Seriously though, previously I had felt sorry for Monet in all this, but after tonight, it seemed as if she kept deflecting questions and not taking enough responsibility. It was really off putting.
.. I typed that first and erased it because I figured most here might not have watched BIP. I have some personal experience with a guy like Vaughn so I'm biased. I felt he was pretty hopeless in comparison to Monet. But, honestly, I wouldn't want to spend 10 minutes with either. Cortney, as usual stole the show for me. I hope Jason is good to her. She seems to have such a big heart for him.
Really, by the end of the whole thing I practically wanted to marry Cortney ( ). She seems so emotionally mature, such a great communicator and is just so caring towards Jason. I really hope they have a lifetime of happiness, and they just lucked out by meeting their soulmate on this show. Appears that's what happened. I love her.
Was also glad to see Jamie acknowledge that she didn't make it easy for Doug to love her, but he did it anyway, every step of the way. Nice to see the emotion from them both.
It was so refreshing to watch people who came across as nothing but decent, real, caring and kind people on this show, with Cortney and Doug leading that charge. They were both actually thinking of someone else ahead of themselves. Not something you see on reality tv too often. A pleasant example of how to be, not how not to be. And that love builds from the way people treat each other, not just how hot they are for each other, or how extravagant their dates are. I loved watching it. Not sure how they found such quality people but hope they can do it again for the next season.

well said, Relaxing...
i just finished watching the last episode....and found myself a blubbering mess watching Jamie and Doug declaring their love for each other
This show really surpassed my expectation of any other reality TV show, especially the Bach/Ette series. No Bach/Ette proposal (well, other than the one on my avi, of course ) could give me the great feeling as watching the successful 2 couples from this experiment. I could sit back and relax enjoying every moments of the interactions that were real, knowing that they were and are in for long-haul and no edit trick was directed aiming at me and my judgement... :P

Loved almost every minute of the entire show with one exception. They handled it without drama throughout what could have been a reality tv "production extravaganza" until the finale and last night. I could have done without the commercial breaks for drama. I was watching regardless of where they broke and the constant cliffhangers only made me go to the kitchen, bathroom, send an email etc. That was disappointing.
I think the turnoff for me with Monet and Vaughn was that I didn't feel like I was learning from them and how they interacted. Both of the other couples, I felt like I was able to make myself Courtney/Jamie. I could "understand" how their minds worked and therefore not only understand how and why they responded the way they did, but also, learned how that type of response, either worked or didn't. I have never been abused or in such a relationship but I was able to see how that might have impacted her responses. We didn't see much of Monet and Vaughns backstory either so that may have been to blame for my total lack of interest in their end story.

Duh! I agree! They were bad from the start.
Just got back and started watching again at this point... Wow! That was ugly. Sounds like he needs a playboy bunny that can cook and stroke his ego! He acknowledged the threesome comment was a bad choice minutes before his sex all day comment. Next, he tells her there's nothing wrong with her hand after surgery. He has issues. I think it was 80/20 Vaughn's fault. Monet has a greater potential to have a successful relationship going forward imo. She's able to be introspective and grow.
The host is so biased. Some of his comments or questions were so off base and unfair. Wanting your partner to have drive and direction sure doesn't make you a gold digger.
Actually I believe the comment about the hand was what Monet told Vaughn. She basically told him he wasn't getting any so take care of himself. I have to disagree about Monet having the greater potential to grow. She strikes me as a woman at her age VERY stuck in her ways and has an actual checklist for what she wants in a man. By no means was Vaughn fault-less, but I believe they were equally at fault in the failure of that marriage/relationship.

That's actually a good point about the backstory on Vaughn and Monet...did we actually see Monet's family? Not just her girlfriends?

It was renewed early in the season, GA. My guess is it will be around the same time next year if it takes that long for casting.

OK guys I need something explained. I just finished watch MAFS, last night's 6 month married episode on Hulu. I was with you all last night as you live posted and we discussed things back and forth but I don't get FYI so I have to wait to actually see it the next day
From what I recall and from re reading yesterdays posts nobody commented on what the host of the program said at the end. Did I just miss the big announcement, was it discussed here, or did you guys not see it.?
The host said, two of the couples are in a great married relationship and we will all be curious to continue to see how this experiment works, so look for married FOR ONE YEAR of course I'm paraphrasing the hosts words)
They are going to continue to follow Jamie and Doug and Jason and Cortney through this next 6 months. How exciting. love the idea that the experts will still be available to them and their story will still be available to us.
Replayed the end of the program on Hulu to make sure i heard right and YES. Did anyone else see this????????

It was part of the end credits. I saw it on my Amazon account. I almost stopped the viewing before those came on, but was busy, so left it on & sure enough I saw the Married For a Year reveal.
I've been faithfully buying each ep for $1.99 so I have them forever. At first they only has the first few, but I contacted customer service & asked if the rest would become available. Apparently enough other customer asked too. Now ALL episodes are there to be purchased.
No I'm not trying to sell amazon to anyone, I just like having the ability to rewatch.

Geesh. Luckily it was only 5 weeks (plus all the time to air)

JET: What, for you, was the turning point for you and Monet’s relationship?
V: There was a time when I came back, and she wanted to have a girls’ night that made me really upset. You have to realize that things are sometimes shown out of order. That incident actually happened after she told me I wasn’t as established as a man. She said that, and then I had all these long car rides, and it kept replaying. I can’t get over that as a man. I’m someone who takes pride in his work, and I feel accomplished in things I’ve done. I was essentially put with somebody that doesn’t match on a lot of levels and, on top of that, looks down on me as a man. I didn’t want to fight anymore. I knew it wasn’t worth fighting for.
JET: You mention weaknesses…What do you think the show exposed as being your weakness?
V: I thought this was going to be pure documentary style and tried to forget the camera was there. And I was also working long shifts at work, then driving all the way to where Monet lived. It brought out my grumpy side. Monet was really good at turning it on and seeming bubbly in front of the camera. But when I am not in a good mood, I am not skilled at hiding it. Part of my job entailed waking up extra early to beat the New York traffic, and during a day, I might travel sometimes to Delaware, to Pennsylvania, to Jersey.
