It's interesting that the Kaitlyn we thought we saw on Chris' season we were sure would bring alot of fun and energy to her own. But it's been the opposite. Tense and draining.
Believe the show has a psychologist on staff. I'n sure once they saw Kaitlyn slept with Nick it raised their eyebrows then when Shawn started spouting off about her spending 6-7 hours on his bed and telling him he was "It" they were in panic mode she still had what 4 more episodes at least to go. There is no way that the remaining guys at that point would stay to finish filming when they found out her secrets. Biggest surprise for me was Ben H. stayed after he could tell Shawn "Got Validation" while he went to shower. LOL

I think both Kait and Shawn know they've made mistakes and this isn't how they want to be going forward. She has fav'd many posts that praise her for being someone that's real, even if that real means messy and making mistakes. Same goes for him with his sm as well.
I think they're both normal but this was just the worst venue ever for them to meet and start to date.
Also, I'm sorry if this is wrong, but I like their relationship, warts and all. They're a real couple in how they talk and their body language together, and they're mutually obsessed with each other, which makes it more enjoyable and entertaining to me.

Big: You know, Manhattan has a lot of beautiful women.
Carrie: What an amazing observation!
Big: But the thing is, after awhile, you just wanna be with the one who makes you laugh.

I agree, they really do seem like a real couple and that is why I am unfortunately so invested in this mess and so anxious about the ATFR and non-existent SHV. I just want to see some happiness come out of this mess.

Would it come as a surprise if I told you I have heard that there is a "group" on this show called Story Production? If so then it's too early in the morning for surprises so I won't say anything.
IMO Story Production does just what you think it does - they write the "script" - not dialog but an outline of what is supposed to happen in a particular time and at a particular place and the producers take that and manipulate in all sorts of ways to make it happen so the cameras can film it. We think we're watching a King and Queen move about on their own when in fact everybody is a pawn on the chessboard and only occasionally do something organic.
A "simple love story" is going to look fake and no matter how much we would like to see one, IMO it ain't gonna happen. The villain will not be entirely evil and the hero will not be entirely good - we can relate to that because the imperfections make it more real. At the end of the tale, good will triumph and evil will be vanquished because that's what draws us in to the next season.

^^^^ Oh not surprised at all. ;) The show is in the can, and I am glad kaitlyn spoiled the ending. TPTB are doing what I expected and ignoring the spoiler. I just hope they ask her and shawn about it at the ATFR! Not sure if they will.

Curious what being a real couple is vs an unreal couple? I find conversations about how we think the two people are a fit together in real terms - how their personalities fit, how they bring out certain things in each other ...how they complement each other how they have chemistry most interesting ...curious how others are seeing shawn and k's relationship as real couplehood versus it bring "fake"? I've seen the phrase "real couple" a few times

For me, it comes down to the body language and the total raw honesty, from both of them with each other.emusha wrote:Curious what being a real couple is vs an unreal couple? I loved Kaitlyn telling Shawn that either he's in or he's out, no in between. As hard as it was for her to say and him to hear it, it wasn't sugarcoating anything or trying to be "polite" to each other. A real relationship imo should be like a secret world that's only created for and by two people with its own language, and that's exactly what I see with them.
Put simply, to me, they have transcended a relationship where the people are strangers who are getting to know each other to one where there is real intimacy and connection, and I like watching it, regardless of how long it lasts.

Agreed.
I find I have such mixed emotions on the season.
- I love Shawn and Kaitlyn and how their scenes together transcend the show into watching 2 real people talk, fall in love, figure each other out.
- I'd much rather see Shawn and Kaitlyn have a second one on one, a cute HTD, a sexy FD etc - the usual nice path to the end with the usual dates, but at the same time I like seeing the raw emotions that make them seem so real in their moments together.
- I feel bad for Shawn and all the guys for what Kaitlyn has chosen to do "off camera" and hate that it's made the season a mess but I like seeing her deal with the struggle of handling her mistakes, owning up to them and not acting like she's perfect or getting her back up if she's questioned.
- I feel bad that Nick might go through this and get hurt, when she didn't need to let him join in the first place, and certainly didn't need to go so far with him to not pick him.
- I hate that the whole rest of the season is going to angst, drama and tears with no balance to that it seems.
- I'm disappointed that the girl who became a fan fav for being so cute and fun is having a season that is about the least cute and fun it could be but I also am fascinated to see how this gets to an ending and more attached to this couple than I have been in such a long time.
-Lastly glad to know the spoiler because watching all this and thinking Kaitlyn ended up single would be too much of a downer to take.

I really enjoyed last night's episode. It held my attention from start to finish. Some thoughts:
*Ireland -- what an inspired setting! I love that the show is spending more than one week there. It is so gorgeous. The Irish tourist authorities must be patting themselves on the back for snagging this show. I finally feel that my desire to be an armchair traveler is being satiated after the desert that was Chris. S.'s season. I also like that this is not a tropical setting -- which is fine, I just like the change-up.
*The plot twist -- I don't think the producers would have done this if they hadn't genuinely feared that Shawn would walk out (if he found out about Kaitlyn's intimacies with Nick.)
*J.J. -- He was surprised that Kaitlyn gave him the boot? Really? Memo to J.J.: When you confessed about your infidelity, your value on the marriage market dropped by quite a few points, especially with so many other attractive men available.
*Joe -- Nice guy, but I'm not seeing any chemistry there.
*Ben H. -- I was impressed by how he handled himself on last night's episode. I would like to see more of him on the Bachelor franchise.
*Ben Z. -- What a hunk! Oh, those broad shoulders. I would like to see more of him on the franchise as well. I howled when Kaitlyn gave him the boot.
*Jared -- for me, he is probably the most likeable among the men. I could see him fitting seamlessly into my own family. I would like to see more of him on the franchise.
*Chris "Cupcake" -- He's a very nice guy. Personally, I don't find his looks that compelling. I could see a heavy hand in the editing of his 1-on-1 date. My personal wish is that the series would show a bit more of the "getting to know you" conversations so that we can see a relationship developing, or not. The talk about where they would potentially live if things worked out was a step in the right direction there. I was alarmed when he got so close to the edge of the cliff when Kaitlyn left -- not because I thought he would throw himself off, but because he might have an accidental fall. I think when the camera drew back to show the sound boom and the production staff member, it was a reminder to the viewers that there are always other people around to look after the cast members.
*Nick -- I was gratified by the shocked look on his face when Kaitlyn suggested that he might kiss and tell. He's slowly growing on me. He has a lot of what I would call "social intelligence." He knows the right thing to say and when to say it. I can see why the producers decided to bring him back on the show. His personality is a perfect fit for his job in sales.
*Shawn -- whatever natural charm he possesses is being overshadowed by his possessiveness. At a certain point, I could see Kaitlyn thinking, "Yes, we have a good thing going on here. But I have a show to put on, fella." Her regret at telling him earlier that he was "it" says it all. She knows that she unleashed the green-eyed monster (so to speak.)

I find that I don't have to watch this season anymore because it is so much better just reading here!!!! I love it, keep up the great work!!
I don't expect this couple to make it and I wonder if and when Shawn sees Kaitlyn ever smiling at some guy how he'll take it. Her problems of course...
There have been how many seasons and I don't know the actual number of men involved but they found them selves one INSECURE GUY in Shawn!!! Any guy that goes through this, at times, has their doubts, but nothing like this!!! Sorry no free passes from me!!! Hasn't Shawn said at some point that he didn't want to fall back into the insecurities or something similar???? Now I'm not sure if TPTB knew how he was in past relationships but I bet they couldn't believe what kind of drama this guy was giving them!!!
Anyway JMO...

^^^ It is your right not to watch but imo you are missing out on a great opportunity. It is soooo fascinating watching and knowing the ending. I love it!
Shawn is laughing at himself on SM and that is a good sign. He is not taking this silly show seriously! He is probably grateful for meeting Kaitlyn and excited to see where it goes, but he can laugh at himself and the editing.
TPTB are loving all the "man" tears Kait is bringing out in everyone!
