Re: Chris Soules - Bachelorette 10 - Discussion - Thread #3
Andi knew who Josh was is the point.
As for Chris S., how is he coming across? Seems like a Juan Pablo where people really have no idea who Chris S is.

Anything I post means it's Just My Opinion. Don't feel like posting it every time I post. So, I thought I'd get that out of the way.

You can thank Brian for lines like that. So many this season were "playing the game" in his words. Even Andi admitted in an early interview that she came into this show with a "strategy".
We may never know the full truth about anything. Just like the business of whether or not she and Nick really did anything "questionable" in the fantasy suite. Obviously he was accusing her of... something.
Sorry to get off topic of Chris, but want to add this portion of Nick's letter here. It was interesting in that it suggests Andi may not have been aware just how much the guys had to put themselves through. She probably saw no problem saying on TV it was always Josh... and the other guys can just... you know.
"There is a reason why I asked you if you ever had your heart broken. I wanted to know if you have ever “put it on the line” enough to truly have a chance at something special. To me that is what it’s all about. A lot of things about us scared me. I really didn’t know if we would make it, but I was willing to put it all on the line for us because I truly believed the connection we had was incredibly unique and special. To me, if there is no risk of being totally crushed and heartbroken then there is no way it can be great."

I think Chris is much different from Juan Pablo. Even though Chris didn't get a lot of air time, it was definitely much more than JP. Chris at least had a HTD, and we did get to see into his life and family.
So Andi saw Josh prior to the show and "knew" of him. Interesting....
I thought her comment last night about falling in love with him and knew it would be him from night one was in very poor taste and so disrespectful to the rest of the guys.
oh well...glad this is over and ready to move on...

I was just going to respond too to this...
This is a different situation. A lot more airtime than Juan. Also no T-shirts at MTA.
Chris is a popular choice, but not necessarily a "beloved" choice. The abc.com messageboard can't stop discussing his old "rap sheet" involving a DUI in his youth. There were also posts questioning if his company supports Bayer or some other big-wig that has been questioned about its ethics. Threads even state over there as "we don't want Chris as Bachelor".
I take that as a GOOD sign. Nobody views him as "perfect", as Emily kept calling Sean on her season.
Yet he will give them a Sean-like season in that he will take the "process" more seriously than other leads. He is essentially a what-you-see-is-what-you-get type. This is good in a way, but it does not make him always "lovable" either since he simply tells-it-like-it-is.
For example, we had the very limited MTA drama he confronted JJ with another "I call it as I see it" situation. JJ kept suggesting he doesn't wait to report wrong doings, when we saw him on screen discussing Andrew behind his back twice without confronting him directly... and "grown ass man" Josh did most of the "confronting" with the hostess phone-number bit. Chris responded to something JJ remarked that he felt was untrue, reminding him of his pr**k comment behind his own back. Chris had no "grudge" or animosity. He just was putting JJ in his place!
Obviously, this kind of behavior does NOT make Chris all that "lovable" in viewers' eyes, but... as he says, there are no mimes in Iowa and he is not pretending to be something he is not. "Your true colors will show throughout this process" is his motto.
Of course, even squeaky clean Sean got into trouble on his WTA when AshLee accused him of telling her, at fantasy date time with cameras off, that he felt nothing for Lindsay and F1 Catherine. We shall see if Chris can maintain his upfront honesty. Again, it is not like any of us here are putting the dude on a pedestal.
My overall "vibe" is that Chris Harrison loves the guy more than many past contestants. Apparently the two conversed more on the show than is typical of dumped contestants, so we can expect more pre-RC "sitdowns" than Andi's season.
I still strongly suspect those interviews he did in June that "softened" Nick, Andrew and even JJ of their questionable edits was all pre-planned by Fleiss & Co. He also purposely was photographed with Nick in Chicago during a visit to show that he was not still upset with him post-show and was sympathetic to what happened to him. Nothing "they" do is not carefully thought out. Chris is the one they TRUST the most as a potential lead regardless if he winds up the lead or not, since he agrees to do what is asked of him.
When Harrison placed his hand on Soules' shoulder when saying they aren't ready to announce next Bachelor, my impression was that the decision was made but they want to do it in a special way.

I am all for Chris as the next Bachelor. As much as I liked Nick, he would not do well in this type of manipulative format. I think Chris can more than handle TPTB and will have no problems fulfilling their expectations of his role.

Arie is on WIPE-OUT, which could qualify as a "remember him?" stunt for viewers.
Per Mr. Harrison...
More than a few of you tweeted me last night reminding me that I forgot to announce who the new Bachelor is. Believe it or not I didn’t forget to announce something that big. The truth is we haven’t decided 100 percent on whom that is yet. Obviously we take this decision very seriously and a lot goes into this process. There are endless discussions and heated debates on which direction to go and what to do. We are very close to making that decision, but the only big mistake we could really make is to rush this and try to get it done in time for last night’s show. I know you’re all anxious, and I wish I could tell you exactly when we’ll make that announcement, but I just can’t because the decision hasn’t been made. I do love reading the “stories” that claim one thing or another but I am a part of these heated debates, and I can promise you one took place last night after the show, so it’s still not a done deal. I’ll keep you posted via Twitter (@chrisbharrison) as to when and where we’ll make the final decision.
What is the trouble? Are they wondering if Heartbroken Nick could be a contender? I will be OK if Arie is chosen, although I still think he is simply a "buffer choice" if something goes wrong with Chris anyway. Right now BOTH Nick and Andi are being flamed over on the motherboard for the "below the belt" comment regarding the fantasy date. At this point... after being "checked out" of this season since Chris got booted and never really "warming" up to Andi's over-analytical and too-cool-headed PI sessions to begin with... I could care less about those battles being waged on the forums, just as Josh probably could care less.

Not yet. I'm darned near sure Arie is their backup plan if Chris and the show can't negotiate an agreement.
Chris didn't get where he is by being stupid. I'd bet he's not being the easy sign-up they expected. He probably has his own requirements, both financial & other, that he wants from them. They don't like that. They want to completely control their lead & pick them up cheap, thinking the lead will be flattered to be chosen.
Chris is a smart man, and he doesn't need the show or their money or TV exposure. He's not looking to be in the entertainment industry or better his job prospects or business. He's just fine as he is.
That's why they lined up Arie. He's their F2.

All they basically need to do is trim off the Andi Talk at the end of this and they already have an "intro" for next season.
This interview with Arie is over a year old. I personally think Courtney's tales (and others' as well) are exaggerated and he is probably not quite the womanizer so many think he is. There is a reason Harrison adds quotation marks around the word "stories".

It would be a refreshing season IMO.
