A producer could have picked up either of those items and probably did.
The point I was trying to make is though something like jewelry is nice, it does not have the same attachment, IMO, that a jacket might from your own high school, especially when given to the lady he took to the game and who met people there. One was a nice gift. The other was a personal gift attached to his past.

I tend to agree with you. I also think Kaitlyn was the firecracker that he enjoyed spending time with...not someone he was necessarily seeing as his wife. She was also the only one of the serious contenders who was on the camping date and missed out on meeting and being interviewed by the sisters.

What I find really amusing...and a little frustrating...is that every season it is the same at the end. The F2 story becomes the "big love" so that we have the "most shocking finale....ever"! The lead is so torn, blah, blah, blah and so are the fans. I remember people speculating on here about what was going to happed at the MTP's and LCD's because we hadn't gotten any previews and someone, tongue firmly in cheek, wrote exactly what would happen right down to Chris gazing pensively over corn fields with a furrowed brow as he tries to make up his mind between F1 and F2. I should have copied it for posterity since it applies every season.

And Whitney got the engagement ring.... a pretty big statement about his future.

That's how I see it as well. I remember reading that the show producers reportedly fought (loudly and vehemently) over Becca as the next Bachelorette and this was ultimately resolved because they concluded that she couldn't pull off that role (where you have to lead everyone but one on at the end). IMHO Becca was slotted to leave at F3 if they decided she would be the next Bachelorette and once they decided that was a no-go she became F2 and Chris just had to deal with it. That was what lead to the dart board comment in Bali because that's when this all had to be decided - to set the stage for the next season. IMO Whitney was F1 sometime before HTD and the rest was all TV - not reality.

**edited** the interview you were referring to was CH on Access Hollywood **edited**Billy Bush asked why two Bachelorette. CH said TPTB fought about them and they couldn't decide. He's clear the fights were about Britt and Kaitlyn. Billy is the one that asked what about Becca for Bacherolette and he say they thought about it but quickly dismissed her because of her inexperience.

Becca was never "scripted"  for Bachelorette. TPTB clearly had that role slated for Britt given her entrance, edit and exit from the show. What they didn't "script" for was how disliked Britt would be or Kaitlyn's popularity.  That is what they are fighting and they went down this two bachelorettes alley.

Every character is scripted to some degree...

And MeandI wanted Nick so much she knocked boots with him in the fantasy suite - before declaring undying love to poor old Josh and accepting that big old Neil Lane ring.  And Des vowed she only loved Brooks - until she accepted Chris's proposal and married him. And Sean told Lindsey, "I love you" - until he proposed to Cat and had their GrownSexy wedding. And Ashley was hopelessly devoted to Bentley and than Ben - until she accepted JP's proposal, married him and had Fordham.

I am late to the conversation about whether Chris called Whitney's sister for her blessing, but what I recall is in one of the earliest interviews where he was asked,he gave a very short answer that he talked to her,but he did not say whether it was before FRC. In a later interview, he said (paraphrasing) that they had a conversation that involved a lot more than getting her blessing and that basically, as a result of that conversation, all was well.He never specified if it was before FRC. The vibe I got was that the conversation with the sister,whenever it occurred, is something he wants to keep private and not talk about extensively in interviews, out of respect for the sister's privacy.

Andy slept with Bevin before picking Tessa. Ali was heartbroken over Frank  leaving before she choose Roberto.  Jillian needed to talk to CH before deciding she couldn't say yes to Reid and picked ED.  Jason dumped Molly and proposed to Melissa before he dumped her to go back to Molly. We could do this all day. I think it just proves that things arent always black and white. There's confusion and conflicting emotions every season some more than others but it's there - maybe they feel more for one individual above the other but to say its just one person and everyone else is "scripted" is flawed, IMO.

I'm not naive to believe that there aren't storyboards but it's just not realistic to think every lead knows their F1 beyond a shadow of a doubt and there's no conflict. There are feelings involved with both of their finalists, IMO. How could there not be you've met this person's family, you've shared some level of intimacy with them. As many of you have pointed out these aren't actors...the feelings exist on some level. This season I think there was deep conflict within Chris over both women but he made the choice he needed to make.

As with all the aforementioned couples, they live and die on what comes after.
It's possible Whitney and Chris could get married. It's also possible they crash and burn like most couples in the franchise. For now either side can save the "I told you so's" and victory laps- only time will tell.

IMO, after the show is when the relationship actually starts.
