Re: Married At First Sight - Season 2 - Sean Varricchio - Davina Kullar - *Sleuthing - Spoilers* #3
I had mentioned in a prior post that his license was never suspended or restricted. DUI's DO get reported to the Board of Nursing and it goes on record. However, if it was truly a one time thing, you don't really get disciplined. If they feel that you have a problem with a substance (whether it be drugs or alcohol) they will put you into the Recovering Nurse Program. (RNP) While you are in the recovery program your license is probated. (Still active but with restrictions pending completion of the program)
Sean's license is active until 2017. This is the website where you can verify Nursing License Status. It's a national registry. If the nurse has disciplinary actions, it would be on here as well. It appears that Sean does not. Sometimes a hospital will deal with things internally but I don't know what the case is with Sean.
Either way, here is the website to verify any nurse in the United States. It also verifies their status and if there is any disciplinary history. If there was any disciplinary actions it would be listed with the dates, the violation code and the action taken.

But I don't think that's accurate.
The official NJ site shows him as active, NO Board action (notwithstanding DUI, in other words), and expiry date of 5/31/07.
He probably didn't have to report it, but could do so voluntarily (i.e., enter the professional assistance program for alcohol reasons, to avoid issues). https://www.ncsbn.org/Chapter_37_New_Jersey_Board_of_Nursing.pdf
Straight up out of state DUI wouldn't usually be crime of moral turpitude. Who knows re violation of probation if that added to the DUI conviction. I think professionals with DUI convictions are often advised to self disclose but I am completely ignorant of nursing or NJ or Florida practices or requirements.
But I do know it's a serious enough issue that the dude must have been under unimaginable personal stress during the (brief!) tenure of his marriage with all this plus whatever was going on at work. His eyes looked like pinwheels in half those ITM interviews, right?
You are absolutely right. If a nurse has a DUI they are responsible for self reporting. If they do not self report and it comes out later that they hid it, then the license will be restricted.

I think it is different in each state. But in Pennsylvania I am certain for nurses even if it is a one time DUI they automatically enter you into the recovery program. Your license still stays active because the program is confidential. If you violate the program rules that's when disciplinary action is taken. I know of two nurses this happened to.

Davina needs to step away from the smartphone. First off, she is not coming across as light, entertaining, or funny. She is coming across as the word the person tried to type. People typing on smartphones make absurd typos. One time I was trying to let large group know by email that traffic was terrible on the way in to DC so I would be late joining the call. Stupid Siri and trying to clean up the dictation, while driving. The message that went out to this distinguished group (I've been in my career 25+ years) said that "rubella" was going to make me late. I still laugh about that. Who cares, Davina, move on! Stop tugging back on the rope, girl. Just let go, and get busy with your next stage of life! These people need PR managers if they are going to attempt to stay in the public eye now that their Warhol Fifteen Minutes are up. Very poor "brand management"!
I totally agree! She is not helping her negative "image" with her continued negative SM behavior.

I agree that Davina has gotten carried away on SM. But I think she was truly hurt right from the start. (She talked about how it was making her feel like she wasn't good enough, etc.) When emotions get the better of you -- it can feel pretty overwhelming. If she hasn't been in a nasty breakup before, that could explain the lack of a mature perspective after being deeply hurt. Add to that, she couldn't talk about it until her 6-month mark. That had to be very difficult to hold inside and not be able to get open support from your friends. To top it off, a lot of absolutely vile things were posted on her fb site. So yes, she needs to move on -- but each of us shakes things off in our own way. Like jlccaz said, she needs to step away from her phone. I think once she takes a break from festering in it, she'll be able to look back and learn from it all.
As for Sean's DUI. The way I read it, he was arrested for DUI, but took a plea deal to a lesser offense of Reckless Driving, and probationary conditions. But I'm not well-versed on reading court docs, so this is just how I perceived it. That would mean he wouldn't have to report a DUI to the nursing board if he wasn't convicted of that specific charge, right?

Davina may have been hurt, however that still does not give her permission to be mean and immature, to anyone. I think that, unfortunately, that is ultimately just her character. I have a friend who went through a very difficult divorce. Her husband and ex-husband's friends spread nasty rumors about her and tried very hard to bring her down. I see Davina and her friend Chris doing some of the same thing to Sean on SM. My friend was able to rise above the behavior of others, ignore the negativity, and in the end walked away from the relationship with her head held high. She did not participate in the negative behaviors and could leave the relationship knowing that she behaved in the best possible way. That, in my opinion, is true strength. Davina's negative behavior is wrong and does not make her any better than anyone who may have hurt her. I honestly think she demonstrates narcissistic personality characteristics which is why she behaves the way that she does and also why she is unable to see her own negative behaviors.

I'm nearly certain that if he was charged with a DUI but took a plea he still needs to report. He was arrested for a DUI so even if he was able to try and hide it he will be asked when he renews his license. You have to answer honestly or you risk getting caught and losing your license. This legal site states you still need to report even if your charge is reduced: http://www.denmonlaw.com/resource/doctors-nurses-and-arrests-for-dui-in-florida/

I honestly am surprised to see this topic still popping up. The show is over; Sean and Davina have parted. The "fat lady" has sung. Time to go on to the next thing. JMHO.
Well behaved women rarely make history.

A&E would like nothing more for this then to be over. Nothing but a disaster! Hopefully they implement process improvement and do better (especially the male selections) next go.
As for the ladies, A&E is probably working hard with them to settle this thing and be done with it as well. They probably also understand that they did not handle this one well, and they don't want to be further tarnished.
The MAFS concept has lots of promise, and one miserably season fueled by expert mistakes should not take it down.
Looking to Hotlanta!
