I personally think that Whitney is mature enough to be able to handle the long hours that Chris has to put in for DWTS had she decided to come full time. I don't think there would be arguments about timing.
I don't understand why he would do DWTS if Whitney is F1. Does he need the money? Anyone know approx. when he would need to be back at the farm to get the fields ready for planting?

I think maybe he thinks it's just a fun once in a lifetime opportunity?
Personally I don't like it, it is making a difficult transition that much harder. But if they aren't going to last, I suppose DWTS will just expedite the break up. We shall see.

My question is why do a 3rd reality show in a row if you are required to be home in Arlington, IA tending to your farming business? He doesn't need DWTS as excuse to meet up with his F1 whoever she is.

Source: An Iowa State study from 2011 When Is Best Date To Plant Corn?
To achieve 98% of the corn yield potential, the data shows you should plant between April 12 and April 30 in northeast Iowa. In northwest, west central, central, and east central Iowa the best time to plant is from April 15 to May 9. In the remainder of the state (the bottom three tiers of counties in Iowa) to reach the 98% yield window you need to plant corn April 17 to May 8.
My next question would be: How long does it take to prepare the field to plant?...or is that a part of the time window mentioned above?

Re: Bachelor 19 - Whitney Bischoff #2
I agree, guess they'll just keep the people they hired while he was doing the Bachelor. He said in an interview that they hired his cousin.
This is an email someone sent into RS that I thought was funny. My only issue is I think Whitney is so in love with Chris and marriage/babies that when she gets the ring on her finger, she won't advocate for herself enough, and that she'll be making all the compromises. I hope I'm wrong though. This is just the impression that I get.

So, I’ve seen a lot of emails to you about how someone could NEVER move to Iowa and be a farmer’s wife. I grew up on a farm in Iowa and have a little perspective for your readers.
I thought it might be best to address farm life first:
- First, Chris is farming 6,000 acres with only his dad (Chris shared this with Jade on the Arlington date.) That is a ton of land so the guy is doing pretty well financially. And don’t most women want to marry a man who can support them this well. I think I saw he’s worth $1.5M and I don’t doubt it.
- Second, someone mentioned couldn’t Chris commute from one of the bigger cities like Des Moines. Really? He’s going to drive 2 hours each way to put in 12 to 18 hour days during spring planting and harvest. Sure he’s NOT! He also has livestock (aka animals) and you can’t leave them unattended. Farming is not a normal job people it’s a lifestyle.
- And finally, Chris obviously loves to farm. You can tell when he was talking about the land and the fact he jumped in a combine as soon as he got back from shooting in the fall. My dad loved farming and it’s not a bad lifestyle just really slow paced unless you’re actually doing work in the fields. Farmers basically have free time in August and the winter so it isn’t all work. A farmer is his own boss and sets his own hours. You can work as hard as you like and all that hard work pays off directly into your bank account. Can most people say that about their jobs? No. (Except you of course Steve!)
Do I think Whitney is in for a shock? Sure. The first time she drives 30-60 miles to a grocery store and has to put a cooler in the back so her frozen food won’t melt will be a shock. Who knows she may like the small town where everyone knows each other (and all your business) since she makes friends so easily in airports.
Here’s a list of things she needs to demand immediately after agreeing to marry Chris:
1 – A big ass SUV with 4 wheel drive
2 – Trips to Des Moines for any country concert she wants to see (as long as not during planting or harvest) and an overnight stay for a massive shopping trip the next day.
3 – One good, long tropical vacation each winter (pick January!)
4 – She needs an attached garage to Chris’ house. It’s a nice house but I don’t think the garage is attached. He needs to build you an attached garage Whitney!!
5 – And last but not least, the most expensive coffee/latte/cappuccino machine just below a Starbucks professional model. You can’t justify driving 60 miles for a latte so best to learn to make them for yourself!
I wish them good luck and once they start having kids does it really matter where you live since babies take up all your time & energy anyway?

Well it is a lot more convenient if Becca is F1, since she lives so close to LA. They can see each other regularly while still having things to keep them busy besides each other. Would help avoid the Andi/Josh situation with one person having nothing to do and annoying the other to death. Whereas if Whitney is the F1 then this will only make things harder for them.

If Whitney is F1, ABC will get her her to LA. She would probably be in LA for the Season Premiere and when she can. We don't know how long he will be on DWTS so they would play it by ear. Also, many of the pro's go to the contestant's destination to practice and it could be that they will continue rehearsals in Iowa. Whitney B. is close to Iowa so they can be together there as well.

CS spent his life in small town Arlington, and commented in both Andie's season and this season about seeing things\having experiences that "they sure don't have in Iowa." DWTS is a once in a lifetime experience and he needs to strike while the iron is hot. Next DWTS season, he'll be last year's Bachelor. The farm will still be there when he finishes DWTS.
It's not like his family is barely eking out a living and that hiring people to do what he normally does will put them in financial jeopardy. I am sure the family values his contributions, and he is\was being groomed to take over the whole operation for the next generation. But I would hope they would support him taking a break to pursue this once in a lifetime opportunity.

While I don't know how long his particular farm takes to prep the fields, based on how they schedule fertilizer, tilling the soil, how many acres they're planting, etc. It should be worked on some all during the off season to prepare it, with final preps being done, before the dates of planting. If it's your lively hood and source on income instead of a side hobby with a small garden, you would want to have things ready to go and not rush last minute to get things done. Over the years, I'm sure the to do list and schedule has been refined and mapped out for maximum crop and efficiency. But I would think it'd would probably take at least several weeks to get a large farm or large acrage ready to plant.
At least that's how things are done in the southern farming area I grew up in. Maybe different up there since we don't get as harsh a winter. So, farmers around here maybe allowed more liberty in their time frame than those up north. But I would still tend to think, they would be working to have the fields completely ready to plant by the dates shown in the almanac or whatever farmers guide they use (should be similar to the time farm Litta posted, but often the dates vary per year slightly).

KB, I agree, Chris is being groomed to take over the family farming business. In the interim, I believe his Father has to run it. I am sure they have staff that does the actual work. But as Chris has said, he needs to be in the Iowa long term to run the business. With internet capabilities, alot of the business management aspect can be done that way and Chris does handle that side of the business, I believe. Also, IA, now would be the time for him to do DWTS if offered while he has some star power.
Back to Whitney. His choice of doing DWTS has no bearing on her being the F1, IMO.

I don't think it makes any real difference who F1 is - ABC will deal with it the same way for either of the final candidates. Having Chris dancing and his fiancee in a front row cheering him on makes for good TV so they will simply make it happen. Other than show night and results night there's probably not much time to do anything but practice which means Chris's fiancee could be back at work where ever she works.
^^^^ I agree.

Re: Bachelor 19 - Whitney Bischoff #2
This is just my perspective. We have been told Chris is looking for a wife and family, to me DWTS while fun is a diversion from that
DWTS is long hours and exhausting. One partner being exhausted at the beginning growing part of a relationship sounds like a challenge.
I have heard Whitney is the better pick, she wants them same things, etc. choosing to do DWTS to me seems to be different than what his stated goals are.
Does this mean Whit isn't F1, nope not at all. But since she was already talking about wedding at the FD, to me delaying the progression of the new relationship in anyway is strange.
I hope Whitney really makes sure she is getting what she wants and isn't just in love with an idea.
