I agree,Alanna, with what what you are saying. Unfortunately Sean's original blog post which was really about the use of the term "soul mate" which he does not agree with has taken on a life of its own and been taken out of context to a certain extent in articles like this.

Alanna wrote:Thanks for posting. I think Sean's sentiment is good, but Jodi's rode is immeasurably easier than Sean & Cat's imo, like no comparison at all really. Sean himself even points out that he and Cat should be diametrically opposed on all issues, they're even an interracial couple to top it all off, from cities that could not be more different in every which way. Jodi, otoh, pretty much could not have more in common if they tried. Of course any relationship takes work but comparing his path with Cat and Jodi's path doesn't make much sense to me, even the fact that they've spent every day together post filming of the show is different than any other couple has started post-show airing.Retiredswimmom wrote:Found this, sorry if it's been posted. I agree Alanna but I do think Sean has a good heart and means well. I do believe he and cat are fans of Josh and Andi and I believe they did not like Nick., or should I say never liked his tactics or the way he conducted himself on the show. I always thought they were pulling for Josh. I think Sean relates to him and maybe really thought he was giving sound advice because he actually likes andi and Josh. IMO
I do like the way past couples and contestants especially the leads stick up for one another and have each other's back. As long as they respect TPTB and the process. Juan was not respected but I don't need to go there.

I was just gonna mention that his original blog post had a different point than many of the articles that have taken his quotes and made it mean something else.
Regardless, Sean and Catherine are both fans of Josh/Andi and wish them well.

I personally agree with everything Sean said. He's absolutely correct IMO. There is so much more to the relationship they have to discover to be able to call each other soul mates.
Being a soul mate is for eternity. You don't really know or feel that one is your soul mate until you experience life together. They may feel the love, and the intimacy right now, but IMO they need to experience challenges and struggles together and depending how the situations are handled, that would contribute to being called a soul mate. That and so much more. They may feel right now, they are soul mates because they are so happy, but they have not spent real life time together outside of the Bachelorette bubble.
They may have spent everyday with each other post show, but that in itself, along with the way they met, is not realistic. They may have learned some things about each other, but they weren't allowed to go out in public, and were confided indoors.
This is the beginning of their relationship, this is when real life happens, and I agree with Sean, this is the hard part.
They have gotten off to a good start, and I wish them continued happiness!

One of the things Sean said is that it's better not to label your spouse your soulmate because it puts too much pressure on the need for perfection- and none of us is perfect. One loves in spite of imperfections. Though Josh and Andi have about 45 days more of togetherness than the usual couple from this show, there's still an awful lot they need to learn (frankly, they'll be learning for a lifetime). But they're both smart and tenacious and clearly have what it takes to live a long life together.

I think the pressure is really the point. They are already under insane pressure because they are "engaged," which in real life they would not be yet, and already having to face constant questions about a wedding, etc. I think Sean is just asking them to take a step backwards and remember that they should be taking things at their own pace, instead of continuing with the false fast-forward momentum created by the show.
Just give me something that looks like a real love story to help me escape into my own version of fantasy for a while. And maybe against the odds one of those stories will actually survive real life. Nothing wrong with a little hope, right?

I'll post it in the no discussion thread too, I don't think we've seen it before
Big: You know, Manhattan has a lot of beautiful women.
Carrie: What an amazing observation!
Big: But the thing is, after awhile, you just wanna be with the one who makes you laugh.

Very cute. They certainly seem to have got to know a lot about each other in a short period of time. Josh seems to have given Andi the freedom to laugh at her own foibles. That's a gift IMO

I cracked up when he said "possibly work out", and she almost feaked out "possibly????", and he said for somebody else, but then she laughs. It's like she loves to get a rise out of him, the he plays it right back to her. He said how much he loved her first, they both feel lucky to have met. They are adorable. (maybe rise is not a good word, or maybe it is) :giggle: She loves teasing him about his hair. Am I the only one who feels she watches him when he comes out of the shower to do his hair, she has it down pat. I'd be watching if I were her too.

ITA. the concept of soulmates is from Plato and a little weird when you know the whole idea behind it, but i definitely believe a couple can be destined for each other as i've known a number of people who have had that happen. that is different from there being only one person in the universe for them. if i had to guess i'd say momma murray has been praying for a wife for josh and that is why andi and josh met.Alanna wrote:Thanks for posting. just last night i heard a crazy story of a lady who has been married over 50 years and how she and her husband got together. when she was in junior high she had a neighbor who was this cool girl in high school with all these pictures of boys on her wall. this lady asked her friend if she could have one of the pictures because she wanted to be like her older friend. she said there were probably 50 pics of guys on the wall. she picked the guy's pic who turned out to have been her neighbor's first bf but lived in another state, and this is so funny, she got some gigantic dime store ring and put it on a shower stopper cord and went around wearing it and telling people the guy in the pic was her boyfriend and that some day they were going to get married, LOL. well, to make a long story short years later she was engaged to someone else and then met a guy and he said he was going to marry her the first night they met even though she was engaged. she finally hung out with him and turns out he was the guy from the pic that she'd said she was going out with when she was 13. she ended up breaking things off with her fiancé and married this guy over 50 years ago. she talks about it at the start of this video if anyone wants to hear the story. the story starts at 1:25.
