Or it's not September, but it's actually April 1 and I've been April fooled. I would have loved it if we were able to follow our couples after a year BUT#disappointed
I feel pretty sure "MAFS - First Year" is happening. I watched the reunion episode on Amazon instant video and the announcement was at the end of the episode yesterday, but it is gone today. My guess is that somebody screwed up and added that announcement to the episode prematurely. I thought it was odd that the FYI Network hadn't had a press release on the new series, but I think it is just that they are not ready to officially announce it yet. Maybe they are waiting until after the clips episode on 9/30.
People keep tweeting to Jamie, Doug, Jason and Courtney that they need to have their own series, and all 4 of them keep re-tweeting these comments. In one of this re-tweets, Jason made the comment "you never know". After the reunion Jason also tweeted, "And that's just only 6 months! dun dun dunnnn haha". Also, when all 3 couples were together on the six months show, the host made a comment about what a great love story MAFS was, and Jason said, "and that was only the first six months" and all the couples laughed. To me it felt like they laughed because they knew the show would continue to follow the 2 successful couples.
MAFS is the highest rated show on the FYI network, so you know they are going to try to capitalize on its success for as long as possible. I'd bet money it will happen, and I'm so excited!!
I really hope your right, I would love it!

I agree, but until there's a press release, there's nothing confirming it.
Anything I post means it's Just My Opinion. Don't feel like posting it every time I post. So, I thought I'd get that out of the way.

The host also made a comment before some commercial break, I think before all the couples came on stage together, that there's also a special announcement coming, and the only announcement was about the new series. And he did say "new series". I think they're just in the early stages of planning it and have no idea when it airs yet. I doubt it's gonna air before they've been married a year, so maybe next spring or summer.

Agree. I also saw somewhere that she is suppose to start writing a "humorous" book on the NYC dating seen....wondering if it will happen and if it would be anywhere near funny.
Vaughn's job $$$ according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics can be found here.

You can't live on that in some parts of the country....mine being one of them. NYC is not cheap.
I thought I heard that he worked one week or weekend out of the month, but long hours. Maybe I misunderstood. Point being that if he didn't work full time, he couldn't have been making a lot. I think it didn't matter. Vaughn found Monet difficult to get along with, so he'd leave sooner or later.
I think you're right. I post links here for the sake of sharing information and when I saw his income and knowing what he would make as a Sgt in the National Guard....that is not enough to live on to support a family in NYC. Plus something that was said by Alex McCord in her synopsis of the reunion ep, made it all kind of come together for me. I'll post that, as it might be helpful to others.

You may want to try tweeting Doug or Jamie to put it up on youtube or seeing if they know a way?

I think her problems with Vaughn were more about his attitude & personality than money or his job/career. If "it" was there for both of them, neither would have been so picky or critical about each other. Before I met my dh I had a relationship where we spent a lot of time arguing. It wasn't until I met the right guy for me that I realized it didn't have to be so hard.dw_a_mom wrote:Ariela wrote:
I don't think she was looking for a rich guy, but someone who made enough to support a family when she got preggers. In her mind she couldn't respect a man who didn't make more than she did. I see her point. If she was to assume a traditional wife role, the money should NOT be her responsibility.
I also see his point that Monet is not a warm and fuzzy person. In fact, she sounds as though she has a chip on her shoulders from bad dating (saying how Black women are portrayed). Quite frankly, I was disturbed by her comments. They seem to be all in her head.
I frequently felt that way watching Monet through out the season, ie that she would say something and I would wonder how she got to that conclusion. I don't feel her social analysis is very accurate.
From what I saw, Vaughn fits the traditional definition of financially stable. He had a decent apartment, pays his bills, has worked consistently, etc.
I think that Monet's definition of financially stable is more along the lines of, "and able to support a family in the style I am used to." Plenty of working class families have stay-at-home moms and somehow make it all work, while also building savings. That is "financially stable." It is all relative to how you spend, and Monet seems to like to spend, so I think she needs to realize that what she wants is actually much more than "financially stable."
Rather than worry about which of them was more in the wrong, I'm just going to assume that it was a combination of a lot of things so both are to blame. For me it doesn't matter to what degree. JMHO
Someone who wears recognizable designer shoes and never cooks (which backs into purchasing a lot of restaurant food) is spending a lot more money than I do, and I am capable of making really good money - and spending a lot. Nor would her size of apartment be inexpensive in NY. Hence, I think we can figure out her spending habits.
I don't say that to make a right or wrong about it, but to note another reason they were never really a match.
Just give me something that looks like a real love story to help me escape into my own version of fantasy for a while. And maybe against the odds one of those stories will actually survive real life. Nothing wrong with a little hope, right?

I know she is in fashion but I can't find anything specific; no details on her Facebook and no LinkedIn.
I guess I'm wondering how that conversation went, about his goal for the future. I have a friend who was married to a man that Vaughn reminds me of and, while he had soft goals ie positions he thought would be nice to reach, he was ultimately content where he was at and had no real need to actually meet those goals. Hence, no plan. And there shouldn't be anything wrong with that, as long as you are self-supporting (which my friend's husband was, and it seems Vaughn was), although it definitely is a "match" issue. Both spouses need to have to feel good about and respect how the other approaches life, and be comfortable living within whatever confines that creates.
It interests me that despite hearing all these argument and differences on expectations, Dr. Joseph Cilona seemed to believe they still could have / should have been a match. I'm curious what the key indicators on that would be. Personally, I think where you see yourself in social class and standard of living, and how you view drive-ambition-work ethic, today and tomorrow, are pretty huge compatibility factors.

Final note:
Dr. Joseph Cilona seems to be a huge fan of Jamie's. I think he really cares about her and her future, and may have been most invested in her of all the cast.

Sister2Sister interview
Monet is a product development manager in the fashion industry. It kind of depends on what she's developing and who she works for on how much she makes. It might also mean she "might" get perks?????
Is there a thread for just Monet and just Vaughn?

Tracy: You believe Vaughn has issues with Black women. Why do you think that?
Monet: I do. There were instances where we had conversations, and he would say, “Don’t you think Black women are argumentative or combative?” There is always somebody with a chip on their shoulder to perpetuate the poor image of African-American women. At any given time, if I’m passionate or don’t agree with something, why is that unacceptable? Why does that lump me into a stereotype if today I’m having a bad day? He did a JET interview last week and I read it and the moment I got to the portion to it about argumentative Black women…If you don’t get how much bigger this is. That’s hurtful to African-American women. It’s not fair. White women get angry, too, but you direct it to me because I’m a Black woman because I have an opinion and am passionate and because I don’t agree with your point of view. It’s not okay. It’s bigger than just he and I. You have to have some understanding about how big the situation really is for our community. As far as him…he swears up and down that he really wanted a Black woman. I think in theory it sounded good to say; I think an ideal woman would have been more timid and more submissive…I’m not sure if that’s the word I want to use.
Tracy: The other couples were able to stay married and are trying to make it work. Did that make you jealous at all?
Monet: I’m kinda jealous. I wanted that love. I wanted that to develop. Me and Jamie and Courtney went to dinner…Courtney said she was sorry that that situation turned out the way it did. I told her, “Don’t stop telling me about your happiness because don’t minimize your happiness because my situation didn’t work out.” They do have something that is real. Their love is real and that makes me feel better about the show.
NEXT: Monet acknowledges her role in the broken marriage and talks about a spin-off. Watch>>
