The Bachelorette 11 - Kaitlyn Bristowe - *NO SPOILERS* - FRC Ended - Now Contains Spoilers - Discussion

So now it's a triangle...the guys trying to stay psyched to be in NY as a group together, and then there's Kaitlyn and then there's Nick. The guys aren't competing for Kaitlyn they are a united front almost against Kaitlyn who threw them collectively under the bus. Plus didn't Ali have a Lion King Broadway date? Kaitlyn is going through the motions talking about the love song of "A whole new world." She has no interest in love it seems. Again, fear of intimacy appears obvious during this episode.

Interesting that Ian calls Kaitlyn out as being shallow...I like him even more for that!! He is probably my favorite guy this season. The show is turning into a soap opera and is so far from Des's, and Sean's season where I saw a lot of integrity in the lead. It's interesting to compare Brady and Britt to the farce of Kaitlyn's season. I bet they will get engaged at the end of this. But where this season is going, who knows. It looks like a trainwreck is coming.

I knew that 'good time gal' appeal was going to wear off sooner than later.

Only 30 minutes into the latest episode but - OMG! Nick has arrived ... And he's kind of cute!

It's the most animated I've seen Kaitlin get about a guy.  She's like a giggling school girl.. And she must really like him a a lot, maybe even more than the other guys, if she is willing to risk pissing them off by bringing him in.

Ok - will report back once I have finished the episode and give you my views as what HappyGoLucky calls the " NickVirgin" .

Btw - I am very impressed with Ian's maturity - might have to put him in my top 4

So I didn't really get to see that much more of Nick for the rest of the episode but I have to say that he must have some pretty big gonads to be confident going into that situation. He must have known that he wasn't going to be welcomed with open arms by the guys so IMO he either really wants to get to know Kaitlin or has the fame agenda as suggested by one of the contestants. I don't know his past so I'm going to reserve judgement at this stage. But so far... I like him.

Few other things to mention...

- Was anyone else in hysterics when Chris was doing his audition? He reminded me of those Prince Charmings in Disney movies trying to impress the heroine with all the posturing. Not too sure about him?

- I still love Jared. That jawbone could chisel a love heart ice sculpture for Kaitlin! He seems one of the more genuine guys there. Your thoughts?

- I'm just not digging Kaitlin as much as I did at the beginning of the season. As much as she says she hates all drama so often instigates it and seems to secretly enjoy it.

- I also think all the group dates are weird. Each time they have put the guys in uncomfortable situations to see who thrives and who buckles. It's not a dating show - its survival of the fittest! Why can't they just go on a normal date like going to an amusement park or horseback riding. Or go cart racing! Way more fun than getting a black eye while boxing!

Next week looks interesting - can't wait to see how Nick handles the guys. I also want to see more substance to the developing relationships. Where are all the conversations about what they expect from a relationship, what kind of life they want to lead etc.  If she is serious about marrying one of these guys maybe she should spend more time talking about all this important stuff rather than, as we Kiwis call it, pashing.

Oh and another thing.

Just out of interest and since this is my first Bachelorette and my first chance to be a bit pervy, I'm interested in who everyone would choose as their final rose just on looks alone. Am I allowed to do that moderator?

Even though Ben H reminds me of my husband I would actually choose Ben Z. That is one big hunk of man!

Ben Z. - his face is lovely, he has big muscular body, that it's not my type, but whole - he is handsome and a really nice guy from what I've gathered - so yes, me too, in looks department he would be my winner.
Tanner - I like him too (if I can be really picky, maybe I find his nose a bit too narrow for my taste, so that's why he isn't 1st on the list), despite having different point of view on Nick in this episode, I understand his position and still see him as a good guy with values, at least I assume he holds high standards, from the way he spoke about last season.
Ben H. and Dr. Chris cupcake - they both are good looking men, sometimes the photos don't do them justice, so my impression changes - so far I've only watched 1st episode and partially this last one, so I haven't completely seen their personality and attitude, but I'm leaning more towards Ben H.
- I always associate the looks also with the attitude, how they carry themselves, so over time even the guy that I don't find attractive becomes handsome (Nick is one example)
I also think Tony, the healer, was very attractive, but I didn't really see much of him.

Great recap, Katiebelle!  It's so interesting to hear your thoughts as a newbie to the U.S. edition of the show.  And, I learned a new word - "pashing".   Perfect description!

The two bolded sentences really hit the nail on the head for me.  I'm not new to Nick since I watched all of Andi's season.  I do think he has a lot of gonads and, at the same time, is completely a pawn of the TPTB.  Just a more glorified, better actor version of Chris B (from Emily's season).  Dang.  I hope he doesn't go on as many shows as Chris has.  Not buying that the only way he could get to know and date Kaitlyn is to go on the show.  Nope.  Not a chance.  They have ratings gold with him.  They know it and he knows it.  He is happy to oblige them and sadly, it makes Kaitlyn look pretty weak that she can't carry a season on her own.  Frankly, I think all 3 of them - Kaitlyn, Nick and TPTB agreed, in order to make this season watchable and ratings worthy, they better come up with a storyline that will keep people talking and talking and talking and talking.  Nick is it.

Shawn really summed up the whole season storyline for me: "Are you not satisfied with what you have here already?"  I'm not sure when the decision was made to bring Nick on, but Kaitlyn must have indicated very early on that she wasn't really thrilled with anyone.  As for the second sentence, all the drama that's being stirred up, not necessarily institgated by Kaitlyn - really it's TPTB call, is filler for "Hello.  I don't see any real connection with anyone".  Her 1-1 last night with Jared (IA, he is a cutie and seems really genuine) underscored that.  It seemed forced for Kaitlyn.  And, what an insult to him to air Kaitlyn's comment that while she was with him, she was just thinking of Nick. WTG producers.  I did love seeing the Temple of Dendur.  Have spent many hours there.  And, yay for helicopters!  

What's ironic is that while Kaitlyn seems to show little interest in any of the guys except Nick, she has a boat load of guys who have expressed in ITMs real interest in her - Jared, Shawn, Ian, Ben Z, Ben H, Chris and maybe even Tanner.  It seems like way more than seemed geniunely interested in former bachelorettes Andi, Des, Emily or Ashley.  The MOT guys I think are JJ, Joshua (I will be sad to see him go - he's adorable but not into Kaitlyn), Justin, Corey, Jonathan and that dude with the glasses I can never name.  Joe is curious to me.  I think he might be the best kisser and that's why Kaitlyn's keeping him.  Plus, the producers have to love his accent, so they probably said to string him along.

I did think Kaitlyn was cute on the Broadway date.  It's the first time I've really seen her comfortable in her skin.  She loves performing.  It's very obvious.  She was in love with the stage, just not poor Chris.  He's way more into her than she is into him.  And, that "Cupcake" label is getting silly.  He's sort of white bread but has a lot of potential for next Bachelor.  Good job, good looks, nice manners.

On looks alone, my F1 would be either Ben H or Joshua.  I know they look completely different -- but they are both super attractive to me.

What do you all think about Britt and Brady?  They seem cute, but maybe it's a showmance to compensate for the lack of romance with Kaitlyn.  

And, any thoughts about who gets the 1-1 on the next episode?  Maybe Ben H or Shawn?  I don't think they'll give Nick a 1-1 yet because they want to show his drama with the guys.  Anyway, I hope we'll see two 1-1s.  I'm pretty tired of the group dates, at this point.

About Britt and Brady....I think Britt is pretty easy going and would take an interest in a guy who is SO into her, at least in these early stages. I guess anyone would be flattered by that attention and I think she is easy going enough to go with the flow of it. I like her more than I did on Chris's season. It's hard to tell as a couple because we are getting snippets of interactions that are obviously staged. Honestly though I like them together so far and I hope they succeed. I think just dating one guy and getting to really know him clearly makes sense....Look at Marcus and Lacey in that very short time on Bachelor on Paradise and where they are today. I think Britt is maybe lucky not to have been the Bachelorette. I'm guessing that the producers will be pushing for a proposal later in the season.

Welcome to NickLand! Yes, she does seem giddy for sure. I actually don't think that she knew he was coming as she seems genuinely surprised.

And, I too love Ian's maturity. He is in my top 4 for sure and I initially thought he was in Kaitlyn's top 4 but not anymore.

Yep, I am not sure about Jared. I just don't find him to be that great. He's like a poor man's Brooks Forrester.

I know that she warmed to Jared AND she seems to like kissing him but her chemistry seems a bit off with him. He grew on me as the date went on but I personally am not ga-ga for Jared. I couldn't tell if she was upset about NIck therefore she could not give Jared the attention he deserved or if she was wishing that Nick was there so could not initially give Jared her full attention at start of date.
