes a world of difference. As does taking out the sex factor. It's why I think no matter who the F1 is they have a great shot at making it because the beginning is not like the US versions, it is instead much more healthy concerning what this show is about.

Sundy wrote:... I personally believe Sam is after protection and this is understandable with everything that she had been through. That is what she will get with a relationship with Sasha. And I hope it works. How long it will last once out of the cocoon we will have to wait and see.
- my thoughts:
I totally understand. I too was raised in the (non)fertile soil of dysfunction and loss like Sam. It was inevitable then that I would seek a "protector" and someone who could provide me with safety, security, protection, and shade from the harshness of life. However, I was one of those weird introspective and observant kids who believed that life would be hard and so I would need to learn lessons from others without making those mistakes myself.
So while my siblings chose to find men who fit that mould of ultra 'protector', I consciously made a choice (literally would tell myself out loud not to go down the inevitable path before me) that I would be my own hero and heal myself because I just knew that if I sought a man who would provide shade for me that same shade would also overshadow me and he would lead me more often than not and I would follow him more often than not and so he would be my healer and thus I would be dependent on that and my roots/foundation of healing would be in him rather than within myself. So I just knew that I had to rewire myself and rewrite my story and find someone who could be a true partner, who I could grow WITH more than grow from or rather lean on. Who would protect me but not because I needed to be protected.
So I understand Sam and her reasons and as long as she gets that from Sasha they will be fine. But if Sam ever starts to feel overshadowed by the safety of the shade that he provides then I fear that she will start to "break" again and it is why her "I will keep my name" stance can play in that- but not necessarily a problem since I haven't followed Sasha for long enough to observe if he is wanting that more traditional route or not (love can blind for a while and then it is the realities of life down the road).
Healing is good no matter where it comes from and one can find healing anywhere... but I have found in my lifetime and when looking at healthy relationships (healthy being the key word) that the healing that seems to last is the one that begins with oneself and by oneself... within, rather than without. And it allows for a healed person to not seek healing from another, but just *be* with another. Be whole and grow with another. It's why for me, this was part of what I wanted in a marriage/partnership and made sure that I would be with someone I could grow with (and yes we can lean on each other, in the good times and bad, and support one another and be each other's biggest cheerleaders) but ultimately...
SourceOn marriage:
Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.
Richie's jittery nervousness and waning confidence began either after Sasha got the 2nd date or perhaps after Sam had kissed him and he allowed himself to think she may really be serious about him. Something changed from the mansion dinner onwards. He was a mess at the hometown visit and this lack of confidence really emphasises his boyishness and doesn't help his appeal to Sam at all. And of course it stops him from being playful and witty and articulate which are his shining qualities. Poor fella looks in pain already to me.
I am ready for Sash as F1 and for the real love story to be revealed - Let's put Richie out of his misery.

Interesting read...it didn't actually mention anything about Sasha's boat ride.
It mentions:
White water rafting and thermal activity - Michael
Seaplane to Waiheke Island + Auckland views (is this the boat part??).

The interviews and articles with Sam have really thrown me because she has said multiple times that the F1 will be a surprise and the underdog etc so that points away from Sasha. But as I said before, that could all be misdirection so its not super obvious that she picks Sasha. She did also make a joke about things going 'downhill' with Sasha after their first kiss but we haven't seen that at all yet.
I also think that the whole idea of texting every morning just doesn't seem like a Sasha move to me, from what I've seen.

Sam described Richie on Jackie O as "the underdog" and is clearly selling him as the underdog (as did Dave in his interview about who "wins") and thus getting the viewers ready for the blindside to Richie-the-underdog. It's been TPTB playbook and the media are in on it with being team Richie despite the obviousness that Sasha wins.Bookworm wrote:The interviews and articles with Sam have really thrown me because she has said multiple times that the F1 will be a surprise and the underdog etc so that points away from Sasha. I firmly believe they are selling the underdog bit because of Richie and him being the fave the way they sold Heather who was frontrunner and fave. Different roles but still leading to the same climax = blindsided.

And just to show how the "underdog" story is working...
Not even Richie's HTD took away his lead in the poll.
If anything it increased his lead over the other F3.
He's now ahead by 7% instead of 3% of last week.
Blindside alert
It's all about getting that "blindsided/heartbreak" elimination.
There's always one each season.
Sometimes that person is F2 (Rochelle), sometimes they are F4 (Heather) and sometimes they are F3 (Richie).
I also think the poll is interesting because it says "Which Bachelor do you want to win Sam's heart" and not which Bachelor do you think will win Sam's heart.
It's no coincidence then that Heather was leading before her blindside and Richie before his based on who people want (vs who they think will win).
This year Bach Aussie had Heather and Bette Aussie has Richie.
Both narrated the most of their seasons and talking about their feelings more than the lead about them.
It's just what it is at this point. And Sam and media are just pushing for that storyline.

I spent time reading comments on Sam's IG (the pic with channel 10 logo in the background) & on the Bette FB page & most folks are expecting Richie to be gone next week. Most comments are that the HTD didn't go well for Richie. I have no clue if voting reflects who folks want to be F1 vs who they think will be F1. Though Richie is liked a lot but IMO the public shock when Richie is eliminated will not be close to what it was for Heather, JMO.

I agree - there are many more people now thinking Richie is next to go. There are also some now being negative about Richie, saying he is immature, that the opinions of his mates mean more to him than anything. I have even read negative comments about his looks! How he is friend-zoned etc.
The voting is who they WANT to win, not who WILL win. Also, I think the Bach Au rig the votes to a certain extent to suit their purposes.
