They always choose the more vanilla, less interesting choice. Always. And Juan Pablo was not interesting, so I don't want to hear that example.

Nick faved this :
"I'd rather be someone's shot of whiskey then everyone's cup of tea"
So not everyone likes him, that's OK, but I, and some others, do.

I don't know - Brad 2.0 was pretty controversial. I actually wish they'd go back to picking someone completely new - instead of the retreads. It seems when they use someone we knew from a prior season, they tend to emphasize their faults and I usually end up liking them less.

ironcat wrote:I personally don't think the time issue was the main reason, because, unlike the Bachelorette which has an almost immediate turnaround, the season doesn't start airing (yes, it tapes earlier, but I don't think most viewers think about that) until January, and that's a good 5 months to "heal".  I just think Nick is still too controversial/polarizing a "character" for the producers to want to "go there", especially when they already had what they considered to be a very viable alternative with Chris.

IMO, if Nick had been the fan favorite, with 70-80% of the female audience oohing and aahing over how this poor, adorable, hunky gentlemanly guy got his heart broken, and how much he deserves a chance at love (ie, if he were Chris L), they would have taken him in a hot minute.

IC I was about to jump off my train and onto yours until it occurred to me that there may be something we're both missing. I agree that if Nick were a Chris L they would have gone with him; the thing is it appears they didn't. According to the spoiler (which is looking more and more right) they wanted Chris S from a very early time and it was never Nick. Maybe, as Kasha posted upthread, Nick never wanted it. Maybe the show knew something else that made them realize Nick was not another Chris L. Maybe they knew long ago that polarizing controversy would surround Nick (though I don't think it necessarily did during most of the airtime season). Maybe they decided that Nick was "worth more" to them in that controversy than as the next lead. Maybe it's none of those things and something else, but there is a reason why they didn't appear to ever have seriously considered Nick as the next lead.

I like the concept of the retread. For example, I liked Sean better the second time around. He is the only bachelor I have liked in recent years. But I do agree, that I liked Andi less after this season, and I definitely liked Ben less after his season. I always thought JP was a terrible choice. I just wish for once it would be someone I liked!! Reid, Chris L, Brooks, Nick.

Yeah, I liked all those guys too but I think the reason I continue to like them is because they did not go back on the show to become puppets of TPTB. They all moved on with their lives and just used their fame to do charitable works as Nick is doing now. Sean was the exception.

I know. Both are strange for them. As I recall Chris L did not want Bachelor, Reid turned it down. I don't think Brooks turned it down though, they just wanted to go with Juan Pablo, probably because Brooks was too quirky. And Nick, too, is quirky and not for everyone. But he too could have not been interested.

They are/were supporting cast not the stars. Brooks is on only 1 episode of BIP. I basically forgot all about Reid's appearance on BP - I was surprised he did it.

I cannot imagine Brooks ever as the Bachelor - he is in no way ready to be tied down IMO.  And I agree Nick is not for everyone - I like him just fine though!

Who is the next bachelor? The mystery remains unresolved while speculations run rampant. Fans were expecting to know who would lead "The Bachelor" 2015 during the After the Final Rose special on "The Bachelorette" 2014. Contrary to the expectations, the announcement was not made. For those eager fans, here is the latest scoop on "The Bachelor" 2015.

According to Us Weekly, Nick Viall the runner-up of Andi Dorfman's season is being looked at as the leading man of "The Bachelor" 2015. A source close to the franchise told the celebrity news publication that "producers are strongly considering" Nick Viall for the job of dating 25 bachelorettes in the next installment of the show.

Nick Viall is a 33-year-old software sales executive from Waukesha, Wisconsin. He is the same contestant who made the shocking revelation about having sex with Andi Dorfman in the fantasy suite on live TV during "The Bachelorette" finale.
"Viewers are interested in what he has to say," the insider told the publication.

Earlier in August, the bachelor sat for an interview with Entertainment Tonight where he spilled his thoughts about starring on "The Bachelor" 2015 and giving himself second chance at finding love. Speaking to the media outlet, Nick Viall said that "anyone would be flattered to even be considered" for the job of handing out the roses. However, it seems the decision is not just his. He revealed that before he would take up the role he would like to speak to his family about it. He would also like to ensure that his "heart is open and ready for that in fairness" to himself and the ones involved.

He even admitted that the channel has not yet "approached" him to lead the 19th instalment of "The Bachelor" series.
However, Viall is not the only option for producers. Fans know Chris Soules and Arie Luyendyk Jr. are the two other "The Bachelorette" alums being considered by the producers. For those who don't know, Chris Soules is the second runner-up of Andi Dorfman's season and Arie Luyendyk Jr. is the runner-up of Emily Maynard's season.

Reality show spy Reality Steve took to Twitter to quash the rumours and speculations about "The Bachelor" 2015. He informed his followers that any reports claiming Nick or Arie as the next bachelor "aren't true."

However, in the absence of official announcement, the news remains unconfirmed and should be treated as mere speculations. Meanwhile, let us know who would you like to see leading "The Bachelor" 2015: Chris Soules, Arie Luyendyk Jr or Nick Viall?

And the Entertainment Tonight video link mentioned in the article. As I was out of town I never got to see the ET interview and don't know if this aired in part or in its entirety. It's what ET has posted on YouTube though:

MF chose Juan Pablo, imo, to deflect heat from a law suit brought on ABC/Next Entertainment for never choosing a racially diverse bachelor.  Had little or nothing to do with Brooks.

There are stars on these shows?   giggling  Haha, I know what you mean.  I had to think back about Reid's appearance, too.
